This is a drama for a reason. And of course it's okay to drop a trending drama if it's not to your liking.
There are plenty of dramas that went the unrealistic/dramatic route but made it engaging and less clownish than this. This feels like something done up by a high schooler.
And yes of course I'm gonna drop it, I'm just very shocked that it's at 8.8.
I watched the first episode and my eyes almost rolled out from the cringe... The camerawork during the car scene was borderline horrible and failed to create any tension at all. The "twist" also felt ridiculous and a bit stupid. And this is a 8.8 on MDL?? 😬
All that "filling in the gaps in your voice with emotions/acting", only for her voice to magically come back and she hits the high notes perfectly? Okay... Just the 12345th time the show gave the FL plot armour I guess... And what is that ending? Where is the closure??? 😑
FL still thinks the world revolves around herself and we are already two-thirds into the show. The show is telling me to feel bad for her but seriously, I just get frustrated with her to no end. Ditching her partner to go ruin her voice in the mountains has got to be one of the most shitty things she did. Yes, Chorok used to bully her but she would have done the same if it was anyone else.
Call me heartless but she brought it all upon herself. She's not a child, she's 19. She needs to start THINKING, have some humility and learn a thing or two about being a team player.
This show is definitely well-made in many ways but I just find the FL severely unlikable. I'm sorry but she's the definition of someone who makes everyone else's life harder. She just got rescued from a slave contract by the director who paid for her damages and there she is being reckless again. Going off script was so out of line and just showed how she never thought about the team. Girl, you're not a TV star anymore, theater isn't a one-man show or a star-making vehicle for you.
The only reason why she hasn't been kicked out like 5 times is her talent and luck/plot armor. Like the show is already halfway done and I still find her frustrating and hard to root for. In fact, I find myself liking the bitchy perfectionist rival much more than her. I got mad when FL criticized her for 'copying' the previous actor because really, what makes your method acting so superior when you have such a big tendency to screw things up? UGH. Her character development needs to start NOW.
she only missed the rehearsals bcs she was rehearsing her own way. the street dancer provided what rehearsals…
I know, but acting is about teamwork and flow with other actors. She only thought about her own performance, yes she was desperate but it was very selfish of her.
The script has few flaws, but definitely not a 5/10 one.You don't watch enough closely.
How would you score it then? I think I'm being quite objective. The show started weird, peaked at eps 4-5 which I would actually rate 8/10 (good depiction of effects of trauma) then just kept going downhill since then. Now it's just illogical and morally wrong.
It's a nice looking and expensive production, but the characters are painfully generic so far and the story is quite obvious. For a 19(?) year-old who grew up selling fish and chasing away debt collectors, FL sure is immature and foolish. I tried to connect to her emotionally but she's frustrating at times. Not turning up for a single rehearsal was very shitty of her. She shined in the performance because the rival was experienced enough to match her. FL doesn't like her "attitude problem" but in fact, she needs to fix her own attitude too. Getting kicked out is a lesson she needs.
The others consist of spoilt rich kids A, B and C, angelic poor kind girl D and a fierce no-nonsense teacher. Most are quite one-dimensional and nothing really different from those in Disney movies. The only interesting characters to me are Okgyeong and the divorcee ex-singer.
tbh, while I don't like the development in eps 9 and 10, this has so far been such a good drama, and acting is…
It's a complex role in a badly written script. The writer had some interesting and complex ideas, threw in excessive backstories and flashbacks to justify the characters' questionable actions, and then abandoned said ideas without closure. It's like an experimental drama gone wrong.
Okay, saying she wasted her talent in the past few years is a huge exaggeration. Unless you're a chungmuro star…
After Mr Queen, she did 3 movies, of which only 1 broke even (normal considering state of the movie industry). She also did 3 dramas including this, only WTS did objectively well while SYIMNL and DH had very mixed feedback. All in all, she had 6 projects and only 2 did well.
This is not the trajectory you would expect after a major drama hit. In fact, she was actually doing better overall before MQ.

She scored a hit with Mr Queen, it was controversial but a hit nonetheless. You would expect her career to go up since then but it went down instead. Actors can’t create a success with acting alone, so they need to know how to pick good scripts. Picking too many duds will make her lose trust from viewers.
Shin Hye Sun fumbled the bag by choosing this drama. This is a poor quality, 5/10 script that was elevated by her 11/10 acting and the director's scenic shots. It didn't flop in ratings only because she actually has good chemistry with all 3 guys despite the weird narratives. Unfortunately, these can only elevate the drama to like 5.5/10 at best because nothing can salvage a badly planned story.
Imo, she/her agency needs to re-evaluate their choices. She's supposed to be an A-list actress but constantly confuses me by taking weird or mediocre projects. Her career in the last few years is the epitome of wasted talent and potential to me. Sorry to her fans but that's my honest opinion 🤷♂️
Yeah no I get what u mean. Absolutely loved her in revenant too. Sometimes it’s seems a bit over the top
Imo in her good moments, she's SO good that her talent shines through the screen. But then there are times that she overacts and it becomes overbearing. Even in Revenant I felt that to some extent. I guess she's just that kind of actor for me
Not to be an ass, but sometimes I find KTR's acting a little TOO over the top. Obviously she's a very good actress, just that she tends to shriek/whine a bit much for cheerful roles like this. I remember feeling the exact same way during the first episode of 25 21. I much prefer her in roles like Mr Sunshine. Her pansori sounds great though, can tell she practiced a lot for it.
