In a Vacuum, 3.3% is indeed a strong start. the average rating for a show to be considered success is around 2%.…
That's not an accurate measurement at all. Simply compare it to the premiere ratings of previous dramas in the same timeslot, and you will realize this has among the lowest ratings for a tvN weekend drama in a very long time (probably years). 3% would be good on small channels like ENA or Channel A.
Wow, almost nothing in this is working for me. Everything is just so jarring. From the insertion of chaebol tropes…
Ep 1 was at least sometimes entertaining with the whackiness. For ep 2 I felt like I was watching a biology class / space documentary except you can't take it seriously because of how ridiculous and dumb it seems.
Not bad, pacing is surprisingly fast and so much stuff happens within just one episode. I actually wanted it to go a bit slower. But when the ML and FL have scenes together, my level of interest drops sharply. The foundation for their relationship (which they barely have) is not exactly very interesting. Hope the story will be mostly about her journey.
Apart from the lead actors, it's just average. It presented itself as mysterious and unconventional, but in the end it was just a very standard kdrama plot with a Netflix-y soundtrack and aesthetic. It's like opening a beautiful trunk only to find nothing special inside. Disappointed but not surprised.
Lim Ji Yeon is a terrific actress whom I admire, but in some scenes here , she seems to overact. However, it's…
Honestly? Even in The Glory, her acting was over the top for me. But she committed to that style of acting throughout and made Yeonjin an iconic character. She was a nice contrast to the gloomy and stoic FL. It really depends on the tone and scenario of the show. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
This is a drama for a reason. And of course it's okay to drop a trending drama if it's not to your liking.
There are plenty of dramas that went the unrealistic/dramatic route but made it engaging and less clownish than this. This feels like something done up by a high schooler.
And yes of course I'm gonna drop it, I'm just very shocked that it's at 8.8.
I watched the first episode and my eyes almost rolled out from the cringe... The camerawork during the car scene was borderline horrible and failed to create any tension at all. The "twist" also felt ridiculous and a bit stupid. And this is a 8.8 on MDL?? 😬
All that "filling in the gaps in your voice with emotions/acting", only for her voice to magically come back and she hits the high notes perfectly? Okay... Just the 12345th time the show gave the FL plot armour I guess... And what is that ending? Where is the closure??? 😑
FL still thinks the world revolves around herself and we are already two-thirds into the show. The show is telling me to feel bad for her but seriously, I just get frustrated with her to no end. Ditching her partner to go ruin her voice in the mountains has got to be one of the most shitty things she did. Yes, Chorok used to bully her but she would have done the same if it was anyone else.
Call me heartless but she brought it all upon herself. She's not a child, she's 19. She needs to start THINKING, have some humility and learn a thing or two about being a team player.
This show is definitely well-made in many ways but I just find the FL severely unlikable. I'm sorry but she's the definition of someone who makes everyone else's life harder. She just got rescued from a slave contract by the director who paid for her damages and there she is being reckless again. Going off script was so out of line and just showed how she never thought about the team. Girl, you're not a TV star anymore, theater isn't a one-man show or a star-making vehicle for you.
The only reason why she hasn't been kicked out like 5 times is her talent and luck/plot armor. Like the show is already halfway done and I still find her frustrating and hard to root for. In fact, I find myself liking the bitchy perfectionist rival much more than her. I got mad when FL criticized her for 'copying' the previous actor because really, what makes your method acting so superior when you have such a big tendency to screw things up? UGH. Her character development needs to start NOW.
she only missed the rehearsals bcs she was rehearsing her own way. the street dancer provided what rehearsals…
I know, but acting is about teamwork and flow with other actors. She only thought about her own performance, yes she was desperate but it was very selfish of her.
The script has few flaws, but definitely not a 5/10 one.You don't watch enough closely.
How would you score it then? I think I'm being quite objective. The show started weird, peaked at eps 4-5 which I would actually rate 8/10 (good depiction of effects of trauma) then just kept going downhill since then. Now it's just illogical and morally wrong.
Also Eve Kim: Delays the opening of a door that is being broadcast on TV because she got distracted by 2 fruit flies mating for 20 minutes.
Yeah... sounds about right.
And yes of course I'm gonna drop it, I'm just very shocked that it's at 8.8.
