I don't know who told Kim Dami to act like a 10-year-old in this, but it's... not a great choice imo. Especially when the ML looks like a damn 35 year old man in a high school uniform (sorry but let's be real), I can't see them being very compatible with each other.
I don't really think they feel similar at all beyond the superficial similarities ("chef", "time slip").…
Okay, but nevertheless the production values are higher. I vaguely remember MQ having palace sets where the backdrop was just a painted/printed board, like those family soap operas. This show looks fancier and more grand in comparison.
So far it feels like a "safer", less creative or witty version of Mr Queen, with more cooking scenes. The only edge for me is the higher production values from Netflix. Can't help but compare because the premise is way too similar.
Good Boy has underperformed in ratings. It is JTBC's blockbuster that was expected to do much better than this. Bad writing aside, imo a big reason for this is in the title itself -- I've already watched PBG as a "good boy" character in all his shows, so why should I feel inclined to watch a show revolving around yet another one? It's star vehicle that failed to work.
Law and the City is just starting but it needs something more to get better ratings. For a show that is 70% eating and talking, you need to inject either some spice or heart.
So the moral of the story is... women should have babies even if it literally kills them? 😬
Also, there was a whole hooha about a bunch of human cells being thrown out, but when a woman dies it's just accounted for through a short monologue? Are we suggesting here that Eve was just a baby-making tool after all and her dying didn't really matter? 🤡 Or that she was redeeming her "sin" by paying with her life?? 🤮
... There's really no way to rate a drama 0/10 on this site, huh?
why do I feel like Kim Dami would have been better choice for this fl character? Bo young did good but it feels…
I think PBY isn't that suited to playing colder characters. She's a good actress, she just doesn't have that "unapproachable but attractive" quality. Watching this right after seeing Han Jimin in Love Scout made me realize this.
Okay I know he's young and has potential and all, but he really needs to work on his acting. I was surprised to see he had quite a number of leading roles before, cos watching him in Lady Ok is like watching a lost kid in a bunch of skilled actors. He looks perpetually scared/confused. Nothing annoys me more than someone who can't act in an otherwise perfect cast, in a show that is actually good.
Since he's probably the second ML, I hope he improves because his skill difference compared to the leads here is... huge. And this is a crime drama that usually requires actual acting chops 😩
This show is actually hilarious. The ML goes on and on about how those fertilized eggs are LIFE and how the FL is being a murderer by throwing them away (which is literally her job). Yes, and I am sure he would still be fertilizing the eggs like his life depends on it, if those were the eggs/sperm of a poor person. After all, all lives - human, rats, flies - matter! What a self-sacrificing hero! Actually, is this show meant to be a dark comedy that's mocking koreans' worship of chaebols? If that was the intention then I guess it's well done!
Also, you got to give it to them for portraying korean men as how most of them actually are: misogynists who will readily disrespect their female superiors (without any consequences). Finally, one aspect of the show that is true to real life! 👏👏👏
I'm currently reading the comments, and I can't help but wonder why people always only mention Interstellar when…
Idk why people are bringing up hollywood sci-fi masterpieces to defend this show, it is so counter effective. Interstellar is so many leagues ahead of this that mentioning it here is just gonna make this drama look even worse. It makes more sense to use the other korean sci-fi blockbusters as reference (though they all flopped lol).
The effects or production quality aren't even what everyone is complaining about, it's the plot. Even if you compare this script to a standard korean drama, it is still lacklustre and ridden with problems.
Writers seem to be going for a more realistic/emo feel to the story, but some parts are too extreme or not very logical. It just seems uneven. Flashbacks don't feel smooth and the jumping between timelines is quite counter effective. Overall, I get the impression that the director isn't very experienced.
Episode 4, I am dropping this. The first 20 minutes is an insult to human intelligence. Furthermore, all the sequences in every episode are way too dragged out. Male lead is a clown who keeps pulling the dumbest shit and he's not even repentant. I cheered so hard when he got slapped lol, which was the sign that I just can't stand him anymore.
This is what happens when writers write scenarios for specific actors. When the dramas are specifically created…
This is the problem with projects that are star vehicles rather than original stories. The process is to have a hallyu star as lead/hallyu star's agency produces the drama (which is what happened here), hallyu star brings investments + fan following --> writer writes story that plays to hallyu star's strengths --> story is usually trash.
I'm going to get flamed by his fans, but LMH has been sticking to like 2 character archetypes in his whole career -- aloof Prince Charming versions 1-10 or jokester puppy in love. The writers therefore have a very limited scope to work with, when he is the lead. This is why I usually avoid his dramas. We are seeing from this and The King Eternal Monarch's results that people are becoming less and less convinced with this strategy. In comparison, Pachinko's quality wasn't compromised because he is a side character.

Sorry not sorry 🤷♂️
