Wow those stills of LSS is giving me vibes of the great Brigitte Lin in Dragon Inn! She really looks ready to kick butts. Very excited for this drama and she looks fab in ancient costumes!
My first thought was that this drama was adapted from the novel Bone Painting Coroner (it is a really good novel!) but I searched and this book is a different one. I will still check out the drama. It sounds good and the similarity got me intrigued.
If you're suffering withdrawal now, as you've run out of episodes. I can satisfy, minutely, by offering up 'Sound…
I have to reply because Sound of the Desert is my favorite drama and Wei Wuji is my total favorite male lead character. So many awesome scenes between the main leads. Did I mention it's heartbreaking (not with the main couple) as well with a killer soundtrack? LOL
Came here after watching the episode of them filming this drama in Hahaha Happy to meet you with Deng Chao, Lu Han and Chen He. ? ? ? Too bad it wasn't the main leads' scenes being filmed.
My exposure to HSDS was the 90'sJet Li movie, some of the 2003 version with Alec Su, Alyssia Chia and Gao Yuan Yuan, hearsay from others and 31 episodes of this drama.
Let me start off by saying I love the movie, Jet's Zhang Wuji and Chingmy Yau's XiaoZhao and many other things. Then I watched some of the 2003 without knowing Alyssia or YuanYuan and got 2nd female lead syndrome and couldn't keep going because of that and Wuji's character.
Fast forward to this drama I just watched until yesterday and can no longer go on. I don't know anyone from this drama so no biased. I do like ZM in here but find Wuji's character such a turn off again. He's so wishy washy and would have died in 2 minutes if he wasn't lucky or didn't know the Nine Yang or Shift divine skills. I love Fan Yao's attitude when he came on...I laughed way more with his lines and thought, wish Wuji have a bit of his attitude. At least, I can see where ZM is coming from... she had a goal. If Wuji have just a tiniest bit of her ambition or even brain, he would be able to save and prevent a lot. If ZM had the Nine Yang or Shift skills, all the sects would have lost because she would deal with them in a split second and wasn't wishy washy. I could see also why the author would have ZM fall for Wuji. Otherwise, the sects would have a harder time dealing with the Mongols.
After 31 episodes, I can't go on anymore... I can't stand Wuji and how gullible he is and how he thinks he can lead a revolt / rebellion without any sacrifices. Then he keeps meeting ZM like they are friends even though many of his loved ones suffered as a result of them or when she keeps setting up traps and trying to kill them off. IMO, he has none of the smartness his mom or dad had. It's just very frustrating watching him.
I gave this drama a 6 stars out of 10 for the supporting casts! I enjoyed them so more than the main leads... the 7 Wu Dang members, grand shifu, Ming Cult leaders and even the villains. Too bad they aren't the main characters and couldn't make me keep going with this drama.
I'm officially done with trying to watch a whole series of HSDS. I'll go back to the movie if I need a dose of that. Thankfully, Jet Li's Wuji didn't get a chance to be so wishy washy and it could be because it's a movie but I'm glad that is so. Needless to say, I'm not a fan of ZM even in the movie version with the awesome Sharla.
Although I like the FL I think the face swap was a mistake. The first girl was much more beautiful, tragic and…
That's another thing. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
I thought the main girl is prettier... Not as skinny and more meat on her face thereby giving her a softer look. Even at the beginning and not knowing the story line or that she was going to change her face, I thought her maid was prettier.
But I digress. If you guys like then story, enjoy.
If anyone have the translated novel link, I would love to read it too!
The only book I've read by Eileen Chang was "Half a Lifelong Romance" and man, that was heart wrenching.
Will someone please spoil the ending of this story for me? Message me or mark it as spoiler. I want to know if they will get their happily ever after.
Thank you so much!

I'm glad I dived in not knowing the main leads so I have no bias and was able to enjoy the series.
