Finally caught up with the last 4 eps and all I have to say is:
Xiao Zhan exasperatedly saying: suiBIAN~~~!!
That is all.
PS I freaking loved the camera montage, though. I think they actually went and took some candid shots of people in Chongqing and as a matter of fact, I think that city is beautiful and I'll move there as soon as I win the lottery. The whole drama feels like an ode of love to that city.
pffft, yeah. lol I saw that too. Even though it only finished filming last month.🤣 More like Q4 2024. It's…
Who did? Also, that doesn't mean anything until it starts airing.
... In fact, lately it doesn't mean anything until it finishes airing LOL (I've seen at least two dramas that started and soon disappeared and only one returned, after a while, LOL.) C-ent do be crazy sometimes.
The sister is turning out to be absolutely despicable, sorry. Why the hell does she care what her much older sister does with her life? And even more, who the hell gave her the right to interfere so much in her sister's life? They were never really close, now she's made it her life's mission to set her up?
And on that note, Uncle Fang is also absolutely pathethic - I wanted to go through the screen and yell at him: She's not into you, AT ALL. Leave the heck be.
The hockey couple and the uncle are turning out to be absolutely insane. Even the scumbag cougar-fixing ex isn't reaching that level of scumminess.
I am getting a bit frustrated with JB just continuing being nice to the asshole. I mean, okay, he was of help with the sister, but that doesn't give him bargaining rights over how she gets to live and "return to the right path". I'd've decked him right then and there. At least the ex respected her for what she is. This idiot wants the picture-perfect nuclear family where he gets to settle the little wifey in his nest and "guide" her. Raised all my hackles.
SY moping, SY trying hard to mediate his mom's blunder, SY dancing because she's dancing were all moods. Sadly, I don't think it will last much longer (because there's just a few eps more and then she really HAS to be getting really mad at all of them crowding her hard. Something's going to give, and soon,)
Can I just get into the screen and kill that sister? Can't she see that her sister is happier with another guy…
"I'll race you!" - slams his face on the gravel. ... 5 minutes later: "I'll race you!!!" - proceeds to slam his face into the gravel again.
The man has zero drunken grace, LOL. And she had to carry him home and pour him into the bed. I'd have LOVED a scene where she took him to his actual home - imagine the parents' faces hahaha.
I truly have no idea how employment contracts and workers' rights are in China, but most anywhere else in the…
Maybe that's what he offered - to let the ex-team leader off the hook and he won't sue him for what he did to ruin the event and pin SY as the guilty party. He definitely doesn't have anything else to bargain with...
Is it just me or does anyone else think that Junjie coming up to Jian Bing's door and her opening it, while SY is looking at them in surprise looks like that meme where the guy with a girl on his arm is turning to look at another girl, LOL? And that if someone knows how to make a gif, JB is the YBY role and the guys are... waiting for it to be announced officially?
No one? Just me, then? Oh well :D
I've found excuses for the ex, because he's just a flawed human, but now he's sliding into the worst of scum - he's giving all pretense of being reasonable when SY is desperate enough to take his help, and then he's throwing him to the cougars. And If JB won't follow them, who knows. Anyway he'll be extremely humiliated in front of her, no matter how it ends. The ex could probably predict what would happen and set it all up. I say we burn his effigy with fire.
Also, is it just me or is the uncle REALLY creepy lately? He was pretty okay-ish (for a side chara) for a while, when he just wanted to find another human person (nephew aside) to talk to him in a personal manner. But now he's breathing in her space, crowding her in her own home - sister or not, I'd've thrown him out. WTH was all that leering around her? Someone should tell him she's not all that into him (as in, at all.)
I wonder what compensation did SY have to promise the ex-team leader to drop the charges. It's frustrating he's allowing pride to stop him from talking to her directly, because most of the misunderstanding would be immediately solved.
People are complex. They can be totally reasonable on one subject, but lose their minds over another. We don't…
He's not a total bastard, he's a cheater. That's not worth public shaming and scorn. He is human. Not MY favourite kind of human, but not the devil. Outside his relationship with his ex, he still had a life.
I think somehow dramaland has taught viewers to expect only extremes - either the best of the best, or the worst of the worst.
Considering some ex-spouses I've seen, he is practically cute, what with caring so much about his ex that he's ready to defend her honour when he thinks SY is spurning her, despite him WANTING to have SY leave ASAP for territories unknown, LOL. Yes, nobody asked him to do anything or get so worked up, but he CARES and that's the whole thing.
I don't like him much, but still, he doesn't need to be demonised.
... The director who decided to cut some of the latest eps so that they include too many extras, well, I might consider demonising HIM/HER...
People are complex. They can be totally reasonable on one subject, but lose their minds over another. We don't…
Err.... you're not supposed to sympathise with him, I think he's there mainly as a comic relief and a wall of ~unreasonable and possessive men~ canvas against which SY's perfection can be shown in stark contrast, LOL. I mean... it's pretty obvious, right? Either of them are unrealistic, let's be honest. I've been 26 myself and I definitely was not myself - or others of my age - that mature and/or considerate of anyone else's feelings TO THAT EXTENT.
SY and his family dynamics is the absolute best way to live, IMHO. We all love them because they're amazing, but let's not pretend we personally know anyone who lives like that, even with the benefit of doubt since we only see the outside of them. But nobody who fights like that makes up so smoothly, nobody has always an optimistic view of the world, nobdy can pass over life's trials with so much peace of mind.
TBH, I love the quiet manner things are happening - even the fights (no throwing of things, no constant yelling, just regular people trying to communicate), but they're a bit saintly, LOL. Then again, that's why I'm watching the drama, if I wanted passionate (and yelling, and fighting and regular manic lovers) I'd've watched some xianxia blockbuster right now, LOL.
Oh well, I'm enjoying the pace (with the sudden impulse to check my phone when the hockey couple and the uncle are on-screen) and I think it's saddening it's coming into it's last third soon :(
Great to see Sheng Yang going his own way with two people who he can trust. It's not going to be easy but it is…
People are complex. They can be totally reasonable on one subject, but lose their minds over another. We don't fit completely into any one mould.
I can see ShanShan's POV. She's still friends with JB and so she does have her interest in mind - and she is way more free in her lifestyle than her friend. She wouldn't see any problem into dating anyone you like, no matter any other issues but that you liked them. Why wouldn't she advise JB to follow her heart?
As for Xue - they just divorced. It's not like there's a switch to throw and everything related to the person you've lived with for ten years just goes away. It's normal he's being affected, particularly since they're still into each other's spaces.
As for the uncle and the hockey team, the less said the better. At least they've been missing for a whole episode, I count it as a win.
Also, SY getting booted off Pan Rou's attention field that is now completely taken over with Song Chen. I approve.
Also, Sheng mom being reasonable and relenting.
Also the two JB guys bonding over getting into a fight. Only one of them is bruised though, LOL.
(I think the hockey couple was in the eps, I didn't really pay attention.)
Also JB saying since men mature later than women, then all relationships are between older women and younger men, hahaha!
I don't think there'll be a split at this time. If there is one in the last ep, then what the heck were they waiting for?
ALL HAIL COMMUNICATION!! (Even when a little bit of misunderstanding is warranted.)

There's that mountain. They could jump off it. Just sayin'.

Also, SY style walk of shame - twice in one episode. I like that LOL.

Oh well, we shall see.

Also, dad Sheng:: I want to eat the breakfast my son bought me.
Can he be more precious?
And Song Chen on the detective track, being his most sincere self with Pan Rou. I ship them hard. Let's give them a win!
Say what you will, but listen: when SY is wearing the damned stain tshirt, things ALWAYS go his way. Let him wear it LOL.
PS ShanShan with the advice about men - spot on! She's being a little gray on the BFF department, but she knows her stuff, LOL.
