He and Ji Sung were awesome together, in less than half an hour they acted like they were old friends, great body language on both sides. I'd love to see them again in some drama.
This is a AoS part 1 appreciation post! Show some love in the comments below! 🫶What do you love about the show?…
1. Special effects and colour filters. They really bring up the level of production that went into this.
2. Probably Jang Uk, but the gisaeng who is Mu-Deok's friend at the brothel is very close (she's Joo Wol or am I mistaking her for someone else?) And then the Crown Prince.
3. Jang Uk getting whipped. Yeah, I'm a sadist. But at the time it fit the story, and it was acted beautifully.
4. Just Watching You. I can't get enough of it. Actually, the first 3 songs of the OST (3rd, 1st, and 2nd, in that order, LOL).
5. Dark Uk. I want to see a revenge arc. I hope they keep the romance lighter. I want to see a bloodbath LOL. Sorry, I did mention I was a sadist. Also, I'd love it if they kept the production value high. I like fantasy that looks well-filmed.
Well... that's it for now, I guess. Though the preview of the S2 looks pretty good :D
I mean, Jang Uk comes back from the dead like he's Wei WuXian coming back from wherever, LOL. I can deal with a darker Uk.
But I am SO heartbroken over him and the Crown Prince breaking it off presumably forever... CP had made a wonderful recovery where he began being actually interesting as a future king. Now I guess he's going to either be the main villain of S2, or just die in the end... So sad.
Jang Gang served NO purpose whatsoever, why the heck did he have to come back then? Just to have a really short chat with his not/son and then die? And why is he petrified THEN made into dust and blown away? The others didn't.
Seo Yul is really a disappointment... He NEVER EVER gets out of the straight line, not even for his forever loved one. I guess that's why Uk got her instead and not him. Though I did tear up a little when they played "Watching You" - that sounds like an awesome love lullaby and I love that song.
That idiot So-Yi really messed him up anyway... Whatever the heck was she thinking, translating what's basically a Gu Worm into his body?! You don't do that to people you love!! She's SO stupid, I hope she doesn't come back in S2.
BTW, the preview not showing Mu-Deok in her current body is just cheating, LOL, I'm 99% certain she (Bu-Yeon) will also make a reappearence. But well, it makes more sense to keep it secret, if she appears or not.
RE: dark Uk. Yes please. I loved the shiny sparkly boy, like everyone else, and his ribbon too LOL, but yes, it's definitely time to make him more dark. And moody. And hearbroken along with us, why not.
I just hope DangGu and his lover actually end up married, though they too look to be pretty grim in S2's preview. 10 eps won't be enough :D
Ok now I'm kind of lost. Also, Mr. Kim (cute HWS fan) - nooo! I hope it's just a plot twist and they change it,…
The story has too many eggs up in the air at the same time.
SIH is doing NOTHING - they keep being reactive and losing people, it's like the Sherwood Forest here where the merry men (Team A) do whatever they want while the sherriff's men watch helplessly. That SIH leader/captain whatever deserves all he will probably get. I've never seen such an useless team leader, and I've watched some messed-up dramas, I can tell you.
Then, why would HyeSoo (probably) send SSH and invitation? If it's Mrs. Kim instead (probably, same chances as my first option), what is she after? Though I have to say it - Mr. Kwon making her realize soooo well how unimportant she is in the grand scheme of things, despite her son's heart literally beating in Mr. Kwon's chest, now that was a good scene.
How the heck is Mr. Park another SIH person? And why would he accuse them of being whoever he was going to accuse them of being, if he could OPEN the f*cking case from the beginning? If it's a SIH-related PIN, then whoever got the case is SIH. It's not rocket science. And why would he REMOVE the case anyway?!!
I hope they didn't kill Mr. Kim (the HWS fan) though I don't hold much hope. It was breezed over so fast, what happened, did the actor get into some scandal, LOL? It was like they were just... moping up some dust. His role seemed more important than that initially.
The Ms. Kim (reporter) subplot is beyond stupid and is making me really mad. What, they strapped her with 20 kgs (how much could she carry anyway, given the psycho tortured her for days and put nails in her legs?!) of some kind of explosive, and they expect the WHOLE tower of the SIH bureau to come down? Seriously? And Sun really did "check"where the SIH were, but went to the safe house anyway, the safe house that's connected to the tower by a secret corridor that's accessible from inside both locations, and nothing above ground gives it away, and where Mrs. Lee (agent who died) only had the flashlight?! GAH.
SSH really will probably end up dead. I expected he'd be also calm and rational - given he's a prosecutor, but he's a firebrand with no forethought actions. And oh, he was declared dead but a few days later he's okay to call his colleagues and calmly ask for files already closed and whatnot - I mean, his fellow prosecutor also died, and was in the trunk of the car that exploded and "killed" SSH with it.
I mean... WHAT the heck, writer-nim?!
I don't really like it, most of the part that works is HWS, and now it looks like there's a chance for that too to go awry.
Ok now I'm kind of lost. Also, Mr. Kim (cute HWS fan) - nooo! I hope it's just a plot twist and they change it, though right now, they're going full-on Game of Thrones and offing people left and right. Still missing Mr. Baek, so far he had the BEST chemistry with SSH, bar none. I want both actors (can't find Mr. Baek's actor's name in the cast, is he "mysterious man"?) to play some hard-boiled detectives in some drama together. They'd be perfection.
Just get me some WDH, and I won't mind some actual bromance. not one tiny bit! I liked SHY as the rookie cop in Bad&Crazy, that part of the drama was the best IMHO. So let us have it. Though I think they're kind of ambitious to have this out this year, what, there are some 4 months left? Are they planning to air it while filming? Is that still done? Or did most dramas these days get pre-produced?
Anyway, much eye candy coming our way, I can't wait. Please let it be a good drama with a solid plot, though, WDH's talent seriously deserves some recognition!
SSH is SO reckless. He keeps doing impulsive things, I don't want to jinx it but he's got a serious death wish.
Mrs. Kwon is going to make some trouble for Mr. Kwon, LOL. Though for consistency's sake I'll just mention that tree looked fake as hell and the wall it was in front of didn't have any windows. So all tree-huggers who were enraged, be calm. The actual tree is definitely still standing.
So, Team A decided to destroy an electricity node, then the higher EMF waves usage would indicate where the SIH was hiding because they had a generator, but then Sun found the safe house first, where Mrs. Lee (this time the SIH agent) had only a flashlight? Or were they both in the tower? And now SSH - because why not - is running there too?!
HyeSoo was something this ep. She joined the cast of crazy (and vindictive) people in that mansion. Now there's basically nobody sane left, minus HWS and Dongrim. And Agent Kim is also proving to be with the Dark Side of the Force. I hope he's not in Team A, though, maybe he really is just some undercover police officer SIH doesn't know about. Here's hoping.
The Adamas being fake was what killed Mrs. Jang. I thought she was going to say something along the lines that in process of moving the stones, she found some dry blood in its casing or something, but it turns out she just realized it was all fake and Mr Lee (this time the psycho Team A boss) had another knee jerk reaction. He and SSH are a match made in heaven, if they ever fight it all out, it'll be a battle of kaiju, LOL, each getting a punch in and being punched in return until someone folds.
And Mr Lee (this time the twins' bio dad) is twisty, I like that.
My respect for the Team A went down a bit though, given ALL the team (who know what the twins look like) didn't manage to catch SSH and Ms. Kim and also NOBODY thought to give their boss a heads-up SSH was still alive. I'd fire them all, or kill them, LOL, whatever's faster, if I were their boss.
Hey guys so now I am reading the novel and I have a doubt .. did Shizun like mo ran from the start.???.. like…
They didn't like each other from the first. In their first lives, MoRan was kind of angry at Shizun, always trying to shield ShiMei from Shizun's "biased" treatment of him/her(? I mean, he always thought he was a girl, I guess the drama just changed the character into a girl and that's it, LOL). Shizun was trying hard to make them disciplined and fulfilled, but MoRan would have none of it. They really were in a cat and dog situation.
By the time of their second lives, yes, MoRan (or TaXian-Jun, rather) was already obsessed with Shizun because of events in the ending of their first lives, and Shizun, despite the way he was treated under the mad emperor, did care for him. How much of that was actually love, I can't say, because MBDEM (the author) likes S/m relationships, it looks like.
So no, even if there was an attraction (because Shizun is well... WanNing of the Night Sky. I love that name. Just his title tells you he'd be ethereal, and Luo YunXi will fit the role like a glove :D), the attraction wasn't enough from the beginning. It develops slowly, but by the time MoRan got his second chance, it was already there. THAT part of the story is beautiful.
...I SO wish they left the stairs scene untouched, that's my favourite part. If they mess it up, I'll go cry in a corner.
I didn't watch it, I don't know Chinese. Dramacool has it in its lineup (first eps anyway), it was a surprise. I couldn't even watch the opening, and now the person above said they changed the whole main cast, I don't know if I will watch it :(
I hope it's just a mixup of titles and it's not actually S2 of MHH...
PS Before anyone mentions taking to the high seas etc, LOL, I CANNOT watch dramas in DC because I'm using Chrome and it doesn't WANT to play any embedded videos in DC :D But I can see their lineup, and that's about all I can use it for :D
Yes, it gets moving way faster after eps 4, 5, thereabouts. And now they're on a rollercoaster and it's just the…
I commented before that ep 6 suddenly turned from something steady-paced (like a Poirot detective story) to The Bourne Identity, LOL Up to and including gruesome torture and killings.
Stick with it at least until then, for the Byzantine personal relationships if nothing else. Mrs. Kwon will also provide a huge surprise. The drama is heating up continuously.
This just dropped 10 episodes (raw for now, no sub in sight), I HATE it when they do that. Is there any info on weibo about how many eps in total, schedule, etc, ANYthing?!
EDIT So I took a LONGER look at the titles and whatnot. The one in DC is titled My Heroic Husband 2, but I think it's a mislabel (oof). I think it's actually My Bossy Wife, which has a very similar name (last two words are the same).
Sorry for the false info, people. It's a good thing, though. If they had changed the whole cast... well. It would've been bad.
TaeHo - noo! He's just a Stockholm Syndrome husband in love with a psycho, don't kill him show! Though it seems like he got suicided anyway. Who CAN do that to their own husband who loves them enough to be quiet and allow them to basically kill them?!
I vote NaNa as the mastermind killer of the series, she's too mad to even react like a human being. Even her idiot and violent brother is understandable, but her mind is too twisted to even perceive human emotions normally... If TaeHo is going to stay dead, I'm glad for the character's sake - nobody deserves to be tortured like that by the person they love.
Oh well, moving on.
The psycho cousin from S1 reappeared - I thought he was dead. Goes to show the lengths a drama will go to in order to have MORE than one psycho in it LOL. I do NOT like the way he's teaching NaNa to hit OJH's softest spots. His family is his Achilles' heel, and he was SO happy for half this season, I loved to see him smile. Now he's going to go back to antidepressives and insomnia, is he?
Stupid Chief's daughter is stupid, there, I've said it. They gave her a nice out, and she stayed, because she's stupid. Now that TaeHo is gone, will she stay in place and be NaNa's gullible spy on OJH? For her sake, I hope not.
But... the story is turning darker, now they've brought in OJH's past. I would like to see that part of his backstory solved... but also can we please (with a cherry on top) have the psycho cousin die for real? Let's ask NaNa to stage an accident for him...
When you're done with TU, and if you liked the Yi City Arc (Xue Yang/Xiao XingChen), you might give a try to the…
In dramas based on novels, there usually isn't an episodic story, or if it is, it's related to the main story, not the main story itself. But there are a lot of dramas based on (web)novels, and even more donghua for them.
For BL, the donghua are more wide-spread, and less censored. You have (from MXTX's danmei novels) Mo Dao Zu Shi (the same story as The Untamed, a different approach), Scum Villain's Self-Saving System (SVSSS is a delight, I highly recommend it, and the novel itself, because the ML Shen QingQiu is AWESOME and the System of the story is a hoot LOL), Heaven Official's Blessing (the same story as in Eternal Faith), and from more others - A Thousand Autumns got a season of donghua, then Dinghai Fusheng Records also got a season (I lost track, since they got a strange release calendar) and so on. IMHO, they're getting a bit more courageous, who knows, we might get a donghua 2ha first, before the live action makes it on screen. Though I am SO waiting for Chu Wanning!! :D
Dramas and donghua usually don't fool around inventing characters, at most they'd expand or restrain a bit of the existing characters. But usually they stay pretty faithful to the original source. Sadly, some of my favourite danmei/isekai novels won't probably see an adaptation, since most of them are about rebirth or transmigration, LOL.
You could try a novel just to see if you'd like them. Depending on who's doing the TL, and availability, it could be a hit or miss. MXTX's novels are getting officially published in English (in multiple volumes, since they're huge books), and there are a few good TL groups doing lots of BL for good stories (2ha is finished, 14th Year of Chenghua/Sleuth of Ming Dynasty is also finished, Thousand Autumns, the awesome Qiang Jin Jiu, Golden Stage, How To Survive as a Villain, and then there are the non-historical, like Seizing Dreams (there's also a live drama based on it, rumoured in post-production already) or Rebirth of a Movie Star. There are lots of info on them on novelupdates.
Ahh... should I have mentioned not to ask (or even hint) to a book-fanatic any kind of interest about books? :D This is why. Enjoy WoH :)
PS Ji Sung is a treasure, I loved him in KMHM, but in Devil Judge he out-did himself. Plus, it's a sleek, believable dystopia, and as I said... he and JinYoung together are fire.
When you're done with TU, and if you liked the Yi City Arc (Xue Yang/Xiao XingChen), you might give a try to the…
Similar to The Untamed, or Wuliang?
Not really, no. But then, the difference is what makes all of them good.
Cdramas you can check out -
Word of Honor (wuxia this time). You say you want angst, there'll be angst. They're also not afraid of offing MCs. Not the most important of them, but MCs nevertheless. The author of the novel it's based on - Priest, author of Faraway Wanderers - is the author of Guardian, too. I find her writing style kind of dry, and I don't really enjoy her novels, but WoH shines in chemistry between the MLs. I mean, Gong Jun is always amazing, and Zhang Zhe Han had great comedic expressions, timing, and a sense for drama. They make up what's lacking in terms of plot (that is, some parts are related to OTHER novels and if you haven't read them, there are characters that appear out of nowhere and the watcher is supposed to know how they're important... which I did not.) But there are TONS of PDAs, way more than in TU. And as I already said... Gong Jun is AMAZING. And he keeps calling the other MC "Ah-Xu" LOL, you'll like that, if you like WWX calling LWJ "Lan Zhan" non-stop :D
Another one you could try, another wuxia - The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty. This one has much less PDAs than either TU and WoH, but it excels in cuteness and smart-aleck MCs. There's a (interest) triangle, but no LOVE triangle, since one of the corners is a Royal Eunuch, LOL, but he - the eunuch - is my favourite character. I love smart people in dramas. And I love the hilarious moments. Here's a glance at it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3uDnvIY710
Now, if you want to try a modern drama... There's Under the Skin. That too has amazing chemistry between the leads, but it's a police story, not a romance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Es6YGakhzNM Tan Jian Ci, playing one of the leads, is supposed to be in Winner is King, another wuxia BL adaptation... but given the current Chinese stance on danmei, that will probably be a long time coming.
OR, if you want FIRE, but still not BL... you can take a look at The Devil Judge (SK drama). If you haven't discovered Ji Sung yet... this is the drama you should watch. And JinYoung does an amazing job. When they're on screen together, they're sizzling.
They're all good - they're not The Untamed. For more TU, there's a three-season donghua (anime) featuring the same voice actors, and it's a pretty good adaptation, with another great score and good (and more) special effects (guess it's easier to draw them than CGI them in, LOL), the chibi donghua (sweet enough to give you highs LOL), the (almost) uncensored audio drama (yes, with THOSE kind of scenes and the sounds associated with them, too), and obvously the novel itself.
Which, if you like Mo Dao Zu Shi / Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, will open a whole new world of danmei novels to you. The author's (Mo Xiang Tong Xiu) other novels are also good - my favourite is Scum Villain's Self-Saving System, it's hilarious! and they're getting donghua adaptations too.
For the future, if the Chinese ever relent on BL (which they typically do after a while), there's the afore mentioned Winner is King, and the already in post-production Immortality (2ha, erha, The Dumb Husky and His White Cat Shizun), featuring Chen FeiYu (he was great in the first season of Evernight) and Luo YunXi (one of my faves; you can watch him in Ashes of Love, he has a great presence there; or, if you're not adverse to modern Chinese comedies, in Love is Sweet, with Bai Lu - another fave of mine :D)

Here's a funny FMV, not too spoilery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fosOwbkH8xU
That too has amazing chemistry between the leads, but it's a police story, not a romance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Es6YGakhzNM
Tan Jian Ci, playing one of the leads, is supposed to be in Winner is King, another wuxia BL adaptation... but given the current Chinese stance on danmei, that will probably be a long time coming.

Okay, fan gushing over, but you did ask :D
And it's going to be Jang Gang's own touch, I guess that's what's going to drive the next season...
