It's not as much as they should have REMAINED, as those seemed to be TRAITS of character, and one doesn't grow "out" of them. Well, not being mysterious, that's also obvious. But I'm sad to say that there was a lot of hectic action, a lot of yelling, and a lot of showing of incipient powers - and repetitive special effects - and a lot less softer moments. And the soft moments were what got me into this drama, so I really felt the loss.
Not every drama is everyone's cup of tea. But this one started really promising and - for me at least - fell somewhere along the way to the ending. So I guess I can be disappointed, can't I?

Because it was so good in the beginning, people got really interested, the ratings soared, and then they decided to have a second season pretty much as the filming was moving toward the end episodes. The original writer and the rest of the production team had a disagreement on how to proceed so they parted way, not sure at which episode. For certain at least the last 4 were not written by the OW. And here we are.
And who the #@#%%$^ wrote this finale?? This had the cringiest dialogue in all the dramas I've watched this year and past, and I watch A LOT of Thai BL, so I know of what I speak. Soooooo cringy. I hope it was all lost in the translation or something, because NONE of the characters acted IN character for the first half of the episode.
When I remember how much I loved this in its first 8-maybe-10 episodes, I could cry.
Not certain I'll give season 2 a try, to be honest. I don't have much hope they'll manage to unf**k it, if they keep veering toward lots of action - in tailored suits, FGS!!! - and less of what I actually loved - the forming of a found family, the shy Moon, the quiet Ha-Na, the mysterious Mo-Tak and the lovely Mrs. Chu...
I don't care any more, and it took only a few episodes to destroy that cohesiveness... I don't care if it remains popular, and people watch it and praise it, a lot of the magic is gone. I've rated it high-ish mostly for the first half, which was amazing, but it's such a disappointment...

The whole drama is amazing, but WTH is episode 15?!!! I am in freaking tears. Dammit. It's been so long since I reacted this way to any episode... A masterpiece!
I loved that her first reaction after seeing who was sleeping next to her was to close her eyes - I bet she's thinking next time she's going to open them it'll be someone else or nobody LOL.
So... did they spend the night together doing IT? Did they?
Everybody's after their blood now, so sad. But this time the King is definitely on his Queen's side, and maybe KBI won't change affections quite so quick either.
RE: the filming. How on Earth do they explain that the King was so deeply wounded on his face that blood was seeping through, but next day - or the second day but not longer than that - his face is untouched?
Not that I complain, mind. I could watch his face a lot. He has great expressions.
Edit: so I guess KSH's real soul/her memories got stuck at the bottom of the lake? That moment was very emotionally charged but I HAVE to admit...

LOL. You need to read more, and get some hints on how-to-approach-your-SO's-family-when-they're-acting-strange. It doesn't get better, though, LOL, YH is trying to be a peacekeeper all the time, with everybody.
Be zen in your time of need. Breathe in, breathe out, filter all the unceassing clutter or family-speech, LOL. It doesn't work any other way.
But don't go in alone, have some more BEAR HUGS, in case you need them :)
Things improve on their story, though it'll be a while. A rather long while (think about the 50-70 chapter line, or thereabouts.) Hang on, it's a great story!
That wasn't so bad, in the end. I'm all the way in Team Dong-Pal, why couldn't he come sooner? Dong-Pal is a breath…
Also, glad the Mayor's kid will (probably) get a redemption arc BEFORE he becomes an evil spirit. I was expecting he was going to become the next Counter, but I guess it's either not in the manhwa, or too far from the original plot to make it happen so fast.
But. Does this mean that So Moon can only get new powers when a new Yung person comes into him?! Wi-Gen gives him control of territory, will Dong-Pal give him healing?
For some reason, the whole episode felt like a side-plot (probably because it was, or I see no way they'd work in a cameo appeareance...) and YET, strangely, it finally moved the plot toward the ending in a very satisfying manner.
Here's hoping there's some amazing grace left for the finale, and that it gives (me) us some adequate reason to wait for season 2 (two episodes ago I wasn't that keen in watching that, if it ever happened. This episode rekindled some interest. I really, REALLY hope they give us a good ending.)
Edited to add: also, why the F*** doesn't anybody in this show actually use weapons?! Like real weapons. I know they don't have a lot of guns in SK, but dammit, get a kitchen knife if you're going to fight an Ultimate Level Spirit, just to slow him down. Or if the Counters won't just to keep the original souls in, for the purpose of police finally doing their work... why don't the spirits, then? Get a crowbar, get a knife, get a gun, you're criminals anyway!! What's with the whole fist-and-foot struggles? Makes me SO frustrated with the whole fighting as is. It was okay in the beginning, but they're fighting upper levels now... Go Indiana Jones on them already!

Well, you KNOW I went and re-read a few chapters last night because why not? And I finally followed the link and watched the song... I just might watch the movie because of it (and Wang Talu, just to see how different he is from ''The Wolf". )

If YH in the series sings the song or not would depend on copyrights, I think. Though I don't know how that works in China. Maybe they just can go ahead with it and not bother, or maybe they'll have to pay for the use... dunno.

IMHO, his best performance yet (that I've seen) is in "Life on Mars". I haven't watched the UK or US versions and I don't mean to, after watching the SK one. The twist at the end is not as much a twist as a point of choice for the viewer, in what to believe is actually going on.
That drama is still one my favourites, and I don't think I've yet seen anything to top it in SK dramaland.

Also, from an non-Korean watcher's POV, her writing looks atrocious. He was sending her small, well-written calligraphic sentences, and she was sending half-painted, smeared, half-page disasters, LOL. I think he knows it was her.

So we all know Yu Hao is devastatingly poor, so much so that he almost committed suicide because he was wrongly accused of theft and he saw no way out. Well, after Zhou Sheng and Fu Liqun take him under their wings, so to speak, Chen Yekai finds him a better paying part-time job and he gets to make some money from it.
And the lovable idiot spends most of it on very pricey (particularly for him) gifts for Zhou Sheng and Fu Liqun. He gets them both trademark shoes, ZS's are a very limited edition, and he (ZS) doesn't even wear them until a very special day that I WON'T spoil you on, because it's such a great surprise. FLQ wears his pair all the time, and even comments on their value comparing them with gifts he got from his lover, LOL.
I mean, the poor guy works himself to the bone and the very first thing he does with his hard-earned money... is spend it on a b-day gift for his hopeless one-sided love.
I just love Yu Hao. He's precious, and I want to take him home and kiss him and hug him and squeeze him and call him George LOL.
If whoever imagined that poster did it with the intention of subtly implying those ARE the very shoes ZS got for his b-day... That is genius. And if they did it by happenstance, well, people like me will read a hidden meaning into it anyway. I hope it's planned and not a happy accident. I really REALLY want to see the gift-giving, and the special day moment, too.
