Ep 34, everybody in da house is a crybaby. And did Xie Zheng tutor ChangYu on how to act in the court? 'Cause…
Even so, I liked it. There was finally some Court plot moving along, the puppet Emperor finally has some character traits other than giggling when his ministers are fighting. Even poor incompetent and arrogant Wei Xuan has some more backstory - what, is he really a bastard? It looks like his father just keeps him away from any decision-making because he's weak. Even calling him a child, basically - he's not happy with the offspring.
And how could Wei Xuan think the PM actually likes Xie Zheng LOL? That "what, does Xie Zheng want to become another Wei Yan now" was so chilly. That man is already planning how to get rid of our matrilocal husband.
Li Huai'an is still tormented, I am pretty sure by now he'll turn again. He can't seem to just accept his betrayal and deal with it by finally picking a side, whichever it is.
The Emperor gets hit by everybody - the PM is directly threatening him, the PR is directly hitting him too, he can't catch a break. It's only the poor eunuch swearing forever love (I'll bet he'll run away the second he can).
Still too little of our leads together - and what, is Mr Jin going to be third wheeling each and every time? And what right does he have to get jealous? Go away. Or the Marquis will hit YOU.
The Imperial Court is kind of in complete disarray. Who actually rules there? It's not the Emperor. The Dowager Empress isn't in control of the harem either. The PM and the Grand Tutor are busy throwing barbs at each other - when and WHO does govern?! People have DIED for these "leaders" - like, what the heck!

This person is a perfect technician who knows all tech aspects of filming a drama, and is also the best informed person on how a director, cast, cinematographer, music composer, writer, and not last, actors, should all do their jobs! We should all hail the master of perfection in their perfection! Wow!
That being said, they're been a sad assh@le as usual. Don't mind it.
Project Hail Mary is 95% rotten. I think I'll finally go to the theatre for the first time in forever.
That will be the movie that gets me into the theater once I get some free time. When the trailer came out last year I went ballistic. I can't believe a whole year already passed and PHM is already showing OMG
The two ministers fighting and the emperor trying to mediate is just too funny. These people cannot be the ones…
The Emperor is not mediating, he's checking the winds to see who he should appease more. He's a puppet of the Wei faction. He's sitting on a really fragile throne.
I don't get it. Wasn't the princess engaged to Li Hui'an? How can she then be engaged to the marquis even without…
She and Xie Zheng used to have a childhood engagement. Then he went missing and the Dowager Empress used the moment to dissolve that engagement and quickly find someone important politically as an ally to push her into marriage with. That one was Li Huai'an.
Then Xie Zheng returned, and he's in PM Wei's faction by family, so PM Wei had his puppet Emperor undo the LHA engagement again. Little does he know Xie Zheng's taken.
IQIYI has always better subs but at least it's not MGTV
I am in tears every time I remember Wolf Hunter (still no reliable subs). And I pushed myself through I Don't Want to Be Brothers With You with the original machineTL, LOL, before Viki got it.
Do not hurt yourself with anything Mango-subbed unless it's on another platform too. They're Qi Min levels of brutal on one's mind LOL.
On 33th. Every drunk's promise: I am NOT drrrunkg. Drunhkfd. Drunksh1!Also, that poor window (plus the extra wheels…
The f!! I actually cared that the Sui-the-Older did that to Sui-the-Younger!! Wow. I mean, I was kind of certain there was NO brotherly love between them, but it looks like Qi Min actually cared a bit. Other than wanting to kill them all, that is. He didn't really want to kill Sui-the-Younger, but also really did want to kill him (because he's crazy. They both are crazy).
I almost wanted to be sorry for S-t-Y, BUT!!! He brought the bandits to Lin'an. All the pretty girls giggling for Yan Zheng's braised meat ONLY are now dead because of him. He should've suffered more.
Though those scenes were beautifully shot. For all the beautiful cinematography this drama showed me, I am starting to get mad at the scenes that don't make the cut anymore. Why can't it all be like that?!
I like that Li Huai'an is a tormented traitor. Suffer more, do. If he actually had a hand in bringing Qi Min back as a pretender... then he caused a lot of deaths too.
Again very few (and a bit disjointed) scenes with our leads. Yeah, I know he's jealous, and what with him calling her his wife and being corrected over and over back to his status of matrilocal husband (why doesn't anyone mention they're supposedly divorced?) and then asking for kisses (and destroying paper windows LOL) - HOW did they get there? I feel like I've skipped a scene or two, and I promise you I've been paying attention.
I like this Mr. GongSun, I really do. He somehow reminds me of the mischievous nature of Zhu Yan, like. Li Qin doesn't look a tad like Hou MingHao in real life, though, LOL. How come GongSun Yin looks a bit like a character HMH would play? Also, Princess, let's not be too greedy. Leave him a XiangQi manual or two for himself, he needs to study.
I like these eps - except I really want more of our leads. What with all the dealings of the rest of the characters - WHAT ABOUT THEM?!
Tae Seo: I never look back on things. Buddy, you never looked or moved forward. Everything's her. She: dumps another…
Well, I liked The Witch's first eps, it just... somehow slided to the "uninteresting" side. And I never went back to it, like that.
This one - he DOES have a great face card as they say. And I hoped he (the character) would grow a spine. But half the series in, he didn't. Watching the character specially going out to buy food for her while she doesn't even pick up after herself, like she owns the place, scratched my "she's entirely unlikable" bone. (He's 30!!! And so is she!!!! These are supposedly adults, dammit. At least she should be civil in an almost stranger's place, while he could be a bit assertive in his own house withouth being a quiet rebound rag she can walk all over - again). I can't go on with this (even in 2x speed, which did make it a bit better).
I might take a look at OUS, but... I'm one who dropped Our Beloved Summer two eps from the end because I just couldn't take it anymore LOL. If it's the same - supposedly slow and introspective but instead just... not, I also might not. Thanks for the rec!
PS Too bad about the OP song - it did give a flashback to the QoT OST. It does sound like it's the same band or at least the same songwriter but at this moment I can't be even bothered to check it out.
You have a point about story line, I agree. POJ is enchanting, very beautiful, the tension between two main characters…
They do have some original plots (for example, Fangs of Fortune was original IIRC) but novels are usually a safe option to adapt since they come with a fanbase that will certainly tune in to watch the drama.
Ep 31-32. confirmed my disappointment. They cut the battle between Marquis and little Psycho Sui. Wtffff I’m…
It makes sense, though. He's not on any faction's side - either Li or Wei - but on the actual Imperial line's legitimate heir. Qi Min IS the actual Imperial Grandson, so he would have better rights to the throne than the current Wei-backed puppet.
So in his mind, he wouldn't be betraying anyone but helping the legitimate heir to the throne to get back his rights.
even so, even after the show is completed - I think its best to mark posts with great detail as a spoiler. because…
Exactly. It's fun even so, but I've come across many dramas that had long since aired, and still had a good watch by not reading comments from the past. Whenever I watch a currently airing, the fun is much more when comparing theories and favourite scenes with people also watching.
The blocks were limited at least back in 2023 when I was looking at the limit and there was a talk about it in the support forums. I don't know if that changed, but I'm assuming it didn't. I'm at 28 people, a lot of them still active, and so I don't want to use up those blocks on people who are just enthusiastic about a drama they like and want to comment on (I'm supposing they're not evil intentioned LOL).
Honestly, there’s a lot of hypocrisy here 🙄. The episodes were leaked and have already been watched it’s…
Listen up. NOBODY cares you took the shortcut to watch them all. Have at it.
Just PLEASE use a spoiler tag. If you read up a few comments below, people are spoiling out in the open. That's uncouth. And if someone did finish it, it's NOT their right to come and spoil it for everyone else just because they can. It's called being civil.
Yesterday everybody was commenting on the officially aired eps and having fun, now we who chose not to watch the leaks have to scroll over as fast as we can not to see what happens to whomever before the episode airs. We're all the same people as yesterday. Spoiling it is making everybody who hasn't watched the leaks keep away from the comment section.
Why are there two guys playing Song Yan? I'm confused.
Song Yan's actor is now ML in a BL drama, they didn't want to have any scandal about it so they edited his face only with another actor's face. Nothing more dramatic than that. He (the actor) is not actually involved in any scandal. It's just the association with BL that was problematic due to the current censorship rules in the mainland.
Tae Seo: I never look back on things. Buddy, you never looked or moved forward. Everything's her. She: dumps another…
At first, I thought she was going to be one of those randomly quirky characters that one actually does fall for, and they're like fireflies to their smothering flame or something. But she's not a freaking firefly. HE is a moth to her, who's a dull one-watt lantern bulb.
He was a wet mop from the very beginning - I DO get it that some people have hero's syndrome and DO sacrifice everything for the family etc. But even when he's not with his family anymore, he's stuck in a moment in time, never even "looking back" (yeah, you're right, he never even left).
I really wanted to give it a chance, not in small part because I fell out with The Witch and wished to give JinYoung another chance. But it's just not for me. Maybe I'm too old now for idiotic one-and-only one-sided love stories. Or love stories between physically beautiful but un-souled people.
Oh well. Maybe he'll finally pick something that gives him an actual role to play and not just be a beautiful lachrymose statue.
Which means to say, everybody has their own tastes.
And how could Wei Xuan think the PM actually likes Xie Zheng LOL? That "what, does Xie Zheng want to become another Wei Yan now" was so chilly. That man is already planning how to get rid of our matrilocal husband.

And did Xie Zheng tutor ChangYu on how to act in the court? 'Cause it sure looked like she took lessons from "someone".
That being said, they're been a sad assh@le as usual. Don't mind it.
AMAZE!! AMAZE!! AMAZE!!! *jazz hands*

In that fanfic, they should make him die a long painful death and then bring him back and kill him again.
I almost wanted to be sorry for S-t-Y, BUT!!! He brought the bandits to Lin'an. All the pretty girls giggling for Yan Zheng's braised meat ONLY are now dead because of him. He should've suffered more.
