That drama was a mess anyway due to the plot and (non)progression of characters, but the FL was also the most wooden actress I've ever watched - no expression, no emoting at all, completely flat. People justified it by her being ill at the period of the filming... but it went on and on throughout all the series.

I was negatively impressed. I really don't want to watch that kind of ~acting again, especially on a drama that has a good backstory and shouldn't be a bad surprise.

No sex or anything too corny. But strong - STRONG - bromance. Of a kind of weird vibe (not really BL, but it's so subtle that the ship will have rounded the Earth about three times before you realise that it COULD work between them LOL). Also take note this is dystopia - some things will be very disturbing.

The shippers are crazy :D

There is NOBODY ELSE but Lan WangJi/ Lan Zhan for WWX, and never can be. But don't worry, WWX is pretty dumb when it comes to love, LOL. LWJ has to suffer in silence for most of the novel, too.

So - heads up. 1-2 and 33-50 covers the present time, after WWX is resurrected (it's the story of who, why, when, and how he was resurrected.) Eps 3-33 cover the past timeline - why WWX, from a very promising and carefree young lord became the pariah of all the cultivation world and how he managed to get himself killed. (He got better).

Don't jump the past timeline, it's amazing (I like it better than the present, though the present comes really close). The past first few eps are about the first meeting(s) between Lan WangJi and Wei WuXian (they weren't instant friends but LWJ's older brother had his radar on immediately and ships them hahaha~). Around 15-16 it takes a dark turn and then it takes a VERY dark turn until it concludes around 33. After that, WWX returns and is being his usual carefree self, teasing poor suffering LWJ and creating chaos because that's what he is.

PS I forgot to mention - his childhood name being used by people who are NOT family is insulting LOL. So WWX calling Lan Zhan by his name all the time is NOT allowed and it p!sses him off a lot... well, in the beginning. LWJ is very tsundere :D

PPS Keep track of Jiang Cheng's eyerolls. He's the master of eye rolling, most of it caused by WWX's antics.

WWX is adopted into the Jiang Clan, so he is not biologically Jin Ling's uncle. But he WAS adopted, and adoption is important in such stories, he can't escape it, the brat is his business now LOL.

And yes, that means Jiang Cheng is not his brother by blood, nor Jiang YanLi his sister by blood, but they grew up together and Jiang FengMian, JC's dad, treated him even better than he treated his own son, this leading to a lot of problems in that family, as you'll see.

Basically, the whole drama is about Jin Ling's uncles and their problems, LOL - bio uncles, adopted uncles, uncles by marriage and uncles by blood pacts hahaha~

The novel is one of the best danmei (Chinese BL) novels out there (and no censorship, and it's already been translated officially into English :D)

...Sh!t. I just went back to check the FL's other dramas, and she's the mother in Namib.

I SO wanted to watch this but now I seriously doubt it, even if Jang Dong Yoon is in it and the source is solid. :(

Anyway, there are three names for each character: 1. Clan/Family Name (if they are in a clan - for example, LAN Clan, WEN Clan, JIANG Clan etc. or else, clanless names - like Wei or Meng), 2. a courtesy name (they get that in adulthood, it's the "official" name that everybody being polite would call them by - for example, (Lan) WangJi, (Wei) WuXian, (Jiang) Cheng etc). And then there's 3. their childhood, or family name, who only family or really close friends would call them by. Or lovers, LOL. For example (Lan) Zhan, (Wei) Ying, (Jiang) WanYin etc.

And then there are the TITLES hahaha~ If you're watching a version with subs that TL the title, they're amazing, if not, you're probably only seeing the actual titles being written phonetically or something and have no clue they can be translated.

So - Lan WangJi's title is Hanguang Jun, or Light-Bearing Lord, his brother's name is ZeWu Jun - Brilliance Overgrowth Lord, Mme Yu (Jiang Cheng's mother )'s title is Violet Spider (Zi ZhiZhu), Jiang Cheng's title is SanDu ShengShou or Three-Bane Master (SanDu is his sword), Nie MingJue's title is Chifeng-Zun or Red Blade Master and so on and so forth. (Nie MingJue is Nie HuaiSang's older brother, the guy with the really big sword LOL).

And that reminds me, the swords or flutes ALSO have names, because they're all spiritual weapons and people name them.

Wei WuXian is a hoot, so he named his sword "Whatever" (Suibian) because the sword didn't care for the previous trial names, LOL. His flute (horizontal flute, a dizi), is called ChenQing.
Lan WangJi's sword is Bichen (Avoid Dust) and his guqin is Wangji ( - or Free of Wordly Concerns - yes it sounds like his name, but it's written different LOL).

We Won't Be Falling Down (from Guardian) is one of the best OSTs in a cdrama, and made me fall for it (though I haven't even watched the drama itself LOL). But he also wrote the complete Three-Body OST and The Day of Unknown in that OST is absolutely stunning. I absolutely recc' the whole OST, the instrumentals are even better.

Not really, in the first two eps. But there is still time.

Wow, when the ED theme came up, it sounded SO MUCH like Sleepless Beauty I almost expected it to grow into that song (it's not the same song, but the opening to SB is so alike, I loved it.)

So anyway, this feels more inspired by a manga or an anime than a novel and Naoki is almost L but on music not on detecting LOL (ETA And now after the beginning of the second ep, his stage play is SO like OOK's Taka's hahaha), but I liked the first ep. And anything that reminds me of the Gravitation OST is a win.

(PS I didn't even recognize Machida Keita LOL).

I don't get it though - are they both remembering their past lives and Armin is now having foresight or something to dream about being attacked...?

PS Though, makeup and effects crew, pay attention LOL, Armin was shot in the chest and had surgery not so long ago, try to remember to give him a hero's scar or something - I mean... did they have perfect plastic surgery for scars back in the 2000s LOL?

That was a long ep and all I'm taking from it is Janine looking just a tiny bit clueless then deciding "I want to see" LOL. And then offering to Weynai to "take him". I say yes to both LOL.

They were sent to the address - his mother had her name on the rental because he couldn't get one, given his record. But they did send it to the address only he was living at.

Because he's not in it for the justice-for-all as he says, he's in it for the chaos. He wants to make a chaotic world before he goes.

And he did it before too - remember Lee Do's story of the blue-eyed Asian who made a village go mad?
