I think XBM is going to survive. The best stories always grind down the protagonist and then have him rise up again.

I'm so invested in Xiao Beiming now. And I'm liking the group dynamics. Going to have to binge-watch the whole show all over again once it's complete.

Unless they speed up the timeline, he's not dying before the end.

After years of binge-watching complete shows on Netflix, c-drama is teaching me patience. Sigh.

It's not at all bad. People who are watching it are enjoying it. The ratings are troll-induced fits of annoyance that this isn't a romance with a "better looking" FL (in quotes because that's not my opinion).

Loving it. It's right up my alley, with a tragic hero and loyal, funny friends. And Beiming is a frickin' genius. The things he notices...

Yup. And my question remains. Why is this attracting so many? What cardinal sin have the team at The Wanted Detective committed that so many people would come to this page, have crazy arguments with normal viewers, and even make the effort to downvote each individual episode of the drama???

The negative comments are all about comparing it to the previous show or hating the FL. There's a large number of comments on how good the show is. It's clearly driving discussion on the plot. YOU may find it unengaging, but there's no need to force others to feel the same.

Also, it's top 2 or top 3 and still has the bulk of the show yet to air.

Also, someone in the comments said that being among the TOP 5 shows is equivalent to flopping?

Why does this show have so many trolls? Or is this normal for c-dramas? So many people who want to come here and tell us how bad everything about this show is.

Female fans expected romance, were pissed when it didn't meet their standards, so... read some of the reviews. One reviewer even said they've watched all (UNAIRED) 36 episodes.

Hopefully, after it's played out, iQIYI will license it to Netflix or Viki.

I'm almost sure it's also because they don't like XBM's redemption arc. They want a fairy tale romance with a perfect hero. Whereas WXY has stepped out of the stereotyped hero and played a broken character who will rise from the ashes. If this was a Hollywood movie, everyone would have loved it.

Hahahah! So true. A poster on Xiaohongshu has numerous commenters saying just this. They hate the actor playing the FL, and there's no 'CP' (couple?) vibe between them, so they can't get into the show. I'm rolling my eyes so hard on this.

The more I watch, the more I realize how layered and subtle and interconnected everything is. Going to have to watch it again carefully. Hampered by having to read subtitles at the same time.

Someone also pointed out that numerous female fans flocked to this because of WXY and lost interest right away when the ML wasn't an all-powerful duke and the FL wasn't "pretty enough" (by whatever weird standards). It will pick up when boys show up to watch. If that is true, how sad.
