Title Shine on Me Spoiler
why do i feel like i will be disappointed after watching this, or when i start it? is not worth time? i am not…
I'm only up to e15-ish, but if you want strong jealousy this is really not it so far. Don't expect 3 way handgrabs, only face slaps. FL is basically recovering from her past love & ML is taking very calculated slow advantage.

Cdramas can not really be emotional roller coasters anymore due to censorship, that applies to this one too. However…
Here is another: If a kdrama character drives without a driver's license, they'll either crash the car or be caught by the police.

As for why I think kdrama self censorship is often worse is because cdramas are always preproduced & the writers often try to work within the limitations of the system, the idea space may be more limited but they at least try. (well ok, they do the school chase in every second drama, but other than that)
Kdramas with live filming seemingly walk into these problematic topics way more often & then the predictable & forced outcomes pile up in the final episodes ruining the entire show.

For example I really like the cdrama First Frost. If that were a kdrama, the writers would have certainly spent a few flashbacks highlighting the mom's struggles & then somehow force a mini reconciliation & I cannot put it into words how much I would've hated that.

Thank you! You saved me from even trying watching this one!
1. Yes. (the final episode is great fluff)
2. Surprisingly it's above average.
3. Not sure it's been a long time probably not great & ML's acting is really bad.
4. Don't remember.

>Ofc I don't know what Koreans censor, but I would be surprised if it were even worse.

For example in Korean dramas toxic parent characters are almost never completely abandoned. While there a few rare exceptions, whenever a drama has a toxic parent character you are expected to see some form of a redemption ark for them in the final episodes, or at the least the children making an effort to resolve past conflicts up to the ending credits. There are many similar examples of self censorship, like if you saw Genie Make a Wish you'll notice that easily gotten money is abandoned freely 3 times in the show.
Or we could talk about how if a drama is about heists, the cool thieves will never get away with it & there is also this related trend where people that have done something criminal in their past will certainly atone for their sins in prison. Like even if they've only harmed their husband who forgave them, still go to prison willingly & I'll wait for you with our kid when you are out.
One last example, if someone without a college / university degree becomes successful, the drama writer is almost guaranteed to send them back to college in the final episodes, even if it doesn't make ANY sense whatsoever.

It's bad, but it's not like Hollywood is so hot these days & if we look at Korean dramas they have their own issues. There is no direct censorship in Korea, but their unique society puts very strong constraints on what can be shown as well & in my mind that is often worse, especially considering that most of their dramas are filmed live, so high quality writing is incredibly rare to begin with.

So what are we suppose to watch, French television? :D

Censorship is complicated, not well defined & often takes a long time, we are talking about years. LGBTQ is a negligible part of all that. There is lots of things, this is why Chinese dramas & actors during most of their scenes are almost always super chill. This is why if a drama character goes to a foreign country they won't be allowed to like the local food. This is why if the drama characters sneak into their former high school at night, then the guard(s) will chase them at the end of their escapade, even small law breaking must have at least minor consequences. This is also why many Chinese dramas have strange dialog inserts here and there, meaning that after the drama's finished filming the censoring body adds a few new sentences here & there and then they dub it over something else, so the lip movement doesn't line up at all.

When does she start to feel interested in him guys?
Clearly romantic interest does not yet happen by ep8 where I'm at, but she seems to be getting interested in figuring him out as a person.

For a 36 ep long CDrama and a synopsis of a romance only plot, I am not sure I can start this? slow burn means…
Cdramas can not really be emotional roller coasters anymore due to censorship, that applies to this one too. However the workspace slice of life & the workspace dynamic between FL & her boss is not bad in this one. I watched it up to E8 & I can assure you that a lot more things happen here than in Snowstorm of Love in that time frame, this is not just a vibe drama, well as of e8 anyway.

Douban ratings of Gu Man’s 5 works#BossAndMe - 7.7#MySunshine - 7.5#ShineOnMe - 7.4#LoveO2O - 7.2#YouAreMyGlory…
I find it kind of funny that -having not seen MySunshine & barely having started Shine- I find the lowest rated `You are My Glory` the best and `Boss and Me` the worst on this list.
My problem with BnM is that a strong first half is followed by an annoying semi makjangish second half.

Much of the workplace scenario didn't seem reasonable. Agreed that stella's dad owning company shares and still…
So basically the censorship here is just cutting mildly graphic scenes short?

I don't understand the context of the inner demon that Lin Yusen is referring to. Is it some kind of obsession?…
It's the mental -and sometimes more- manifestation of an obsession. It makes little sense outside of cultivation novels.

Genius. He skipped some grades. There were some genius who graduated university at 17-18.
No, but you can start it much earlier than others. It's the kind of thing that happens once every couple of years in a country the size of China. So it's unrealistic, but not without precedent.

Even though i enjoyed most of it the flashback scenes mostly did nothing for me since we knew exactly how it ended…
I'm not very happy about the flashback timeline either, but knowing the ending has not really been a big issue for me.
