It was manipulative as if to serve as a reminder of "remember where WE came from and remember WE are one. WE promised to be together forever". He wasn't going to ever let her forget that. Like she was moving on and slowly healing then he would randomly bring it up.

Yes this season didnt live up to the expectations but I'm giving praises and credit to the team and cast for their hardwork. OST and acting on par.
Ah Nian had the most growth. XL stayed consistent and was probably the best written and thoughtout character . XY and Jing's characters went downhill and CX didn't need that redemption arc. Needed him to stay that bad guy that he is.
All in all, besides the changes, it is a happy for those who deserved it (except Fenglong). I knew my heart was going to be torn apart but not like this. Im jus4 glad i finally got closure and can move. This novel and drama will stay with me for a long time. It's been fun!!

I just got done rereading the hard copies. Went through all three volumes in two days LOL for me, it was a reminder of how I was able to consume the novel in two weeks.
While it's still fresh in my mind, I will say it didn't get good GOOD till Jincheng Lake which is after the bride arc ... so almost towards the end of volume one haha.
This is why i couldn't watch one of Cheng Yi's drama cause the FML played the mom of his love interest in another drama. I cant just and plus she just looks way too mature for his face .
I dont mind older female + younger male but if the male looks like a boy, i can't. If the role says older female love interest is younger guy, I'll gladly watch. BUT she can't be infantile

It was most definitely the directing and writing. His acting and character in S1 was very well written and consistent.
