Thank you so much for explaining. This is indeed some dark stuff. Now that I think of it, it’s not strange that the emperor wants to die. He seems depressed all the time. But do you think that he meant to be cruel too or was in just unintentional. It felt while watching the drama that he meant to be cruel and cause harm to the ml.

Can you elaborate more about the dark stuff that happened in the novel? Was it between the 2 male leads? What did it has to do with the female lead? I’m a bit confused about it as it seams that the most important characters in the drama are the 2 male leads. It’s kinda they have more intense stuff going on rather than it’s with the FL. Also, why did the emperor marry the fl if he is in love with her dead wife?

Can you please spoil it? It’s ok for me as i usually skip some stuff due to length of Chinese dramas.

I’m confused to why does the emperor never get really hurt when he should be and it’s the master that get poisoned and blood in the place of the emperor. Is there an explanation for that. It already happned twice in 3 episodes.

Many epic Chinese dramas have a sad ending. It’s their signature for many historical dramas examples are goodbye my princess, one and only and many others. The ending could go either way really.

It’s actually not common in most parts of the world. It’s only common in the western countries. Many cultures looks down on people who participate in one night stand and most guys don’t want to be with women who do that. This is not my opinion by the way, it is how things are in most places.

Yes I just watched episode 14 and it’s a frustrating episode. but I really hope that mina is rescued and don’t die. The poor woman deserves a break and to live and enjoy her money after all the stuff she had to go through.

The sister in law is really crazy psycho. I m not sure of it but I think she even killed her brother to get rid of him.

When I first started watching the drama I thought yeon joo will be my favorite character as I’m all for strong fl. But I find myself liking yoo jun a lot more. I already saw that he loved the FL since the start. But when we discovered more about him, he is one of those most faithful people who r ready to do anything for the person they love. The fact that he discredited his love for yeon joo as a habit shows how much he has put into it. He never wavered with his love for her all those years. The poor guy. I already feel so bad and sad for him. I wish he had a chance. But seeing how the drama is progressing, I don’t see it. His character is indeed my favorite.

At the started I really disliked seong woon but the more I think about him, the more I feel somehow bad for him. He was never allowed to do anything even his marriage was decided for him. He found himself suddenly married to a woman he didn’t even like or care for. Moreover, his family seems like power hungry monsters. They are really ready to do anything for their goals and he might be harmed if he stood against that. Even his scandals were made by his sister/ family. I’m not saying he is a great guy or anything. But being raised in such environment is extremely toxic.

The last 4 episodes were quite disappointing compared to how strong the drama started. Yeon joo was just a acting so reckless to the point of stupidity. For example, calling the head prosecutor and tipping him of, running around not paying attention if someone following her etc… the way they acted after the guy was killed in prison was very annoying. They should have been aware that the enemy can do anything including killing a guy inside a prison. But they keep doing reckless stuff.

So happy for him. He is doing great in one the woman. He plays my favorite character of that drama.

Being disappointed with a a drama never means it’s written badly. Rookie historian technically and from a writing point of view is a very well writer drama. It was concise to the storyline and had the necessary elements of storytelling such a character and character development, plot, climax etc. You can be disappointed with a drama that is written in a good way. For me, an example of that in jealousy incarnate. Good acting and good story but I was very disappointed with it.
Rookie historian as a story is well written unlike this drama. The writing of this drama is very messed up and all over the place with no plot, no character development nor a climax. The bad writing is not the only problem though. The lack of chemistry between the leads is also very obvious here. Sometimes, a drama can lack much elements yet succeed because of good chemistry between the leads and an example of that is what’s wrong with secretary kim.
