Can someone sum up what happened in the movie because I watched it and still don't get it?
A woman named Cotton is having an affair with her ex-husband. She decides to take on a job as a full-time caretaker for a 70 year old man who suffering from Alzheimer's. The old man also had two women - I'm assuming the situation was similar to the situation Cotton has with her ex-husband. Cotton's boss is the old man's daughter, & she is the daughter of the old man's second woman. Apparently he was going to marry the second woman when she was pregnant with the daughter, but something happened & he never did, so his mind keeps on returning to that time. I guess Cotton's name is similar, and maybe in features she might also look similar, to the daughter's mother Caitlin - so the old man keeps on mistaking her for the mother / second woman. The old man's daughter resents the old man because he never married his mom or was there for her, I guess he was instead married to the first woman & had a son with her but neither of them are around to take care of him. Cotton finds out that she is pregnant with her ex-husband's child - the guy she's been having an affair with. Apparently they got divorced b/c she couldn't have children, but now he's not interested & wants her to abort. The old man is witnessing all of this, and I guess her pregnancy reminds him of how his daughter's mom was pregnant in the past. The daughter gets confused & thinks it's the old man's baby & also wants her to abort. The daughter ends up firing her & Cotton eventually writes her a letter telling her the truth & asks if she can have her job back. When she gets her job as her job back the old man remembers how the daughter's mom was pregnant with the daughter so that night he tells her not to worry because he will make all the arrangements to be able to marry her. This touches Cotton's heart because she's been wanting to have children, but everyone has been telling her to abort the child. Even the doctor told her to abort the child because it didn't seem like the child will be healthy. The old man's condition worsens & they find out he's going to die soon, so as a way to give him closure for his biggest regret the daughter decides to help Cotton dress up in Chinese wedding attire. This is so that the father can think that he did get married to the daughter's mom Caitlin in the end. They hold a funeral for him & the film shows a passage of time where Cotton is raising the baby alone and I assume finds the dog that the old man's daughter said went missing. Cotton takes the baby to her hometown & shows the baby the cotton field around where she grew up. I guess she is going to raise the baby in her hometown for the time being & that's how the movie ends.
I assume she was rescued along with the little girl. There was a scene where the guards came and said they were…
Ah I assume that she probably cooperated with Hyun Bin / King Jeonjo since she was crying so hard. He said he would let it go, she was probably scared for her life & her family's life.
Yes, I'm so excited to watch this!! I watched The Village, Save Me, and the movie Priests and I enjoyed them. I can't wait to watch OCN's new drama Priest either after The Guest.
The singer of this particular track is Song Ha Ye, but this seems to by a side profile picture of the female lead…
I know right? Haha. Lee Yo Won looks a lot cuter and prettier when she laughs but we don't get to see it as often when she does so many charismatic roles.
Did they perhaps run out funding and that's why they had to roll the credits at episode four? It seemed like the plot would have been interesting. I wanted them to explain more about Joseon cooking methods though.
I loved the comradery and frienemy relationship between Eugene, Dong Mae, and Hui Seong. Also loved all the strong female leads, including but not limited to, Go Ae Shin and Lee Yang Hwa. I also really appreciated the high-budget, cinematography, costumes, subtle yet important banter between characters, and set designs. The drama felt like I was watching a Korean, Japanese, and American drama all in one.
Too many question marks surrounding Soo Ho. The law firm didn't get any sort of backlash besides the father going to prison when really the son was more devious than the father. I'm so confused though. The most devious of all - Lee Ho Sung & rapist chaebol didn't receive any sort of punishment?? I know there might not have been enough time for the drama to resolve the sister's rape case, but its hard to believe one of the main antagonists of the series - Lee Ho Sung was completely left hanging without any comeuppance. Was there a news broadcast I missed somewhere?
