Wow this is the first time I’ve followed a drama on MDL and see the rating increase as it airs, from 8.3 to 8.8 now.

That is not true, the opening rating on Douban was 6.4 which is probably the average, not high.

Lol if you check the dates the reviews were made, you can see many of them were done even before half the episodes aired, that’s one problem with MDL ratings.

Everyone has the right to express their opinions, whether it’s in favour of or against the drama, I think that’s the beauty of the comment section.

I’m struggling to finish this. The mom had like two good moments out of a hundred in her decisions from start to finish. The melodrama in comparison to the fun moments are way too much, a lot of it is unnecessary and annoying to watch. If the writers could have found a better balance the drama would’ve been more enjoyable.

People complaining about negative comments but they seem to ignore the fact that the drama brings a lot of negative emotions.

I think this drama is trying to win in “the most annoying characters you can have” category.

Agreed! The show portrays a lot of her actions as “in the name of love” and it may be, but that doesn’t make some of her actions justifiable or acceptable to those who have to endure the consequences of her actions.

Actually plenty of sites you will see similar complaints about the mom like on MDL. I just don’t want people to get the wrong idea that Asia is tolerant of this kind of mom. Sure, they may exist but doesn’t mean they don’t rile up the audience just like on MDL.

I’ve seen a lot of comments like this, that the father is to blame as well for the mothers actions. I can see why they say it but don’t agree. In my eyes, the mother is an adult and should be held accountable for her own actions. She is old enough and perfectly capable of making her own decisions and it is not up to those around her to tell her what she should or should not be doing.

I said the exact same thing previously. Not sure if it’s the age which you will see most families use “ma”, or if it’s the way the FL says it with almost like a whisper at the end that it seems so unnatural.

I don’t feel pity for them, I pity myself for continuing to watch just because of the leads, meanwhile getting riled up by the mother and bored of the 2nd couple lol.

If it weren’t for the leads acting and chemistry it would really be difficult to continue with this drama.

With episode 22, I think it actually does deserve this low rating. MCH mother is not just about the stereotypical older generation mothers anymore, she is just greedy and shamelessly selfish as an individual, period. And some of the lines and characters are so cringe here - the hotel employee making those snide remarks and how everything got resolved so easily after being set up with the food poisoning - too dramatised and hunky dory. I feel the quality really dropped from here.
