No I wouldn’t call it similar, this one is more political than the other two BUT I think nothing can compare to Nirvana in Fire, it’s such a must watch. The plot, acting, scenery, values and relationships are unmatched. And NiF isn’t a genre I usually like watching. P.S. I also loved the long ballad, Asilesun is one of my favorite characters.

Wow I wouldn’t rate this drama high but I never expected the ratings to be so low (3-5?), since I’m watching it for a second time haha

It’s quite funny how people on here get so worked up about this drama when you say anything that’s not in its favor. I also mentioned this point about how the drama so far is just not unique and done several times before in recent years (think fairy and devil, eternal love, three pillows) and people get upset. It doesn’t have to be unique to watch, but I would also definitely dock points for it’s similarities.

I’m still watching the drama hence I’m here haha, doesn’t have to be unique to watch it, otherwise romantic comedies won’t have a premise lol

I think it’s different for everyone, depending on how many and types of dramas and the order they’ve watched it in that has a heavy influence on their perspective. I’ve watched ashes of love, eternal love, three pillows and a bit of fairy and devil before this and I just find it basically the same formula with less sassy and interesting dialogues and subplots. Dream arc and tragic MY and SJ, done in three pillows. Demon lead with no emotions, done in fairy and devil. Different love lives of same people in different realms, done in eternal love. As for the unique points you mentioned, these have been done before in other dramas: transmigrates (the untamed), mission till the end (Chinese paladin), no cringe moments - depends how you define cringe, fast paced - depends how you define fast paced, anti-hero - many xianxia have this label to it so can’t really say it’s unique. I’ve watched many other dramas where I thought this is fresh - journey of flower (interesting how she has a scent that attracts demons and can wilt flowers from young), eternal love (subplots are creative and sassy), love and redemption (girl who’s previous life was a warrior in heaven), and many more. But they may not be unique to someone else who has seen this before already. Why this particular drama isn’t unique to many is because there were quite a few very popular dramas before it that have the same things I mentioned previously.

Its all the intricacies we’ve seen before that make it cliche for me. Tragic love story, naive FL, noble and demonic ML, world will end due to one demon having so much power, lead who doesn’t know emotions, multiple understandings leading to tragedy, different lives in different realms, I could go on. It’s basically a formulaic xianxia story, seriously haven’t seen anything unique so far where I’m like, oh that’s fresh. I mean all the points I’ve listed there, I could name a xianxia drama for each of them that I’ve seen it in.
