I’m really enjoying this series. I’m always interested to see how they adapt novels/web series etc into tv…
Generally Chinese shows don't have seasons and that's the way I like it, every story needs to end! If they gonna have seasons I wish they would just film it all once off.
I also prefer historical dramas in general, if I'm watching a modern drama it's because I have nothing else to watch and waiting for the next good historical drama.
I saw some snippets of this and I was planning to watch it for the 2 MLs but, after reading the latest comments,…
I think if you are a fan of the actors you can give it a go. If not, I don't think it's a huge loss to skip it. There's humor and there's emotional moments but I find the writing and characterization inconsistent and it just pisses me off. It's also less about the military and more about all the love relationships in a military setting.
Please could you elaborate more on why you want to drop it? This drama is one of the best I find that is out so…
Lol ok I see, thanks for the insight! So basically for the most part not romance enough to be romance, and not wuxia enough to be wuxia.
I personally really enjoy the humor and out of norm relationships (like the father and son relationship), it's just so refreshing, especially when you watch a ton of other dramas that just have the same old same old!
I am on ep 5 and find this drama strange unfortunately I will stop here just cannot get into it, none of the characters…
Please could you elaborate more on why you want to drop it? This drama is one of the best I find that is out so far of 2021, so it's interesting to know why others don't like it.
This show is so annoying. Something about it makes me keep watching but I have such a problem with some of the writing / plot lines!!! Whoever this writer is, I never want to watch their works again after this! And the drama is really less about the military and war and more about romance in a military setting really.
I started watching this because of Julian Cheung only, this definitely is not the type of series I would watch, too soap opera for me. But to my surprise I am actually into this story!
This drama natural flow in story telling. Its very hard to do it. Teresa lee acting is good. 33.14 her smile.…
I agree. I don't feel the story is forced, unlike some of the latest shows I've been watching. People really shouldn't be allowed to rate shows when it hasn't finished airing!
While the last four episodes got me bawling and bringing up all kinds of emotions at the same time, some of the writing / plot lines really irks me. Like the cinema scene, while I know they are trying to show the ignorance of the citizens of what's happening in the country and the sacrifices of the soldiers for them, I think it could have been instigated by a better encounter. Someone jumping up in the middle of a movie to start a fight because he saw a girl crying holding a box behind him in a dark cinema, not so convincing to me. Another thing that annoys me is they are always making the plot to be GYY in the dark and not knowing what's going and GL being all sacrificing (e.g. with the chance to go to school part and the poem part), almost like they are trying to force show the sacrificing characteristic of GL. And don't get me started on the division commander and his nepotism!
These characters are all so interesting. The story with Xuan Yuan Jing Cheng makes me feel so sad. His life was so lonely, no one understood him or stood by his side, not his wife, daughter or brothers. They only know to berate and look down on him. In the end, he still sacrificed his life for the sake of his wife and daughter, even though they didn't treat him well.
do you guys prefer luoyang or this? what is your favorite chinese drama of 2021, or upcoming drama for 2022?
Luoyang was definitely not for me, I see many people comparing it but I just don't think it's on the same level of execution. Luoyang could have been great but in my opinion whoever directed or wrote the romance in it needs to refine their art. On the other hand, I really enjoy this show, it keeps me wanting more and definitely one of the better ones of 2021.
