Off the top of my head in LYF: She was tortured by her cousin with those bugs - that still disturbs me Beaten and mouth stuffed when she was in the palace Thrown into the ocean from high altitude Blood sucked out of her
That’s tough. Here’s a few with strong female but not the same:1. A journey to love - focus is in the journey…
I still revisit Journey To “heaven” ‘s discussion thread every so ofte. Still loving it regardless of the crash ending.
My fav genre is a GOOD well told story. Hahaha..
By the way, maybe check out Flourishing Peony since it has a strong Fl. However, it’s gonna be a bit angsty like the other Yang Zi costume drama (Lost You Forever).
Man, oh man, 2ML... you shady dude. When ML asked him point blank if anything else was suspect and he went 'nope'…
My jaw dropped too! I think he made a comment in his convo with his subordinate earlier when he realized what she had. But had this look like maybe he doesn’t want to reveal it since the relationship would become a dead end anyways. At this point, I feel that he’s kinda devoid of emotions and is trying to figure out what he’s experiencing. And is starting to show some dark traits.
Ending of ep 3 - Are we trying to draw an analogy to the peony plant’s strength, emerging strong after enduring harsh conditions (cold winters)? Feels so abrupt.
I too loved Blossom. I’ve checked out Dafeng, Moonlight, life is a choice, and this one. I’d say I’ve found…
Ok, I just checked out 3 eps of flourishing peony. It feels like it’s going to be angsty. If I were to rank my taste: peony>blossoming>moonlight/dafeng. Well maybe moonlight is slight better than dafeng. I dunno, the princess in dafeng is dragging the drama down.
Wow - miles Wei is doing such a fine job as LC, her husband.
I also love the beautiful peony themed dishes served at the banquet. So many exquisite details for the eye’s feast.
A note on peonies from a peony lover (me):
- firstly, I can totally relate to the scene where she rushed out to save her peony plants from the rain! I have many à times gone out in the middle of the night in the rain to care for my peonies. The flowers are gorgeous but get destroyed by too much rain. The water weights down the flowers and too much rain will cause cause them to go bad too soon.
- peonies do not like to be moved during blooming season. There’s no way to have saved them after such a traumatic move. Not only will the flowers not recover but the branches would have withered and no more blooms until the next year.
Historians generally regard the Tang as a high point in Chinese civilisation, and a golden age of cosmopolitan culture.
