This episode starts out with the bf interested in purchasing balloons from a street vendor. The narrator continues into a detailed explanation on the involved process of making balloons. Plot wise, we see a turning point for our fl she she gets sick and cannot attend an important meeting at work. The true colors and aspirations of her boss is revealed. Her bar friends express their love for her by coming over and “taking” care of her. It’s pretty humorous. There are some heartfelt moments between her and the ml as he cares for her. When she returns to work, she is told that she will need to meet with the chairman and answer his questions from the meeting while she was sick. While researching the answers, she finds a better idea than her original and want to update her plan. Her boss says no because she she’s fearful it wouldn’t be received well. She not interested in success of the project, only approval from the chairman. At the meeting, the fl must decide. Episode ends with her having dinner with her bar friends at her place. Her BF, who thinks she might me still interested in him, comes over with the balloons we see at the beginning. As he tries to reach her by phone, he sees the ML and mistook him to be her new bf. He decides to release the balloons and leave. She comes to the window to see what the ML is looking at, he points to the balloons - ‘a guy released it’, a ‘a confession of love’. Everyone looks at the balloons as it floats away.
I feel like I need to rewatch this ep to understand better the message behind these balloons. May have missed a lot with the translation. However, it’s still another very well done episode. Here’s to hoping her future will be looking up like the rising balloons.
Can I also add that I love the interactions of her bar friends. They are filled with comedy. The scriptwriting so so good.
The episode starts with a discussion on causes of elevated heart rates as the bf and ml are in a fight. The ml brushes it off as no big deal when everyone else is concerned about his injuries at the bar - it’s just a jealous ex of one of my ex’s. Fl continues to deal with awkward moments and discovers it at the work place as well. She’s facing frustrations at work as Ma tries to undermine the team’s efforts and talent. All the while she’s taking notes of potential comedic material from work to help with her standup comedy. Ep ends with ml’s heart rate, usually always calm, shooting up as he comes to a realization.
Smartly written. Enjoyable story telling. I love how everything feels natural, realistic. Characters aren’t revealing how they feel by saying it out loud but rather by their actions, their facial expressions, they’re interaction with others.
Episode 8 is bringing the smiles. So much happened that is good in this episode! This series is now my favorite…
Yes - such a well written, well, acted, well directed drama so far. Glad to switch over to a modern drama from Eastern Fantasy (that was enjoyable too but a different enjoyment).
Ep 4/5/6 her bf drags her to his assistant’s wedding and stages a proposal to her in front of the chairman and the entire company. It put her in a tough spot and she musters a weak ’yes’ to save face for him. Later she returns to the hotel room where he’s at and manages to tell him that she wants to break up with him. Over the weekend she enjoys time with her bestie but when she returns to work, everyone is congratulating her. SHe realizes that her confident breakup scene was just in her head and that in fact she had barely spoke the words before vomiting all over him. He’s avoiding her and won’t return her calls but she manages to find him in the garage where he blames her for saying yes and asks her not to say anything until he gets a promotion. Unfortunately, the news is leaked and gossip spreads and he ends up not getting the promotion. She finally manages to confront him and tells him that they need To clear the misunderstandings by speaking publicly about their breakup at a company horror escape room activity. Turns out everyone overhears this.
I appreciate how we see her confidence and frustrations displayed yet she she continues to be a doormat because change does not come instantaneously for anyone, especially this deep engrained one that she’s in. There’s still that part of her that cares too much about others (beyond her responsibility) that she acquiesces to things that a normal person knows is not a good idea/not her responsibly/not under her control. Until she comes to the realization that she cannot save the day and that it’s ok for people to get hurt and learn to take care of themselves, she’ll probably repeat these mistakes.
At work we see her tendency creep back as her co-worker is getting bullied by the unscrupulous team leader. She feels sympathy for her and decides to join the team to help. Oh, dear….
Her bf sees her getting a bike ride from the ML to the bar. He gets jealous, thinking he’s seeing her, and engages in a fist fight after she’s . Fight ends and ML tells him that he d doesn’t date females who have BF. Reality hits the BF because the truth is they are broken up. This ends ep 6.
wait, is this like Smile Code lol when i read the synopsis " stand-up comedy bar" haha i think smile code xd
This is really much better than smile code. It’s also different. I couldn’t continue smile code even though I am a fan of the ml. Story felt cliche and formulaic, it was not so good. Too many things didn’t make sense because they focus on creating cute romantic scenes vs story development. So far, the storytelling of this drama is very good. I feel for the Fl - all the pent up pressure inside her. It is going to blow soon.
If you are watching it for romantic smooching between the main leads, they you may want to watch something else.…
aiya - the show has completed when you posted. I had no idea you loved the story. I interpreted the question as you trying to figure out what type of show it was. There's been so much discussion on how much kissing.
Saw this on Netflix and decided to give it a shot. I cried myself bucketfuls of tears watching this wonderful drama. She discovers the most tender love in a cut-throat unforgiving world. And we see this love (as well as other loves)stand up through all sorts of life challenges. Such a well worthy, heart wrenching, heart moving, heart touching, beautiful movie.
Anyone watching as it airs...have they kissed yet?
If you are watching it for romantic smooching between the main leads, they you may want to watch something else. They do express affection but not with kissing.
... and then we never see or hear about it again after all that tension and build up. It really annoys me that…
Yes, they did not have full closure with that arc. They barely had enough time to wrap up the entire swirlies. I wonder why they edited down to 32 ép instead of using the full 40. Maybe they wanted to focus on the main end of earth catastrophe.
