I thought I didn't have to watch JOL again since I finished the OG just last year and watched it twice! However, now that I'm watching the SE, I am seeing more details (expressions, reactions, heartfelt conversations, jokes) that I didn't catch the first two times around! Example - Uncle W's expressions that give away who is is. The Gundam reference. I guess I'll find even more if I watch it a 4th and 5th time. hahahaha...

JOL and FSM are two different genres. I am highly anticipating BOTH of them! If you want to appreciate it, it would be a good idea. From what I catch in the previews, it appears to pick up right where it left off 5 years ago. Also, they released a shortened special edition of JOL1 most likely to help previous watchers get a refresher before season 2 starts. I’ve watched JOL1 twice last year and am now watching the SE and I’m seeing things I forgot or didn’t catch the first two times around.
FOR NEW WATCHERS SPECIAL EDITION IS NOT A DIRECTOR'S CUT THAT USUALLY HAVE ADDITIONAL SCENES, INSTEAD ITS JUST…
Special edition cuts out most of the side stories and focuses on the plot line of the main character. Loses some essence of the original. But the beginning is better in the special edition. And special edition seems like it’s higher quality.
