Would need investment $$$ to do that. This is the director’s 2nd long length drama and the main leads probably do not have as large a fan base as YZ ( in the two dramas you mentioned). So perhaps that was part of the decision. All my guess though. It would have been nice to have more episodes to better tell the story. An ambitious undertaking to flesh out so many characters. I felt they had to capture the highlights due to the length limitation. Thus so many ppl complain about loose ends, etc. I don’t envy the folks who had to make the cuts.

I was just gonna say if all you want is romance, then you’re gonna miss a HUGE chunk of the drama b/c this drama is not just about the romance. politics is a big part of it and their romance is accentuated by the politics and war. It won’t be as impactful w/o understanding all the “other” stuff.

No need to be hesitant. No drama is perfect. So far this has been oveall consistently enjoyable for me. I don’t know what you’ve watched but for a historical drama, this is pretty good.
Don’t worry. He’s popular from that drama but it was a meh for me which shows fiffereent ppl have different tastes. Like, not everyone is enjoying this drama.
