Maybe you’ll enjoy another drama with sunshine and blue skies. It’s a good thing there’s so many dramas for different audiences out there. Another republican era drama Cheng lei was in that I enjoyed is Footprints Of Change(2025). It’s more female centric but has some romance and is encouraging. You can just watch the republican arc.

According to the cast list, the director may very well come from that era, Hong Kong TVB. Directed The return of the condor hero and internal affair w/ Andy lau.

I don’t think it’s supposed to be heart fluttering. That would be disturbing. Guy is obsessed and madly doing all in his power to control her but cannot sway her heart with any of his actions.

Yes he is and yes, I’m also enjoying the show. This does not equate to me condoning his action. Just like watching "the killing field" or "Schindler’s list" doesn’t means I condone murder.

This drama is atypical from other idol dramas and is making many ppl uncomfortable and upset. But I don’t think it’s glorifying his behavior, more like the opposite.

I do recall seeing the canary fly out of its cage in the intro. So, he will eventually release her.

At the beginning of the ep, he tells her he’ll tire of her after a year. At the end of the ep, he changes the terms of their contract to a lifetime. Can you imagine a lifetime of this torture? him yearning for her love and her yearning for freedom from his grip.

Ep 15 he is so done for.

I love the best thing. Overall, I’ve enjoyed most of her dramas. The Forbidden flower, catch up my prince, the hope.
