Just when I thought that Japanese movies couldn't be more unique and interesting, this movie hit me with an axe. The beginning may seem really stupid and absurd but don't let it spoil the fun and just enjoy the ride.

Another example of Cantonese dramas and their completely random titles. The original Cantonese title 'Bridge of Sighs' is perfect, so I have no idea why someone decided to name it 'The Gutter'.
Isamu has got to be one of the cutest kids I have seen in movies and dramas. The way he imitated his brother, and that little ' I love You' he said to everyone....too pure.
I loved Tian Kuo's parents. They were so adorable and supportive and wished the best for their son. The movie is perfect for a light and uplifting watch.
I had to convince myself throughout the movie that I was not watching a Disney Musical. What a unique way to present such a sad story. And that ending was so beautiful. It felt like an ode to Matsuko's life through the people she loved the most and the thing she loved the most-singing.
Keeping the story aside, can I just say that the camera-work here really impressed me. All those slow-mo shots, reversed sequences and especially that dark filter( which some may find annoying) were such a nice addition to enhance the heaviness and the dark atmosphere. As for the movie, if you like revenge plots and don't mind really twisted characters and actions, then go for it.
Honestly I don't want this. Even if the Korean remake does a wonderful job in adapting it, there is still no need for the adaptation as the original is already so famous in all the east and south-east Asian countries. It actually follows a much more complex and intricate timeline, which I still haven't seen in Korean time travel dramas. Even the songs are of great importance to the plot and they may get lost in the adaptation. Waiting till the cast is announced.
"Xiangxiang, you know what a war is? It is a disaster, for everyone. No one remains as a bystander in a war."
What a journey it was to see the Battle of Changsha through the eyes of the Hu family. The emotional swings this show gave me were unhealthy. I was laughing once, then feeling all giddy and happy, only to later be an ugly mess. The portrayal of the ill effects and pain of war on common people couldn't have been more real than this. Everyone do try this..
This article summed up so many of my thoughts. I suffer from NDD lol. Dropping dramas is something I can't do at all even if the drama is a pain. It's like finishing them at all costs even if they give me headaches. My thought process behind this is that I always think that the drama might get better in the next moment and then I feel like giving it more chances. So my friends are the skip buttons and the playback speed button. Sometimes if I hated the drama so much, I delete it from my lists( it helps me lol) Never know when I'll learn the art of dropping.

Appreciates the little things in life, cause after all that's what matters the most.

I don't even care about the genre of the show, just her name is enough to make me all excited.

It was just a joke haha
