I'm still pissed after seeing those leaks and utterly disappointed...I can't believe production thought it was…
IKR - I think all CX fans were looking forward to his character development/transformation. I mean all the episodes leading to this prepared for him to take action and walk that path. They also robbed us of all the iconic lines between CX and XY from the novel too. Apparently that scene where XY poisons them in the phoenix tree forest will not be up to par with what was said in the novel. SMH.
Xinyue's assassination attempts were more realistic (like she actually tried, with FL's help too) in the novel. But it had to be condensed and combined with Jing's assassination instead.
INTERESTING LOL - I did not keep up with how promotions (if any) took place last year. I wasn't even aware of how crazy the CP shipping and fan wars got. What happened during S1? Did YZ do any shipping promotion?
Wow that is fascinating…I am wondering who had a bigger say on the changes in the script and what was eventually…
Yesssss ugghhhh my poor CX. Gimme back the real CX! Lol I saw a leaked video of the “poison” scene between XY and CX and literally all the comments say the lines in the novel were more memorable. Sigh robbed of all my YaoXuan scenes. I don’t know if I’ll ever get over it. They could’ve utilized ZWY and YZ even more haha

AN also had that scene with her dad before the wedding (which was not in the novel, but a scene I liked). She will also narrate the ending which her dad did. I think it allowed for more screen time for her (not that I am complaining about seeing DLW, I love her) but I would ofc appreciate if they followed the novel a bit more faithfully. I think fans couldn't help compare AN and XY's individual scenes on Weibo because of that scene with XY's mom, which unfortunately couldn't be as epic due to it being last minute.
I think Jing fans are just upset that his character became more of a wallpaper - which I admit was the case. He had a lot of scenes scrapped, but so did XL. Some of the complaints are understandable. I think it's safe to say many of the main leads had the short end of the stick. But the success was definitely not due to one actor/character.
A post from “Star Dramachaser” on Facebook (pasting here with link) Star Dramachaser: “About the bullying…
Wow that is fascinating…I am wondering who had a bigger say on the changes in the script and what was eventually shown in the drama.
I have seen many Weibo posts comparing the scenes between XY and AN - some saying that the few number of flower petals XY got (which was supposed to represent her dad) was nothing compared to what AN got. I know that XY’s scene with her mom was a last minute addition (happy YZ fought for this scene but it could definitely have been edited a lot better). But many fans were unhappy about how they treated the female lead lol.
I will say that from the leaked script and what I’ve noticed in the drama, AN did get a lot more screentime than she did in the novel. Apparently she will be saying many of the lines from other characters in the novel. Not that it’s a bad thing but she wasn’t exactly one of the “mains” in the original. I didn’t know DLW and TJC were under the same agency. Perhaps it was partly to promote the actors too - which I have seen happen in other dramas.
As for TSJ, even though I'm technically a CX bias I will say that some of these complaints are valid because they did kinda do his character dirty. He definitely had more of a role in the novel, but felt like a sidepiece or afterthought in S2. But then again, XL had more of a role in the novel as well, I think it's safe to say several things were butchered in S2 lol
A fan of both TSJ and XL but a YaoXuan shipper here. I read somewhere that Tong Hua even confirmed herself that…
Ah ok I understand your point of view. You are right, XL was technically the one lost forever. It is wonderful to see everyone's interpretations - that's the beauty behind Tong Hua's writing in this book. Did you get a chance to read the novel in its entirety (I think you mentioned you hadn't had a chance to in another thread)?
The story does feel centred around XY, but we do see more of CX's POV in the latter half of the book. How I saw it while reading was that the was both of their journey (where their paths were together and then diverged), with TSJ and XL being part of that journey (the romantic aspect of XY's life and being characters that were part of CX's too).
Funny how some people believe that just because XY marries Jing the story has a happy ending. AhNian married CX,…
Yes I agree - not everyone's totally happy and that's sort of the tragic beauty behind the storyline. Funny how Hou won in the end with his son being the leader that he always wanted to be hahahaha.
Too bad Tushan Jing's heart too small..already taken by Xiao Yao... so wish u get the hard xiangliu soo...so perhaps…
I still find it weird that TSJ had that line ''my heart is too small'' --> that was XY's line in the novel LOL. If his heart was too small, he wouldn't have been caught in the middle with his Grandma and family responsibilities.
In the novel, the major plot line where CX was the one who organized TSJ's assassination resulting in a rift with XY (and all the events that followed) was changed to be just a dream sequence in the drama. The mastermind behind TSJ's assassination in the drama was changed from CX to Xinyue (his Empress). So they basically changed CX's character development by changing him from a morally grey character to a ''good guy''.
There were also a number of other changes that impacted the other leads in the drama as well.
Ahead of the finale, I just wanna say that I'm super grateful for this forum - had some very nice discussions with you all (in the threads and on this page) - the good, the bad, and the crazy. I will say that having this discussion forum has maintained some of my sanity (despite the crazy things that happened in S2). Thank you everyone for listening to my rants, for the validation, and for the fun discussions!
I will say S2 was not what I had anticipated (for obvious reasons), but I was able to keep up due to the wonderful actors and also you all.
I'm sure this page will blow up even more tomorrow, and I'm not sure how to feel (happy or sad that it will be over? I just really want to get over this and move on hahahah T______T, maybe after a few more RANTS and discussion sessions). Probably will reread the novel as well.
only TuShan Jing (the tycoon businessman) is the final victor in this game, he and his little puppy get XiaoYao…
Did the explicitly say how many years he had? I do remember them mentioning he was so heartbroken after the breakup and ill he might not live long, but figured XY already cured him?
Xinyue's assassination attempts were more realistic (like she actually tried, with FL's help too) in the novel. But it had to be condensed and combined with Jing's assassination instead.

I figured that if she didn’t treat him, he would only have 100 yrs to live
