It decreases the gravity of the story. CX kiling Jing was a big impact in the novel. It doesn't make sense for…
UGHHHHHH I’m glad I’m not the only one mad about this. Been upset about it ever since I learned about this change in the script. The actors already filmed the scene, so might as well make it real. Without it, there is no reason why XY would feel the need to leave at the end. The plot and character development (for all characters tbh) in S2 were destroyed

I'm preparing myself for some mental gymnastics where I live in an alternate universe and this leaked script is…
Yeah I think Xinyue planned to have them kill XY but I guess FFYY had other plans and Hou ended up targeting Jing (obviously). They combined Jing and XY’s assassination attempts but that was a bad idea because it made no sense. It was a weak script.

If Xinyue truly wanted to kill XY - she would’ve hired assassins like she did in the novel lol. And it would not be in the same occasion as Jing’s assassination. XY would be alone

HOW could they just change that whole murder plot mastermind? I wish that part had stuck. It was only brought…
Besides the number of important scenes that were omitted from the drama, this change was the most ridiculous one. I don’t know if it is due to censorship or a new regulation where they wanted to have a main lead with good morals, but we had dramas like Goodbye My Princess that came out not too long ago. They totally killed off the CX we were supposed to get. There is a reason why CX lost XY forever, so changing this aspect changes the whole theme and main idea.

If it weren’t for ZWY and YZ’s amazing acting and chemistry - I don’t know if I would’ve been able to continue watching

He spread the rumour of XY not being a real Haoling princess and when he need to marry a Haoling princess to become…
Novel excerpt :(

Zhuan Xu stared at Xiao Yao’s hand and felt the absurdity of the world on him. If years ago he didn’t help Tu Shan Jing get close to Xiao Yao, if back then he made his feelings for Xiao Yao clear like Tu Shan Jing, if he never let her hand go……..would the “my dad’s daughter” that Xiao Yao was asking about today be referring to herself and not Ah Nian? Would he then happily yell “Yes!” and not once again forced to agree to marry another woman in front of Xiao Yao?

Ok I saw a spoiler clip on weibo (not sure if these are official trailer clips looool) but it is when CX confronts Xinyue and finds out she wanted to kill XY. Looks like it aligns with the leaked script. As cool as CX is for being overprotective of XY, it is interesting how they made it this “dramatic” with him slapping her because CX wasn’t like this in the novel when he learned the fact. Seems like the exaggerated a lot of the scenes in the past couple of eps (i.e XY’s wedding). Guess for the viewer’s enjoyment? Also weird how he would say “I wouldn’t dare” as an Emperor - LOL but you are the most powerful haha. That line should have been tweaked. Great acting though, but not so good script haha

Still I am not pleased with Xinyue’s attempted assassination - very poor attempt. XY wasn’t in any real danger. They should’ve at least given us that scene in the novel where FL helps Xinyue and they send assassins to kill XY and Left Ear.

Maybe at first, which is before XY getting lost and going incognito, but things changed and she now only sees…
LOL crazy huh. But I think in the novel, XY assumed he said that he didn't want to be congratulated because it was not something to be proud of - marrying the women to secure his position. But after several times, you'd think she'd at least ask why XD

I'd say that most fans agree that she only had platonic (albeit very strong) love for CX in her heart. But there…
AH you meant S1, LOL thought you were referring to S2. Yes I remember that very well and made note of that. And the way he told her that treating AN well was like treating XY well :') (poor AN LOL)

Yeah I don’t think he mentioned it in the novel but it was in the drama (S1 - when he talked to Lao Sang in Qingshui town how it wouldn’t be bad to live there with XY, and I think in S2 when he told XY how he knows she wants a normal life and talks about it).

In one of your excerpts from the novel, I think the closest relatable thing he mentioned was how he realized he wasn’t different from his parents - wanting to do all the things (he listed) with XY.

But I agree, he was destined to walk that path to power regardless. And knowing how XY was not safe with her identity, that was his best way to protect her. The promise he made to his grandma and aunt to protect XY was engraved in him - so he would sacrifice it all to ensure he’d do it. I know his heart would choose a different life but sadly it could not come true.

I just don’t like the way the leaked script outlines that part where his grandpa gave him those two choices and how he tells XY in the end that the throne was more important - basically diminishes his love for her and contradicts his main purpose all this time, making him seem like a power hungry man

THAT POSSIBILITY IS WHAT KILLS ME. And CX knew this towards the end of the novel, which was heartbreaking.

I think it was very telling (IMHO) in chapter 26 when CX marries the first woman and she thinks back at the promise they made when they were kids. She never forgot about it, but the moment he took this step for his goals was the moment they couldn't fulfill that promise. As you say, CX could no longer fulfill her requirements in a relationship. I think that was one of the points where things shifted and she stood by his side as a close kin.

why did I only see your comment now. I AM GLAD there are some more YaoXuan shippers here who interpret XY's feelings as more than platonic (at one point)

coming back to this comment (after seeing the drama go downhill) and rereading all the snippets of the novel you kindly extracted - MY HEART

I wish they could have a normal life together. I did like how CX envisioned it with him being a wine maker and her being a doctor T__T

People complaing about why season 2 doesn’t have more episodes…This season 2 is actually still season 1 but…
I think it's not about # of eps but the fact that they omitted/changed many of the major events. Ofc using the max allotted 40 eps would allow them to follow the novel more faithfully. As you say, sadly this drama is another victim of things going downhill midway.

Btw yangzi and Zhang wanyi both delivered too well in all their scenes 🔥🔥The ending scene really shook me…
I demand another drama with the two of them ASAP
Literally only continuing this mess of a script because of their amazing acting
