I can see why, I do think he suits a modern look very much, some actors suit different genres.

Interesting. I heard he lost weight for the role, and ZLY insisted for him to be the male lead. I appreciate seasoned actors for stories like these. It takes experience to bring mature characters to life and capture the emotions. Especially since there are many scenes where there isn't much dialogue or strong expressions

That lantern and fireworks date scene was so romantic. And yall say you’ll do your best to be professional and carry out your duties 🤭 the gaze doesn’t lie. Also loveeee the OST by Liu Yu Ning, really makes it more magical

side note - I see we are getting the rabbit lantern scene soon from the photos above, are they really trying to tease the whole Princess Agents fans with scenes like that (including that water scene in the beginning of the drama)? Haha. I do prefer our ShenLixXingZhi couple tho

The way XZ follows SL everywhere she goes is quite hilarious (ofc, wouldn't be normal behaviour irl) but is literally a puppy tailing her. Waits for wifey to come home, and follows her everywhere she goes

I respect ShenLi, she is candid with her feelings but can draw the line if she wants to. It is quite interesting to see XZ working through his feelings through these past few episodes, learning the variety of emotions for the first time. Even without trying, he is a master of the push and pull (he is sly just like ShenLi says), but that is also cruel to ShenLi. You can see she is baffled by his actions and questions if he knows how to make someone dislike him because he is doing the opposite. Haha. If she didn't love him, she probably would have given him a piece of her mind!

Heheh he wants to be matchy matchy. Does he ever admit to being able to read her or does SL know? I would hate it if someone can read me 24/7 hahaha. I feel like if he does then he would have prevented all of her dangerous acts before they happened

It was quite entertaining seeing his feathers ruffled today. I loved the scene at the barracks with our regal leader. The sparring scene was fun too!

I was drawn to him from ep1! The way he looked at SL with such admiration during the sparring scene was adorable

Just started the novel so hope I can get more insight that way. It seems like the drama follows the novel pretty closely as others have mentioned. I spoiled a few of the middle and ending chapters, and based on the drama trailer, it seems like they will follow the main plot til the end. Glad that will be the case.
