Still love Jiang Ni for XFN though, they’re like an old married couple with their quirky ways of showing affection. Jiang Ni doesn’t know how to fight but she is pretty smart and mature at times, sometimes moreso than XFN

Love qing niao, so pretty! Lol I’d pair her up as a FL with Ning e mei lmfao. Zhang tian ai and Zhang ruo yun played an otp in a modern series, so maybe that’s why the chemistry was there despite very few scenes on her end

Does XFN marry all the girls in the novel? I hope they change that in the drama if there are sequels because although I love all of them, I only wanna see Jiang Ni and him married. hahaha

I love Qing Niao, she is pretty, talented and a boss lady! Besides the older generation of characters, I think the supporting characters that really stood out to me were Qing Niao and Ning e Mei

Will it involve the main cast? I honestly cannot imagine a change in the main cast, it would totally alter the dynamic of the characters. I wish they had just filmed the entire series in one go to save time in reuniting the same actors.

I honestly don't get the criticisms about Teresa Li who plays Jiang Ni. Many say she is not pretty enough to be the FL, but I find her naturally pretty and cute. Her refreshing aura reminds me a lot of Ariel Lin back in the day, the actress doesn't mind laughing or crying naturally (while some actors focus on crying ''beautifully''). She isn't going to be happy go lucky especially after losing her country and shouldering the responsibilities. I find her character very wise and mature at times, sometimes even more than XFN. The actors chemistry is also pretty cute, I like the subtlety in the love line. She is the one person who XFN can be completely himself, even at his most vulnerable. Like the eldest sister said, Jiang Ni was the one who accompanied him from the beginning on his journey, and will be the one who will be by his side in the future.

I REALLY hope that they keep the main cast for season 2

Honestly, it would make more sense for the cast and crew to just film everything at once to save time. From the opening theme of the series, it says Part 1/Season 1, so I figured there must be more. If the subsequent seasons have not been filmed, does that mean they're just gonna leave us on a cliffhanger like that?!

Even if they plan on filming Part 2, it's going to be difficult hiring the same cast and I hate it when they change the main actors. With a drama, especially this one (full of narrative, wit and humor), replacing the main actors would completely change the dynamic. It would take away the quirky charm this series has and the chemistry the actors have already established. I heard they might replace Jiang Ni, but what's the point?! Despite the negative comments regarding her, I love the actress.

Even though a perfectly HE wouldn’t have made sense, it was still heartbreaking. Overall, there was closure but I wish they didn’t cut the important scenes.

FJM is truly a tragic hero - to say goodbye to your best friend and the future with your wife all in one day is too much. Death would have been easier. I guess it just goes to show that the Fangs are destined to be baixi. I’d like to console myself with the thought that if the mermaid can cure his poison, then anything is possible and open for interpretation.

Do you think HS and FJM really had a child in the end like other comments have mentioned? It was hinted a couple of times but I’d like to hope it isn’t true lol - don’t want the future generation to carry on this burden.

If i remember correctly, wasn't there an alternate ending that was released with the first Novoland with Guan xiao tong and Zhang ruo yun? I just had the thought, what if they gave us an extra scene or epilogue, but might be too good to be true LOL

yeah I caught that ''eldest son'' on top of Lang Huan's expression. Oh well, guess we will never 100% know at this point. I wish dramas will stop cutting important scenes :(

I still feel vague about whether they have a child or not, If so, there must be a lot of cut scenes. I prefer they don't have a child together because the kid will only have to take over his dad's job to serve as a baixi then. Even if his parents don't want him to, being surrounded by such loyal and righteous parents will likely influence him to make the same choices. LOL

They should have the main OTP reincarnate and give us a modern series like William Chan was talking about in an interview
