Only on episode 5 but I'm enjoying the MLs chemistry and the comedy of Shi Jing Yao. The not so subtle BL context is not lost on me, either. "You want it hard or soft?" Damn near killed me with overtness. Hope it stays this much fun to watch.
The story itself is okay, rather confusing and overly convoluted (in a dumb way) but the fights are decent and, honestly, I'm just here for the chance to watch cute boys solving things together. Go, Team!
EDIT: Um, okay, I finshed this and I'm rather disappointed. This had potential but it was wasted with actions and decisions that made no sense to me, characters that seemed pointless and were somehow out of character even from the little bit of character they gave us, and a rushed ending. Basically I felt like all this talk and setup for a decades long plot was, in the end, also pointless. Like stuff happens but then....nothing happens? For a plot to save the kingdom it felt incredibly unimportant with no visible consequences. It's strange. I can't really describe it without spoilers. The friendship between the main leads was the best part. They were super cute to watch and I'm glad I watched this show, even if it was just for them.
Watch this if you don't mind ignoring basically everything going on but want a bit of bromance, including an indirect kiss and a very direct wink. 6/10, all 6 for the boys.
I do not have the words. This is the best, most well written c-drama I've ever seen. If you like intricate plots, political intrigue, and everlasting friendships watch this. If you're intimidated by the number of episodes, don't be. 54 wasn't enough.
Fun but nothing grand. Characters are fun and likable, story is good and emotional (if a little cliche and over the top) and I'm glad I watched it, but it had several flaws. Romance was unnecessary and boring (why can't we just have a platonic friendship between men and women sometimes, Kdramas, why?), and some of the actions of the characters made me want to scream, but he found family feels were great. 7/10 overall.
Pre-romance hints. Like the possibility of more between two characters; brief flirting, heart to hearts, that sort of thing. No kissing or anything concrete.
I gave up half way through episode 4. I was interested but the romancey feel was getting too much. I wish they had focused more on the past lives part.
Great detective drama! The plot is great, the characters are wonderful (the bad guys are wonderful in that you hate them immensely), the bromance of the leads in so on point and perfect I couldn't stop smiling at some of their interactions and banter (plus the rest of the boys of Team 2 are perfect), and I was interested for the whole series, no skipping. If you like detective/crime dramas this is perfect for you. And no romance (except for some teeny hints that I will ignore forever). Season two has a lot to live up to and they better not ruin it with a romance subplot. Would have been 10/10 for me except for a choice someone made that I'll never forgive them for. Otherwise I loved this series and it's incredible detectives!
I just finished this and I do not have the words to describe just how incredibly wonderful this show is. Maybe I'll edit this when I've calmed down and can go into detail about all the reasons Racket Boys is a perfect series but right now I'm just filled with so much happiness (and terrible sadness that the show has ended) that I can't think straight. I can say, though, that if you want a wholesome, feel good, funny, smart, touching show that is about the love and strength of family (both blood and found) please, please, watch this, especially if you enjoyed Prison Playbook. It's written by the same person and I could tell just a few episodes in from how well written the show was. 10/10
My new favorite screenwriter, having written two of my favorite shows of all time. A few episodes into Racket Boys I was like "This makes me feel the same happiness I felt while watching Prison Playbook." So I had to look up the writer and was so excited to see it was the same person. Just great story telling and incredible, lovely characters. Eagerly awaiting their next work.
Cases are cool and the overarching plot about the discussion on euthanasia is interesting but the romance slows the show down too much. Every time something exciting happens or the story picks up they slam on the brakes with something boring, so the pace is annoying. Cast and OST are great, though, so if melodramas or romance is your thing this will probably be a good watch. For me Jisung was the only reason why I watched till the end.
This show was so good! Great story, excellent cast, and a satisfying end. If you want a great criminal/courtroom drama with likable characters, a bit of bromance/sismance, mystery, and a killer OST, try Law School.
I did the same thing and fast forward almost everything that wasn't about the growth of the two male leads. Romance…
You said it perfectly! I like character development so the bullies growing was good but being friends with the victims? Insane. I also agree that if they changed one character to be straight, they could have changed others things and not shoved a couple that didnt really make sense in our face. So Bin (and female leads in general) deserve better than being there for the sake of a guy's story.
How much romance is there? I'm more interested in the sci-fi aspect and don't want to be disappointed if it turns towards romance, like so many dramas do. It ruins shows for me. Thanks in advance!
In my opinion, no. I don't remember too much about it, but I remember being mad and wishing it would end. Even just reading the name infuriates me. Sorry. I don't think this answer was helpful, but it was honest.
