Yeah I dont get it. No offense b/c it was actually pretty close and everyone has the right to their ships and…
It's how the novel was written. The last book hadn't been written by the time they bought the rights to produce the drama. The production company made a deal with the author if they could do a kind of "choose your own adventure" with the ending. They wanted fans to be able to vote for their favorite couple and choose the ending for Wayu (Bas). In the novel Thanu genuinely has strong feelings for both, and at the end of book 2 he hadn't chosen who he wanted to be with. In the book he's in love with Wayu, but he feels guilty because he never was supposed to fall in love with him only watch over him for Pha. For Phai he's drawn to him because of the visions but his heart isn't in it, which is why at the end of the last season we see him decide he wants to make his own destiny and finally chooses Yu.
since gen y was going off of 2moons i dont get why they literally just got rid of wayu and pha. like they were…
Because this story was made by a different author as an alternative universe to 2Moons. What people don't understand is that these stories are actually a separate series of books called Gen Y written by Liu Lijun. They are not the same story and the only way they are connected is that the characters Mark (Ming), Kij (Kit), Wayu (Wayo), and Pha (Phana) are based on the 2moons characters, the storyline isn't supposed to mirror 2Moons or be a continuation of 2Moons, it's a new story. The author did this on purpose BECAUSE she didn't like aspects of 2Moons, specifically Wayu and Pha's storyline. While some of the main characters are the same or similar (Mark, Kij, and Wayu) the majority of the characters are new and original. If you read the novels Phai actually doesn't even make an appearance, he's just mentioned, which is why he doesn't show up in the live-action. This happens quite often in fanfiction when fans of stories or media don't like the direction a storyline is taking, so they write their own. The producers chose this specific storyline because of the drama with the author of 2Moons. Fans wanted to see 2Moons2 reprised with the original cast and that was never going to happen, so they found an alternative.
Please, if you're going to consume media from different cultures, try to learn about their culture and the origins…
You're right. I went with the most common usage in an effort to make what I was saying more easily understood, and I shouldn't have, google is readily available for anyone who doesn't have an immediate reference to specific terminology. I've edited my comment to be both the most appropriate term (that I know of) and understandable, thank you for pointing that out.
can someone please explain to me why the romance is so choppy? We really ended last episode with a kiss that genuinely…
I'm pretty sure Yoon Oh imagined the kiss, because it looked like a dream sequence. When he started singing Peach wasn't next to him but in front cheering him on and the theater was dark. They switched to clearly a bright theater with a stage, Peach beside him, and other people applauding. Yoon Oh was imagining what he wished that moment to be like for them. The kiss basically never actually happened between them which explains why there was no mention of it and things just jumped back to reality.
Please, if you're going to consume media from different cultures, try to learn about their culture and the origins…
I mean your comment was incredibly disrespectful and derogatory. You called their form of showing affection "shit" and said they should "drop it", you also said they should do it "properly" like there is only one way to do something or to show love and affection. I'm telling you that "I' personally found your comment offensive and problematic so you can take that however you like, it's my personal opinion after all. If you're aware of "PDAs and culture" as you said than your comment makes absolutely no sense, and in fact makes what you said worse, as you deliberately ignored the fact that this is a part of their culture and still want them to stop doing it and change to mirror your own cultural standards. It doesn't matter what your background is or what you see as a sniff-kiss from your own culture, that's very ethnocentric.
I hate sniff-kiss. Either do proper or not do it at all. This Thai-BL seriously need to drop this shit. It is…
Please, if you're going to consume media from different cultures, try to learn about their culture and the origins of certain actions, idioms, etc. The sniff kiss or hom kaem is the most common and accepted form of showing affection and love, it literally means breathing in the perfect and unique scent of the one you love. A lot of Asian cultures take more delicate and sweet forms of PDA over overt ones like direct kisses. In fact, Thai people rarely kiss in public, usually that gesture is so intimate it's reserved for private spaces like the bedroom, but even then the sniff-kiss is seen as something incredibly sweet for couples to do in any context (for example Thai couples actually sniff-kiss as their "wedding kiss" rather than kiss at the end of the ceremony like Western couples do). Due to morality issues kissing actually wasn't commonly even seen on screen until after the 1990s. Today, even in more progressive and touristy places like Bangkok public displays of affection are not accepted, in some parts of Thailand even holding hands is taboo. The reason for this is due to the belief that the body is a sacred, the head in particular is the most sacred as that is where the soul lies in Thai culture and therefore you should not infringe upon that space. It doesn't matter if you "hate" it (which is odd btw) it's an important part of Thai culture that should be respected by people outside of it. A lot of different cultures have things like this, for example the Inuit Kunik (rubbing noses). You might think kissing is a common form of expressing love but actually it isn't, almost half of all the world's cultures either don't kiss or never do so outside the bedroom.
I'm actually a little obsessed with this already! I really like the pacing, it takes its time which is nice. And…
I was thinking the same about Aue! I thought it was refreshing to see that he doesn't seem to be the typical lead tropes: asshole, cold, reserved, stoic, arrogant lol the list goes on. I hope they continue with that as I think it would be a nice switch up from the usual.
I'm loving this already, the food porn is everything and I'm all for a good slow burn. There have been too many sped-through series lately. Suffice to say, I need to be well-fed before watching this, or I'm going to sit there drooling the whole time haha. I'm excited to see the development happen between the two leads, and I'm already liking some of the secondary characters that I hope they develop more as the series progresses.
It's everything that's left unsaid. There's a lot of underlying tension, each of the characters has a very front-facing or public personality, but also an unspoken undercurrent that leaves you guessing as a viewer. It's intriguing and I'm hooked.
Well, it's official, Kaeng and Puth are still my favorite couple, with Thurs/Pae and Sun/Nuea in that order after. I do admit to having a soft spot for Mon/Team purely because of Mon, I really loved his character. I actually grew to love his character more so because of his continuous appearances in the other stories, his character was both hilarious and adorable. Also, his relationship with Puth is just everything...they're so cute, they truly reminded me of brothers.
The last story was such a missed opportunity. In my opinion, I think it's obvious Masuk is still in love with Tir. They kept reiterating that the love they had was rare, and even during Jia's confession to Masuk he said Masuk didn't need to love him and he would likely never measure up to Tir but he still wanted to take care of him. I think the saddest part of this is that people kept pushing Masuk to move on by finding "someone else", I mean you can be happy without being in a relationship. If Tir was Masuk's soulmate (which how could you not come to that conclusion?) then yeah, nobody was ever going to measure up again and he lost him unfortunately soon. In the last episode, Masuk said nothing about his feelings for Tir had changed but he was going to do what Tir asked and open himself up. It's obvious that without Tir telling him it hurt him to see Masuk so sad he wouldn't have made the same decision. I feel like they should have shown Masuk coming to terms with Tir's death (which he needed to do) and then moving on and being happy with his friends solo and starting to heal. Not every love story has a happy ending, but that doesn't mean that the characters themselves need to wallow in misery or find themselves another relationship to be happy and fulfilled. I actually think it would have been lovely to show the last scenes between Masuk and Tir, where it's clear they still are very much in love and Tir tells him to just be happy and he'll watch over him. And then show Masuk moving on with his life in healthier ways. That way it wouldn't have been totally weird for them to keep showing Tir, he would simply be waiting for him until they're able to meet again.
I've enjoyed this BL for the most part, but I must say Mork and Pi, while they look great together, are one of…
Ok I just have to comment that you saying psycho triggered the fact that when it panned to Mork smiling on his bed in the dark after talking to Pi...something about that immediately had my head spinning psycho-thriller music lol I've been disturbed by this man on so many levels, but I agree that Pi has issues that definitely don't need an overbearing, possessive boyfriend to fix. I know that was technically supposed to be a cute moment, but for me personally, it gave me the heebie-jeebies.
I don't know, throughout this whole series I've felt that Mork is too obsessed and I can't get over it. His behavior is so problematic, he never even gives Pi a chance to breathe, he's constantly pushing, constantly in his space, constantly following him. Imagine some random stranger infiltrating themselves into your life without you knowing - Pi trusted in this friend he had made online and without him knowing it was Mork who had a vested interest in his feelings turning toward him - stalking you around school, ignoring your wishes, not believing you when you said your feelings aren't the same as theirs, gaslighting you into questioning yourself, trying to coerce things by perpetuating this false narrative that you're dating by announcing it live online against your wishes and fanning the flames of rumors, following you home?! It's fucking creepy! It's too much!
You don't tell someone who is already questioning their self-worth, already insecure, already uncertain, and trying to navigate really vulnerable moments, that they don't know their own mind. That you know better and they don't know their own thoughts and feelings. That is gaslighting, manipulative, abusive behavior 101. I don't care how much you believe or how true it is that they DO have feelings for you, you respect what someone is telling you, and you back off. If someone is telling you "leave me alone", "stop", "don't do this" those aren't keywords to push harder and find other insidious ways of making sure you get what you want. You don't continue to obscure your identity even after you've met someone so you can hear and coach them through their innermost thoughts, insecurities, and concerns to better your own outcome in a situation. How many times has Pi told Mork point blank, "I don't feel the same way, just stop" and his response has been "Yes, you do, nothing you say or do is going to convince me otherwise." That's just so...scary. Not to mention him randomly showing up at Pi's house and saying, "yea, I'm right outside your window" then proceeding to wax poetic about his obsession over him. W.T.F.
Then when Mork finally wears him down (I love how even in that moment Pi still says, I don't feel the same way) and gets what he wants and Pi asks him to give him some space to just figure things out for himself, he's almost suffocating with his presence. Dude, ever considered that Pi just isn't that into you? Or not ready for a relationship? If it takes that much for you to get someone to say "ok fine! I'm not sure about this but we can be together in secret so you stop pushing the issue" you're just beating a dead horse at that point. No way they're convincing me that Pi actually has strong feelings for Mork. No way. He was willing to do whatever it took before to be with Mueang Nan, even going so far as to embarrass himself publicly multiple times, but someone he supposedly is in love with he's suddenly concerned about how that might look? I don't buy it. He was pressured and coerced into his feelings, he was manipulated and taken advantage of in vulnerable/insecure moments, he was confused and persuaded, nothing about this rings like a true connection from both ends. Rant over, but this just perpetuates so many problematic tropes and I've been increasingly disturbed by the way Mork is portrayed here. His being handsome does not take away from the ick factor of his actions. Would people be saying "awe, cute" if this was someone who wasn't nearly so young and good-looking? I think not.
This show is based off a series of novels called GenY written by Liu Lijun (a completely different author from…
Meh not really, it happens all the time lol Twilight was a spinoff/fanfiction of 50 Shades of Grey. There are innumerable fanfics that come from popular books/shows/movies, a lot of them even get published, they just change character names to avoid a direct connection to the original work. It's pretty common in the fanfic world for things like that to happen. The only way you can claim copyright is if they've copied something exactly for a specific length. It's actually pretty hard to claim copyright over material that's been inspired by something you've created. Liu Lijun actually didn't even use the same names for the characters she chose to keep from the 2Moons novels, they've made them more similar on purpose for this show.
The reason we even have this show is because fans of the OG 2Moons have been badgering the management company for them to re-do 2Moons with the OG characters, specifically because of MingKit. The problem with that is that there is some bad blood between them and the author, so they found a story that was in the same vein - and centered around KimmonCop as the main couple - to give fans what they wanted, was kind of a f'u to the author and production company behind 2Moons2, and still kept them free from doing anything with the original 2Moons franchise. It's all pretty hilarious imo lol
Whats the deal with this show? It's obviously a 2 Moons thing but they changed everyone's name slightly which…
This show is based off a series of novels called GenY written by Liu Lijun (a completely different author from 2Moons). This story is an alternate universe from 2Moons, which is why some of the characters are present but the story is very different, and we also have a whole new cast of characters. As happens a lot in fanfiction the author didn't like what happened in 2Moons and decided to make her own story based on some of the characters from the 2Moons novel. Basically, this doesn't have anything to do with 2Moons other than the author wrote a spinoff from some of the characters.
Well it's official lol the vote ended and we know who Yu's endgame is haha. I'm just happy Bas seems so comfortable and happy with his co-star this time around, they have a lovely friendship.
Finally brought myself to finish this, I put it off for so long because sitting through it was getting to the point where it felt like I was sitting through watching paint dry, with nails on a chalkboard level cringe to add spice every now and then. Honestly, the whole series is pretty...meh. Not great, certainly not inspired, but passable? That's a question because I vacillated a lot between that being a yes or a no. In my opinion, very hit or miss for people, I guess it truly depends on what your expectations are. There was potential there for this not to be full of run of the mill tropes, a watered-down storyline, unnecessary fanservice, and problematic interactions but anyone who expected something different from Mame was kidding themselves...I certainly should have known better so it's my own fault for expecting more. To be very fair, Mew and Gulf both deserved a hell of a lot better than what they had to work with and I truly hope they move on to a project worthy of their potential.
