When she walked away in the game lol
Ha ha, right? Clearly, they all tricked her into being there, telling her Gong would be playing the role and not XZY, meanwhile he set it up and this is his attempt to win her back. Which....points for taking it to the game, sir!

Guys I just remembered! Did everyone notice ML did contact the supply company which FL chose, told him to keep…
Yep! I think it's his back up plan when things go sideways with Zhuling!

this comment and your analysis of recent events and characters is a 10/10, thank you for taking the effort of…
Thank you so much! I forgot to mention it in my long comment, but I also love how HX reacts to XZY's decision to move out and basically ghost her on a "personal" level. It's such a great character consistency and call back to her reaction to him beating her in the game! Her sending the dress back was like leaving him that note, lol. She's also hurt and confused by his actions, so she's allowing that distance to stand for now, but I'm GUESSING from trailers I've seen that she eventually goes into the game to corner him and confront him emotionally - via the game - which will be such a brilliant move for them if I'm right!

Thank you!

Title Love between Lines Spoiler
I have SO MANY thoughts after these latest episodes. First of all, for anyone considering not watching them because we've reached an area of "pulling back" or conflict for our leads, I encourage you to watch, because the way this show is handling it is NOT like other dramas. (Also, you'll miss out on some very sweet moments in ep 15).

SPOILERS below:

I've seen a lot of concern about the SML disrupting the romance, and first of all, let me assure you that is NOT what is happening. The way this show underlies everything with subtle realism is honestly a masterclass in writing, directing, and acting. Other dramas should take notes. Just like the love story is full of subtle undertones and a lot of "show don't tell" and things being communicated with a look or a smile, this is also true in this phase of the story.

For example, the SML definitely targets her but not in an overwhelming way, and it's definitely in a "let me do this to irritate my brother" way. Sure, he admires her, but at one point the FL specifically calls him out and tells him point blank, "I know you've never been truly interested in me, but only in your brother." She bluntly calls out his actions and how they are putting her in a difficult spot professionally, and that she knows it's about his conflict with the ML. Then she asks him to stop using her, and sincerely communicates her wish for them to work well together professionally and honestly. You can tell in this moment that he is surprised and also admires her honestly. Few people treat him with that level of blunt sincerity.

Personally, I loved this entire scene and I think it speaks to a possible reconciliation between the brothers in the future. PZ's interference, instead of being some melodramatic triangle or insertion of conflict, instead provides a very nice layer of internal conflict for the ML, who is already struggling with his decision to step back from the FL and that struggle is only intensified by PZ's treatment of her. I don't think it's simply jealousy, either. Sure, one layer is jealous, not because he thinks HX will fall for PZ's obvious attempts to charm her, but because he has denied himself the ability to do anything similar, and in fact she threw his last gift to her back in his face (the dress) when he pulled back and created this boundary neither of them really wants. He finds it frustrating, because his own choices have put him in a position where all he can do is sit back and watch this happen, and he doesn't even have the right to question her about what PZ is saying to her or feel her out about any of it because he drew a line in their personal life, and it's driving him nuts. (as seen in the scene where everyone is teasing her about the chocolates and he leaves the room mid-coffee acquirement, leaving the coffee streaming into nothing because he's so internally in conflict.) At the same time, when faced with the ability to prevent her from spending more time with PZ, he specifically does not interfere, because at the end of the day he knows and trusts HX to handle herself and the situation. He KNOWS she knows what PZ is really up to, and he TRUSTS her to handle it herself, and she does. She doesn't need him protecting her and getting involved, even thought everything in him wants to. I absolutely love it! This is such a great portrayal of the depth of understanding and relationship that actually exists between them.

And handle it, she does. Neatly putting PZ in his place.

And speaking of PZ, I don't think he knows the details of the company's finances. I think there is shady stuff his father has done and he has no idea, and I think eventually his father will openly cross a line and PZ will actually chose his brother over his father. We'll see if I'm right.

Another thing I want to talk about is the SL's relationship. Wow. FIRST of all, he got pulled into that kiss and looked shocked. I think the show may go into a direction of "big misunderstanding" vs "cheating". But I don't know yet. At the end of the day, even if it's only been for the development of this project, he's been lying to his wife, hiding things from her, and catering to this younger female colleague for the sake of his project in a way that is extremely hurtful. IF he's not cheating, there COULD BE a path to fixing his marriage through open communication and a lot of groveling, and cutting off ALL contact with this woman who knows he's married is pursuing him openly anyway, and using this project to do it. The show has done a great job of being just as subtle here as it is with the leads. On the surface, he seems to love his wife and is doing this project to create a financially secure future for them. However, there have been a lot of very negative warning signs. When the guy hit her in the game, it was the FL, not the husband who stepped in and intervened. Red flag. Forgetting the anniversary and giving her the "free gift" from the restaurant as his gift, as though he remembered? RED FLAG. And obviously, all of the late night time and meetings with this other woman, HUGE RED FLAG. If he is cheating, the show has done a great job of showing how that might look IRL, a man acting like he's devoted to his wife, but secretly has someone on the side. Or how situations can spiral from good intentions into bad decisions. I think it could still go either way, but I know the novel storyline would indicate they will separate and she will end up with someone else, so I'm going to guess that's the direction here as well. Still, super well done and well portrayed.

Her going through this will also give the FL a chance to support her friend and have something else to focus on during this time of the ML placing this distance between them.

One of the things I'm enjoying most about this drama is how it subverts expectations set by other dramas, but in a really good way. It's doing things more subtly, more realistically. The FL's co-workers all treat her well. The second in command - a woman - isn't jealous or vying for the attention of the ML - and I also think she's picked up on the subtle cues and knows there is something going on between FL and ML and approves, in her way. The friendship between the FL and SFL is genuine and real and they are both there for each other in times of need, it's not one sided. Even the antagonism between the ML and SML I believe may end up heading to resolution and reconciliation in the future. They've made him not a truly bad person, just a person who has been manipulated by his father and used since he was young, but he's also smart, savvy, and truly cares about the company and other people. I think at the end of the day he will choose justice and his brother.

Checking in to see how today’s episodes are. Someone tell me how bad it is so I can prepare myself when I watch…
PZ doesn't tear anything apart. But, no they are not together. Our ML gets reminded by someone else that the road to justice will likely get dangerous, and he convinces himself he doesn't have the right to pursue happiness and pull her into it. Buuuut there are sweet moments prior to this and I think you should watch. and of course, our FL isn't going to take the ML suddenly trying to distance himself lying down. At least, that's what I'm seeing where I'm currently at in ep 16.

OMG!!! Just finished the NY's scene in ep 16, and poor HX!! Her honest confusion when he refuses her kiss and then tells her he's moving out. Girl you were NOT misreading the signs. He is so head over heels for you, but now he's convinced himself he can't disrupt your life with his quest for justice, especially since his uncle reminded him how dangerous it might get. But XH in that moment....I felt so bad for her! For him, too. He struggled so much with that. He came to the lane even though he knew after visiting his uncle he should keep his distance, and then he tried to leave but her parents just steam rolled right over his protests and pulled him in, and he got to glimpse what it could be like being with her and being part of her family....and it took him a long moment to turn away and refuse her on the roof. He was struggling so hard.

And he doesn't even know about the connection for her father's leg injury yet!

Okay, I'm mentally preparing myself for the next few episodes of angst and distance for our leads....I think from trailers I've seen that she eventually corners him in the game world but going in and deliberately provoking him, and man I can't believe we have to wait probably until ep 19 for that!

You guys, the subtle mastery of the balcony scene! I love, love, LOVE how this drama portrays the unfolding romance so much. It's so real, honestly. As someone who eventually married my best friend, when things shifted between us there wasn't a grand declaration, just a subtle change in how we interacted, and I feel like this show has captured that feeling so perfectly with our leads. Kudos to CXX and LYX for their acting, because the layers in this one scene are so good. She's angry and hurt he didn't tell her about his decision, and he knows that. I love how he also knows the moment she's stopped being angry with him, and the way she understands him so clearly. "I think if you made this decision it must be the best path, not a last resort." (paraphrasing)

She's also touched with his gift of the dress, and he loves seeing her in it. The back and forth, the quiet stares when they're not even talking but so much is being communicated. The way he laughs with her, telling her she looks pretty, how comfortable they are together. This scene is such an example of what makes this drama so special.

Thank you for bringing this up!! 😭 Amidst all the chaos and theory-crafting, can we please just appreciate…
I watch a lot of dramas, but each year only a handful of shows are a 10/10 for me. If this show keeps this up to the end, it will be the first of 2026. I may even acquire a blu ray of it like I did for last year's Prisoner of Beauty. It certainly is a show (SO FAR) that I am enjoying rewatching just as much as the first viewing.

Right? Exactly. The scene in the convenience store when she gets the phone call for the interview and she's giddy - he can't hide how much he loves it. He' still planning on making her earn that position, the CEO in him isn't giving her a job, just an opportunity, but the man can't help but feel so happy at her joy - that he gave her - in that moment. He can't hide it or maintain that aloof barrier in that scene.

One thing is very consistent about the Male lead...He likes to handle things on his own!! Poor thing madly wants…
And personally, I can't wait for that to happen! He's held himself under such tight control this entire time, not allowing himself to feel too much...and now that he does, not allowing himself to act on it - and he can't maintain that forever. IDK if HX will be prepared when he's not keeping all of what he feels so tightly leashed anymore, lol.

I think one of the show's strengths- I mean, it has many, but this is definitely one that carries the unfolding romance - is CXX's ability to act without speaking a word. He communicates SO much with his little half smiles that he hides the moment she looks at him, or the way his whole face softens like it did with the dress, or just his eyes. I'm doing a rewatch with my daughter at a slower pace, so 2-3 episodes a week, and we just finished episode 5 last night, and even early on there are so many little moments that come through even though he's still holding himself aloof. You can see so clearly that he admires her cleverness and the way she challenges him in the game, even when he's trying hard to completely ignore her in those early IRL moments.

Okay, I am only in the beginning of today's episodes, so there is so much more to happen, BUT.....you guys, he bought her the dress he saw and imagined for her! 🥰 I haven't seen anyone comment on that in my cursory sweep through the comments this morning. The way his face softened when he saw her in it. 🥹
