Some may find these parts slow, but I quite like watching the scenes depicting the more "boring" or tedious side of governance. It is these people - the ones faithfully counting every expense, recording them and being diligent in their tasks that make our governments run on a daily basis.

Then you have the self-serving people in the shadows (literally these scenes are full of shadows with the lighting - don't think that's unintentional) plotting to get something for themselves. Such was mankind before and today - and tomorrow?

I wonder if it is indeed true they haven’t found the ML yet, or if they are just keeping it ultra secret.

As a longtime fan of historical dramas, I’ve been generally really enjoying this so far. And may I just say, that opening title song is super catchy and stuck in my head.

He’s like a stand-in for the audience. Like, “huh? Please explain to us mere commoners lacking in 4D chess skills.” 😂

I wouldn’t worry too much, friend. He’s now more careful with choosing his projects - and he’s not lacking in scripts offered from what I can tell. I’m sure he will film something later this year, we’ll just have to wait.

The industry in China of late seems to make things a popularity contest instead of focusing on crafting good works, which is a shame in my opinion for all the hardworking actors, etc that just want to play meaningful roles.

Yeah, it didn’t quite soar or move me as it could have maybe if it had been fleshed out more or just simplified to allow the 28 episodes to really develop and breathe with the first part (the revenge story). But still an entertaining watch.

I don’t work in the entertainment industry, so I wouldn’t know, but he’s free to do as he pleases. In my opinion, there are too many disappointing dramas and scripts out there right now, so I support any actor who wants to pick a project they actually want to do.

But I get your feelings. As fans, we want MORE now lol. But I’m happy to wait for a good show.

Some time passed between then and when the show went back to the capital storyline (when the Wuyue envoy went to pay tribute and saw everything was in chaos).

As you keep watching, the story will start to focus on some key players, and it becomes easier.

I'm not too familiar with the history, but the show did briefly mention that he did not want to submit to the Khitan and fought. Ultimately, he lost battles and I think he was betrayed by some people. Again, it went by super fast in the drama - probably things cut out.

I'm still catching up on this - can't fast forward this show for sure, the dialogue is so dense. And I can listen to Lord Feng speak for hours - such a captivating performance.

It’s been great, I agree. Not your average period idol drama dialogue for sure.

Great historical epic so far. I did do a tiny bit of reading on the history, but I’m able to follow it all surprisingly well.

No idea yet, but I imagine a bit closer to when it will be airing (and we don’t have a date yet for that either).

I’m watching from the US, looks like my options are YouTube or Viki.

I would disagree, but I suppose it could be viewed as an open ending since no one knows who the person actually was.
