I know these booting ceremonies are big and typical in Chinese entertainment, but they aren't necessarily in other countries. I think also in the past other dramas have quietly started filming as well (A Dream of Splendor comes to my mind) before announcing cast and everything else. But I get it. DW's fans were expecting something, and to be somewhat led around and disappointed doesn't leave a good taste.

My point exactly as you said: many of these rumors and speculations are used by certain people with malicious intent.
But I'm not exonerating the drama's PR - I completely agree that it's been very rocky and just not sophisticated from the start. Even if you give them the benefit of the doubt (that they don't actually mean anything bad toward DW), it just doesn't look very good from someone on the outside (people like us) looking in. Just common sense would be all they need lol, but what do I know, I don't work in PR. Maybe they need to hire more peeps.

He came into acting later on, so he had not had any formal training, so admittedly his line delivery/pronunciation was not up to par at first (especially for period/costume dramas). I can tell he’s been working on it especially in the past couple years, so hopefully he can do it now.

Yeah, not my favorite, but I think it will be one of his probably many looks/costumes. As a hostage prince, it’s probably a persona he’s adopting. If I’m wrong, then eww, need to go back to drawing board 😂
