I'm not familiar with the original novel, but I first saw Li Qin in The Song of Glory, in which she places a pretty badass assassin, so my impression of her was her ability to plan stronger female roles. She's definitely been able to do other types of roles since, so I think she could pull off most anything. As far as other actresses for FL, I think anyone either similar age to DW (assuming he takes the ML role) or a bit older would be more fitting for this type of FL role.

I agree, I would like to watch this pairing. I feel like Li Qin hasn’t had much to do in the Joy of Life series, so this may be one that would allow her to stretch more.

Yeah, I don't feel the chemistry so far. She's very grounded and mature (well, having lived another life already lol), but unfortunately for me so far Yu Qi acts much younger and inexperienced. Which is a shame because I know Zhang Wan Yi is capable of a much darker/dangerous performance.
