Wish I could just watch the rest of the episodes in one go! But I am enjoying FY’s return and her accepting the role of Phoenix Lord/Queen. She realizes there is unfinished business. Also enjoying seeing the difference between YQ and how he was as Gujin. He’s grown up. Now I wonder how he will make things right with FY/Ayin.
I think she'll get what she deserves in the end (probably will start to see some of it in this week's episodes),…
She’s weak in terms of status and power in the first half of the drama. She’s young but not stupid. Unfortunately, the ones with power do bully her. When she returns as phoenix in ep 27, the tables are turned though.

Yes and no regarding the peacock. She's a complex character and important to the plot, so I'd say some of her stuff is worth watching, especially things involving Lanfeng (her would-be husband), but again, a lot of the things she does in the first half of the drama to FL you can skim through it if it gets too much for you...just repeat to yourself that she's gonna get what is due to her later lol.
And yes, ML's aunt is through and through an annoying character. I usually skimmed through her scenes, just getting the basic gist of the stupid things she says. There was only one scene so far in ep 19 I think it is important to watch between her and ML.
He will, but get ready, there’s more heartache ahead.
Yep, not a big fan of that stretch of episodes with the memory loss. After that, so 19-20 onwards, it's been very good (though angsty, but I like my xianxia angsty).
I so badly want to start this drama but that peacock girl is making me hesitate so bad. I saw a few clips of her…
I think she'll get what she deserves in the end (probably will start to see some of it in this week's episodes), so at least there is that to look forward to. If you like xianxia and coming of age stories with a very warm, sweet and young love type of romance (that is depicted so far in the drama), I would give it a try. There is a stretch of episodes around 14-19 where you can skip through a lot of it if it gets too irritating lol.
Ironically, I dropped Ancient Love Poetry, but this one has gained a special place in my heart. I'm so happy that…
I enjoyed reading your post, it seems we have similar thoughts about Gujin/YQ’s story and character so far. I hope his full arc is a satisfying one; so far it has been a lovely watch. I usually speed through annoying angsty parts, but this one has been a nice angsty stretch so far.
At least Bai Jue knew what he wanted, what was important to him. He knew his goals and kept going towards his…
I think Kiko said it beautifully, but you are exactly right. Yuanqi is young, and he’s made some terrible mistakes and is inexperienced in dealing with politics and people. That is the main difference for me between him and his father, which makes this drama distinct in its depiction of not just his coming of age story but that of the whole main cast (including Ayon, Hongyi and Yan Shuang). While this drama’s story isn’t particularly groundbreaking or new, I find it a timeless kind of story of the challenges one faces when growing up to full adulthood.
Finally, ep 27. Time for all the hypocritical and murderous immortals (I'm looking at you peacocks and that stupid Fengming) to get their just desserts.
I think I'll have to wait until tomorrow to watch ep 26, ep 25 was a lot.
I know many here are unhappy (probably understatement) with the ML, but just watching it as impartially as I could, he was pushed to a difficult place - some of it his own making for not talking things through in advance with AY or his friends. He's still just trying to do things on his own and making a mess of things.
These immortals are supposed to be fair and upholders of law and due process, but once they saw AY enter the demonic formation to save Yuanqi, they just lazily assumed she was in cahoots with the demons because they were still angry about the whole Daze and Lanfeng disasters. Of course, this was all instigated by that ugly-smirk-face Peacock King. If Yuanqi had enough experience and maturity, he should have known to take a step back, calm things down and not resort to destroying Ningyun Mtn and sealing her immortal bones so quickly. I can understand he wanted to save AY and thought those drastic measures would shut those stinkin immortals up. He still has a lot learn, but I feel for him. He's trying so hard to save her and yet he's the one to cause her so much pain. So yes, despite being a god, he is useless in his current state until he can learn from his very fatal mistakes. I hope his journey is a worthwhile one to watch (I never read the novel) - I don't mind these growing pains if the end result is satisfying.
As far as him deserving the FL - I'll have to wait and see how their story progresses. Affection is there, but a lasting relationship and true partnership will take more, including sacrifice and honoring each other's wishes/desires.
