I think that is because, it's shown like that for the time being probably to explain it later to the viewers. For now they are purposefully keeping it ambiguous.
Another reason could be because SCHs image from TBOY that's why many are expecting him to go rogue. Though BRs SCH is different, so is SMY. I am sure they will give an explanation soon.
Also he needs to breakthrough the Yama Palm if they really want to keep fighting all these crazy people especially the Eunuch guy. He must have realised Eunuch guy's strength when he met him and the first prince. So as a patriarch he is aware that in his current stage he will not be able to do his fullest.

In episode 32, it seems Yama palm is something that can tackle Tang Linghuang in his puppet form like SMY and SCH's master did. Night Crow was surprised and she also says to the arrow guy if they follow they will be killed.
This could also be the reason SCH has to, has to breakthrough the final level of Yama Palm.

They should have done it earlier. Now also also they are just adding scenes to the existing episodes and not increasing episodes. Not everyone will get to know I guess. If they have mentioned it on the platform to go and rewatch that's a different story. I hope for future episodes they can take care of it if they still can edit the episodes. I don't know if they can do that. If they can edit released episodes, sure they should be able to edit the yet to be released episodes.

Funniest part is, Now that SMY and SCH are working to give BR this new image, other elders back in Blood River are farming. I mean they even need to pass SMY's test once he is back.. Never seen a character confess their love with such a straight face. That only SMY can do.. He never loses his character whether he is fighting, teasing or confessing his love.
