It all started with SCH taking SMYs place as lantern child. Why he did that for SMY and not someone else is unknown. There so many nameless kids, why did he take SMYs place.
And that's when this beautiful bond began. SCH took over as lantern child, SMY came following him and brought him back everytime he was left injured in the fields.
Then the wailing Abyss happened, they fought, SCH almost killed himself but SMY won't allow it. Infact SMY ended challenging the entire foundation of BR, even the patriarch. He was ready to fight anyone who had any intention of hurting SCH at least not until he was alive.
SMY being SMY had rigid rules, SCH decided to take all tasks SMY won't so Soul Hall won't harm SMY.
SMY gave SCH a family and SCH held it close to his heart. What a beautiful bond.

The old guy Liu Yunqi, that SMY is hell bent on killing is the sword master of WuShuang (in today's episode current City Lord called him master).

If you go back to the conversation in episode 18 between SMY and the guy in the homeland (one of the 18 survivors of the blood river gang that attacked No-Sword city) you'll be able to find the name of this old man Liu YunQi who SMY is fighting in Episode 20.
Usually Blood Rivers assassins do not know who their clients are, that's why they never had to kill their own team members.
But in case of No-Sword City attack, while blood river assassins were attacking the city they came across another group of people who were looking for No-Sword city's sword manuals. There was a clash between BR river and the other group of people, that's when BR guys realised the sword technique the other unknown group of people used was from Wushuang city. By this they were able to conclude that Wushuang city was involved in the attack at No-Sword city as a direct employer for this mission or they were party with whoever asked for this attack. That's why Blood River's 93 assassins were attacked to silence them because their employer's info was released unknowingly and only 18 were able to survive

Back then SMYs dad and Liu Yunqi had a duel (like SMY mentioned in epi 20) and SMYs seemed to have won but this Liu Said it was a tie. SMY also says that his dad was more ecstatic about finding a good sword master in Liu Yubqi than winning the duel. That means SMYs father actually admired the old man for his skills.

That's why it is clear that when Wushuang city attacked No Sword city that only must have happened with the permission of the city master Liu Yunqi. In a way, backstabbing SMYs father. That's why SMYs has gone all out on this guy.

I guess the way SMY kept berating and challenging every elder at Wushuang city was to drag Liu Yunqi out for a duel and kill the guy for his direct/indirect involvement in his father's killing and annihilation of his birth city.

Ohh thats another perspective. I like that. I just hope makers considered SCHs past, a plot point important enough to give us viewers a closure. If they did, I don't mind how they do it.

Seriously. And to inagine that there will be a time when this won't be the case makes me sad. Very sad.

Hahahaaa.. why SCH. How did you come up to that conclusion.
Now I cant stop imagining SCH sitting on a throne chair sifting through episode schedule with his daggers.. hahaa SCH in a corporate setting..

Now there is no chance, unless there is another copy somewhere or they encounter someone who know SCHs past or SMY ends up finding someone as he follows hjs journey through Wushuang city or other future encounter.

It would really be nice to know about his origins. And if it is somehow connected with SMY that would be cherry on the cake, though chances are very less.

I also felt bad for Su ChangLi, his younger brother. May be SCH did not want to know about his origins but Su ChangLi was definitely interested.

I am okay with that. Else I'd be lost about the plot or new characters making an appearance evey other episode. Especially for a person like me who has no idea of the other two shows. Sometimes I need some repeat info because when they mention a character in epi 19, whose last apperance was way back in epi 2 then I am like Su LuanDan who??
These names and techniques are new words, terminologies so I am glad they give some glimpse into it.
But this may not be true for everyone, so I understand.

This is like one of the oldet martial artists of Wushuang city. They all feel their city is still number 1, they are still top martial artists, which is not the case. They live in a coccoon of their own, deny to see the reality.
Or may be they feel their reality is the only reality. No wonder they aren't taken seriously even by the mere merchant traveller.

My question is SCH is the one who wanted to 'be the light'. As far as I see in BR, 'The Other Shore' is his mission like SMYs is to live like an ordinary man. What made SCH to loose his way?
Is it like SMY said in epi 10 that SCH tends get carried away by greed and ambition. Did he get to ambitious in TBOY? So much that SMY had to kill him to stop.?
