The worst thing about this series is that if I didn't read the book, I wouldn't know what this series is about.…
It is confusing, but I didn't think Dean became a pervert, he was just attempting to move things along (which usually happens at some point in a committed relationship). I'm more confused by Pharm's lack of response. Scared is one thing, but at least tell your partner about it in advance, rather than making them guilty for making any kind of move. Pharm practically freaks out just from a kiss.
P'New alr set the screening of last ep on 1st march and thai fans asuming the series will have more than 12eps…
I agree with you completely. People would do well to remember two things: 1) this is a discussion board, not a fan page and 2) it is possible to be critical of a series and still enjoy it.
BLs (especially Thai BLs) have come a long way from where they started. Going back and watching some of the "pioneer" series, I'm almost shocked at how much poorer they were, compared to what we're seeing now. I can't help but feel that the authors and directors actually DO pay some attention to what the fans think, both good and bad. Criticism can lead to growth.
If there is a Season 2, what do you suppose it would be about? There would probably have to be more angst and drama, because an entire series about a "happily ever after" couple wouldn't be all that interesting, would it?
I don't agree with you 100%.... I mean I am BL fan and I know that if you watch on LINETV we may get another season…
I hear you, as I always watch the official links! But... I just got started watching BLs about 2 years ago, I didn't even know they existed. On a flight, I happened to see the American gay-themed movie "Love, Simon."
As a gay male, I really appreciated that there was a feel good film about a gay high schooler. So I went on YouTube to see if there might be some clips of the film. There were, but I noticed all these thumbnails with Asian men kissing. I had no idea what they were, so I clicked on one and discovered "Addicted" which I watched on YT. From there, I watched Sotus, Make it Right and others (all on YT). I was officially hooked on BL.
I eventually found this site (yay!) and now I understand how important it is to watch the official links, so I now do that. But I would never known about BLs at all, had I not seen a few of them on YT. In my case, it was a good thing that I discovered them on YT.
This is a well-written and thought out review and a great conversation starter. You make many valid points about…
Thanks for the great reply.
I absolutely hate the "I'm not gay, I'm just gay for you" theme, so prevalent in BL series. It's really insulting to LGBTQ people (of which I am one)... if the writers don't want a character to "admit" they are gay, why not at least claim bisexuality?
At least Tharn was officially gay, so I guess that's an improvement. But I think you've hit it exactly on the head: most of the fan base are fujoshis who are sexually attracted to these actors. More than that, they get turned on by fetishizing two attractive men together. And, from what I've seen, all of the authors of the original stories are straight women.
I just visited Thailand (Bangkok) last week, for the first time. Bangkok has a reputation for being very tolerant and accepting of the gay community. But, for a city that is larger than New York City, I was very surprised at the small amount of gay clubs and bars, and the ones that do exist are mostly off the beaten path, almost hidden. And gay marriage is not legal in Thailand. The whole scene is pretty much hush-hush.
Well it turns out that M actually WAS an a-hole, making Pun be a fake boyfriend role to get back at his brother.…
I think M really did have feelings for Pun. But, as you mentioned, there were a lot of unanswered questions, or too much having to leave to our imaginations. And wasn't it implied that Sib's girlfriend (I forgot her name) was suddenly interested in her lesbian girlfriend? DID Pun get together with Sib at the end? I guess we'll never know unless there is a Season 3. :)
“the bear kept going with all the lovey-dovey conversation between Pete and Kao. The "oh shit" look on Pete's…
Great points. I guess the Non story was purposely left open ended... Kao's mom pretty much read Non's dad the riot act... the look on his face was telling. I'm assuming the dad took it to heart and would try to be a better father, but who knows...
I don't count Kiss the Series as part of DBK or KMA to be honest. There is no continuation or connection to it.…
Haha! Maybe the director saw baggy pants and man purse as being more "professional" than t-shirts and jeans, now that Kao is a teacher. I really have no idea, lol.
Hello I watched this entire show and LOVED it. The problem is, I never watch the prequels. I really wanna watch…
I loved it, too. As for the prequels, they have storylines that don't really pertain to DBK. You can watch them, but they don't feed into what's going on in DBK.
