that's it?! that's the story of lhong?! i thought it would show what he did to tar. anyways, lhong has been selfish…
Exactly! The way he's manipulating Tharn and Type is bad enough, but he actually hired a group of guys to assault and rape Tar, then blackmailed him about it?? Lhong should be in prison for a long, long time!
Many things would have developed differently if there was more communication, listening and understanding. If…
I agree with you. For me, this series is great because it's teaching some real life lessons. First relationships can have a lot of twists and turns and, along with that, it takes some practice to learn how to communicate with one another as a couple. Coming out can be really difficult, and it's not the same for everyone. I'm really glad this series took on these important topics.
Okay, I've watched the whole thing, the last episode without subs (I didn't feel I really needed them, the plot was pretty obvious). I've finally put my finger on what it is that bothers me about this series: I don't like the characters. I don't like Pun, there's not much to like about Sib and Pan is just a bitch. The only character I actually like is M (he was also the best actor in the series, not to mention best looking, lol).
I'm almost sure I won't feel compelled to rewatch this.
You are so not alone. I was screaming BRUH, PETE TOLD YOU THIS GUY WAS TRASH!!! I'd stopped watching Pete/kao…
You are to be commended! I can identify with Kao, because I never officially came out to either of my parents (my dad died when I was still a teenager and my mom passed away recently). I grew up hearing very nasty things from my father about gays ("disgusting," "perverted," "mentally ill"). I know my mother figured it out, but neither one of them wanted to hear me say it, so I didn't. If I had, I may have been disowned or, at the very least, they would have made my life a living hell over it. I had a religious upbringing, so I was taught that I would burn in hell for being gay. Being the only boy in the family, I was pressured to get married and have children, to "carry on the family name." Coming out is not an easy thing for a lot of gay people.
Who is salty about ohm and fluke? I don't think they have the best chemistry ever but they are really cute together…
I agree with you completely. Regarding New, I was upset with his directing in Love By Chance, but everyone kept telling me it was only because of all the drama behind of the scenes, so I was willing to cut him some slack. I don't think he has an excuse this time, it's just poor directing. But I'm enjoying UWMA because of the cast.
This show is not ruining the history franchise. It is in my opinion the best bl drama that exists. It is more…
As a gay male, I would have preferred a happy ending (the world needs to see that gays can live normal, happy lives), but it's not the sad ending that upset me. It's that the ending was just badly written. The doppelganger thing was especially ridiculous, and I especially hate that HT's parents were pushing a woman onto him. It was never clearly stated if HT was gay or bisexual, but it seemed the writer was going with "he was only gay for Xi Gu," which infuriates me. Not only is it unrealistic, but also extremely insulting to LGBTQ people.
You're so right. But I think the parents were trying to help HT push through his loss by encouraging him with…
I agree with that. But why push a girl on him? The parents knew very well that he was deeply in love with Xi Gu. It's like they thought "okay good, now he can be straight again." Really selfish and insensitive.
Off topic, but I seriously get gay vibes from the father, lol!
I watched Ep. 19 earlier in the day (and was wrecked) and then Ep. 20 tonight. Now that I've had a chance for it to sink in, here are my thoughts:
Like most viewers, I was gutted that Xi Gu was killed. And, as a gay male, I was hoping for a happy ending (not because I need it myself, but because gay people already go through so much turmoil, it's nice when the world can see that gay relationships are just as fulfilling as straight ones). But I think I'm ready for my assessment of this last episode.
Pros: 1) Wayne's incredible acting. Just WOW. 2) Xi Gang and Sun Bo's happy relationship. 3) Sun Bo's transformation into a really mature adult. 4) The talk between Hao Ting and his high school girlfriend (I forgot her name). 5) Despite Hao Ting's devastation and pain over Xi Gu, he still was able to get through university and make plans for his future. (I didn't get any "suicidal" vibes from HT.)
Cons: 1) The doppelganger thing was just... really weird and, frankly, dumb. 2) HT's parents pushing "Phoebe" on him. Seriously? 3) I wasn't crazy about the pacing of the episode, especially because we had to guess so much of what was going on for the first half of it. 4) I'm not sure if this is what the writers/producers were going for, but I REALLY hope that it wasn't the overused, contrived and unrealistic "I'm not really gay, I'm just gay for you" thing. If that's they were trying to portray, then shame on them.
Until today, this was my favorite BL of 2019, I was ready to rate it a 10. I'm lowering my rating to 8, not because it was a sad outcome, but because this last episode was just too damn weird for me.
A depressed person does not have to act depressed all the time. Often they put a happy face to the world. In this…
I agree that the directing could be the problem. (In fact, directing seems to be an issue in most Thai BLs I've seen, along with stories that are just not very well written to begin with.) Still, I'm liking DBK as well as I've liked just about any Thai BL. :)
I believe Type realised there was something strange about Lhong when Tharn confessed that he and Type are in a…
Yes, finally someone said it! When Tharn told Lhong he was together with Type, Lhong gets a look a shock on his face and drops a glass on the floor. HELLO??? I think a five year old could have figured out that Lhong is obsessed over Tharn, lol.
Wow, this series has just gone wayyyyy up in my estimation, over the past two episodes. This whole plot twist with Tar/Lhong/Tharn/Type is pretty cool!
Happy to see this, because I was ready to give up on this series altogether. The story started out so convoluted and well... just bad. But the breakup scene between Tharn/Type was so well done, really heartbreaking. Kudos to the whole cast!
I'm almost sure I won't feel compelled to rewatch this.
