Just started on this. Wow, 1st episode had me 😭. This is the 1st drama of 2023 where I'm invested in the story. I haven't read the novel so I don't know the ending. Based on the few episodes I'm not sure if this will have a happy ending. Everything so far is pointing to SE. Hope not 🤞.

When this was in post-production I did hear it was going to be in 2 parts. You're right, they must have cut a lot to truncate to just 40 episodes. Also, fans of Deng Wei were complaining that a lot of his scenes were cut.
