I really want her not to be typecasted and get a positive role for a change. She's good at being the evil SFL without being OTT. Atleast, her career is going good!
I'm definitely affected too. So much that I have made up rating criteria (pretty loose and feel-based) and control dramas (standard drama of that rating that I measure other dramas against). LOL, it's not that serious though, I just do this because I have watched a lot of dramas over the years and am a serial re-watcher, so these ratings help me decide what to rewatch. Also - rating high, low, and re-evaluate dilemmas have made me change ratings. Definitely not one of the proud ones who stick to their ratings, quite fickle actually XD
I love watching series that show familial bonds (blood-related or otherwise). It doesn't necessarily have to be a 'family-drama' to do so, and The Disguiser is a good example of that. Another drama family that I absolutely loved was Reply 1988, more that I loved the whole neighbourhood than just one family.
So I’m watching When the Weather is Fine and started Find Me in Your Memory and seeing Seo Sang Won + Eun Ho’s…
Jang Young Nam is such an amazing actress. The first time I saw her I knew she was going to be on of those actors that never get big roles unless in Indie but you love wherever you see them.
This drama is often recommended as a great detective J-drama. But this is a 'closed room' Agatha Christie style…
I agree, as long as you set your expectation right I think it's a enjoyable watch. It is not meant for serious viewers, but more of a quirky manga-y kind of watch.
Does this follow the original really closely? I don't like watching remakes, especially to something I watched…
It follows it faithfully. So, if you like your remakes to have variations this isn't the one. They change minor details of the settings to more of a Thai context... like the Lead's wife dying in a Bike taxi accident instead of a Car taxi (in Korean). But nothing for the overarching plot. Personally I like watching remakes because I find comparing fun (not in a condescending way, just to see how they do their version of it). But, if it's not your thing I wouldn't recommend it. Though, I liked this version as well - all the leads did a good job (A bit of a pacing and acting issue from some minor actors though).
This article popped up at the right time. My sister has been badgering me for Asian horror recommendations after I showed her Pee Mak. Thanks for solving a life crisis ;P
This movie was deep. Way too deep for many to understand. I had to watch it twice in a row to comprehend half…
Yes, while the storyline was not very hard to follow if you watch with attention, but I missed symbolisms that I had to pause or rewind for. Similar to you, really cannot watch this again, even one time was hard for my heart.
whatever happen please dont turn the discussion of Soo Ah vs Yi Seo into some fanwar.i know that some hate one…
Preach! One can logically discuss the shortcomings of characters or the embodiment of them by the actresses, but people have to turn this into ugly spat wars.
The grandparents fear the father will try to kill himself again if he feels The grandparents will take care of…
Sadly, therapy is not a thing in Asian families. They would rather do bullshit and let wounds fester than acknowledge that someone in their family needs 'help'. So, keeping this in mind, their decision does not seem so unrealistic to me.
This was a perfect write-up: Highlighting the charms of the show while pre-warning the triggers. After a long drama slump, this got me excited enough with its silliness to finally have a Currently watching! Thanks :)
LOL Lots of fangirls hating on Hua Rong, but every guys like her a lot off screen. And her true personality is…
Same.. I saw comments everywhere that they found her annoying or her voice annoying, almost didn't start the series because of this. Glad I did, because I didn't find her annoying at all.. and as for voice, some people have shrill voices, you can't change a person's voice. I have seen enough dramas to have seen characters written much much more poorly, with no spine at all. She seemed childish (as in the running away to play heroine etc) but this drama isn't a realistic drama anyway (heck the Pirate King is a masked vigilante). I found her good enough for the kind of drama this is supposed to be, more problems lay with storywriting and editing, than any of the character's acting.
