I have not paid much notice before to Ding YuXi as an actor, only in Tiger and Rose and I didn’t like the last one of his ML role in Love You 7 Times. I therefore just want to say he is doing and absolutely amazing job as Li Bing in his investigations and his cat like movement. This is what a ML should be like and btw that fish scene really cracked me up, so fun. The the other guys too, they each bring something, my favourite is Cui Bei, this guy was cute in LYF also.

I understand and I agree with you, I changed my rating because all in all I still thought the acting, fight scenes, look of drama was still ok. If we had a different ML and no palace politics I would have loved it.
I’m actually really enjoying this once I got past the first episode or so. The investigation work is quite understandable and its not my usual genre. Love the cast and Ryan Ding as ML Li Bing is very natural and easy to watch in portraying his role. The production quality is good also.
Totally agree with your review and I also choose the riding off into the sunset with CYQ. I did like the proposal with the army, havnt seen that before in a drama so that made me smile and love The Man CYQ even more. Only 1 question writers, why a ML like that, just don’t get it 🤷🏻♀️

I also thought why not go anywhere for 3 years thats why I chose to believe Mai left to be with CYQ after that amazing proposal 👍 Just my opinion and HE thinking.
That marriage proposal by ChanYuQing with the Beimo army backing him was everything to change my mind about how bad this story was. With that one scene I choose to believe it was an ending where Mai rode into the sunset to meet the only true romantic candidate as per his proposal. I also choose to ignore the ML and his antics and the ridiculous palace intrigues that were not necessary. In that way I can enjoy the rest of the drama and upped my rating by .5 to an 8.
Yes, we were all fooled and hoodwinked into watching this drama that started off fresh and interesting. I should have known to stop watching when I was FF ML scenes, always an indication that I am not being entertained. Big big mistake by production team not giving us a love interest with CYQ or at least more screen time with him. Yep big waste of my time after about ep 23.
