I'm in the minority as well, Andrea. I keep watching this show only because I've already wasted 30+ hours on it.…
So, WHY don't you like it? Do you dislike makjang weekend dramas in general? what makes this one more draggy than any OTHER in it's genre for you? I see that you've partly answered my questions - you DON'T like weekend dramas normally :D This one is much less draggy than the normal 50+ family drama, BTW. The characters are more rounded, are less 'all good' or 'all bad'. Where everybody will end up is probably not much of a mystery, but the how is a lot less clear than others of this type I've watched. I'm not sure why this one is getting such stellar ratings in Korea - 5 Children & Laurel Tree Tailor Shop were excellent for the type as well - but this one is edgier.
lmfao just because we don't like something doesn't mean we're haters
I'm obviously not addressing people who just decided the drama was not for them & dropped it. I'm referring to those who are consistently screaming about how awful it is with nothing to back them up except their own personal opinions . Most specifically I'm targeting the Hyori haters. Sorry, guys, she's doing great here and she's also absolutely not the focus of the drama.
Well you are in a minority LOL This is getting about the best ratings seen in Korea in years LOL Steel yourself…
You can't ignore my statement and pretend I said something I did not, however - or you CAN, but it's going to be pointed out to you. Again, haven't told you what I think of the drama nor said anything about your opinion other than it's the minority one. Which is a fact. Anyway, the majority opinion doesn't make yours wrong, of course LOL It's sad you find this a let-down. I really do see lots of things going on in this drama that are very much different from the ordinary weekend makjang so am not having the problems with it you are.
I can't even with Ji Soo. I literally skip any scene with her in it anymore. I hate the idea that she's gonna…
I do find Ji Soo annoying much of the time - but not evil nor even a bad person. She's a normal person w/good & bad qualities, and I like to see people happy. I think that Hyuk seems a character well-equipped to deal with her insecurities & snap judgements, so that's fine. This drama really is doing an excellent job showing the warts and all of the characters - the only one that I feel is not very well-rounded is Grandpa there - he's obnoxious & obscene, obviously driven but we don't know much else. Even Mommie Dearest has multiple facets to her personality, although obviously encourages all the negative ones in herself.
Well you are in a minority LOL This is getting about the best ratings seen in Korea in years LOL Steel yourself…
Nothing like this, honey. Although I agree that high ratings don't necessarily mean high quality, it does mean exactly what I stated - LOTS of people disagree with YOUR opinion. As I said, this has such high ratings it will be copied. Brace yourself. Notice BTW I have said NOTHING about MY opinion on this drama LOL
Ah - 10 years ago - Full House. w/Rain, My Girl. w/Lee Jun Ki (1st Flower Boy). Super Rookie, w/Eric Mun. It's…
Another Miss Oh was excellent. Moon Lovers got mixed reviews mainly because of comparisons to the Chinese version. In fact, Lee Jun Ki is credited w/being the first Flower Boy, from King & Clown, which was released in 2005. And if YOU think that somehow My Girl, Full House, or (LOL) Roof Top Cat (all of which I enjoyed BTW) are NOT fluff romcoms w/flower boy leads, well honey. Really. I'm sorry, one of the biggest reasons I personally watch KDramas is the spectacularly beautiful men. Which have been present in all the dramas I've seen starting w/SAND GLASS ! Sheesh. You just need to not watch Asian dramas at all. Seriously. BTW, the BEST KDramas I've seen, & in fact 2 of the best TV shows I've EVER seen, in ANY language, are Misaeng & Signal. Both aired within the last 5 years. YOU are a sad sad person. Sheesh. You consider GOONG historical?????? HOW???? That's so beyond ridiculous ....
This drama not really good. I mean it funny but some scenes really boring, especially the scene female lead try…
quockhanh - Ridiculous. This drama is funny, interesting, full of surprises. Just because you haven't a clue doesn't mean the rest of us are suffering LOL Those who don't like the fantasy nor the tongue in cheek won't like this. It helps if you've got an idea of the source material as well. As for you telling the HONG sisters how to write - oh, hold on I'm laughing soooo hard at that outre comment LOL Listen, just cause you liked Goblin does not mean you have to hate on everything else. I loved Goblin as well. But this is a DIFFERENT story, honey.
I've watched the first episode - excellent directing. Kai is doing great, I'm liking the female lead a lot :D I very much enjoy how they are incorporating Kai's less than fluent Japanese into the storyline :D It is working very well so far. Someone pointed out how the director is using silence as part of the scenery so to speak - expertly done.
Trailer doesn't look that promising. Saw it on DramaFever. The messages they are trying to send with it look like…
:( that's really based on NOTHING - I've now seen the first episode & it is so well-done - Kai's doing a great job! YOU are wayyyyy out of YOUR depth as a 'critic', dear.
There are plotholes galore here but I don't care - just am loving this drama so much :D It is of course once again confirming that KDrama writers think that their fellow countrymen are incapable of keeping secrets or effectively lying LOL
Oh, dear. I've been dealing w/this case for over 3 years - it is because of the injustice done. I find it obnoxious when people who don't bother to research ANY scandal feel justified in commenting negatively upon it, which you seemed to do. I did ask - but you just mumbled at me. Were you making that comment because of the scandal, or because you don't like his acting? Is that clear enough for you?
Have the 'headspace' to at least not comment on a case without finding out what the verdict is. He came back from MS, has had a successful Japanese tour & is now heading to Mexico & South America w/a concert tour. Choi Hye Mi, that lying female who accused him, is heading to jail.... You aren't in a position to 'mind' anything I say, dear heart. YOU mind yourself - mind that you don't commit casual libel by repeating things you've read on the Internet from 3 years ago.
i thought i would share a unique perspective. my wife is a korean drama addict. she watches 12 to 15 hours a week…
Sir, you are a man after my own heart :D I too love these dramas, just like your wife! I'm amazed at the consistent quality of this, I much prefer them to most US dramas which on top of being over-polishe are often trying very hard to be cynical & 'edgy' which usually translates to shallow relationships, sex & lust instead of true romantic relationships, way too much graphic violence as well as sex, and just unlikeable characters. So many of the commenters on this forum are kids, sad to say - I mean teens & twenties - many of them love to rage against this or that, often senselessly. Just as I've seen elsewhere, people nowadays have not been taught the difference between objective reasoning & personal opinion - and often think that personal prejudice is just as valid as rationale critiques. I applaud your post and your suggestion that people should try to find 5 good things before dissing something :D Even the worst of these dramas (in my case, Missing 9 LOL) still has lots to recommend them :D You will get hate for this post, mostly from people who don't have the interest to read the whole thing, or those who simply can't stand to be criticized. I'd ignore it. I especially love your praise for the Korean actors - they are doing such a stellar job on a fraction of the income American actors get! They are so amazing & fabulous! I've seen some of these actors over and over again and love them dearly. The woman playing the mother/judge/professor of law, for instance - she's an actress who can easily stand next to ANY Western actress I can think of, proudly, as a peer. She is in the same league as Dame Judy Dench far as I'm concerned (Kim Hae Sook is her name) :D
I see that you've partly answered my questions - you DON'T like weekend dramas normally :D
