Yep - so sorry for all of you who totally failed to see or understand the awesomeness of this show. The romance…
I'm not 'hating' on anyone. I'm wondering why those people hating on this drama didn't like it. I've read a few comments that gave reasonable basis for those opinions, but most just make a statement (it was boring, the romance was shallow, no chemistry) all of which are easily refuted on a general level. Personal opinion, very non-mainstream, in other words.
this show is terrible, with largely unlikable characters and a typical makjang story line. However, it's entertaining…
I'm also annoyed with this drama - but I do understand the mom's actions. Ji Soo would 1)never have GONE to this new family of hers, 2) would be miserable if forced to go, 3) would have left the nano-second they started all that stupidity of family standards. Ji Ahn is a very interesting mix of intrepid & doormat - she's not stupid, but she's really good at subservience. OMG the way that mother & sister behave! Sheesh! Do Kyung, well, he's got some history w/her so I can understand his behavior towards her a bit, but this episode? WAYYYY over the top! I'd have thrown that steak at him! I totally agree about Hyuk. Ji Soo might be an annoying little stalker girl who's afraid to face up to anything, but sheesh! When they showed what his real thoughts were towards her, all I could think was, wow at least he's got the shreds of decency not to overshare them! I like the brothers and Dad a lot. I do think Ji Ahn needs to call her brothers. I do find makjangs so entertaining for some reason LOL I do hope the characters improve - hard to make them worse LOL BTW how STUPID to act as if Ji Ahn couldn't possibly know anything about classical music! I've ranted about the place setting nonsense elsewhere, & this is more of the same. I'm not surprised Grandpa started out life as a butcher's son. This family's obsession with appearances totally reeks of nouveau riche LOL
Of course! It's a weekend drama, for heaven's sake! LOL
I keep SAYING that because you keep making surprised statements about the fact that it has a typical plot FOR such a drama. Good grief, child. Get a grip.
Just finished the American remake. There were changes, which made it easier to watch the remake (by that, I simply mean that since it wasn't scene by scene, line by line, I felt like I was watching something new). I DID like the ending better LOL but I missed Baro's superb performance, which was NOT echoed in the US version.

Who's fighting? Sheesh, only YOU get to state your opinion, I guess. I like discussion, as well as argument (the intellectual kind). I don't like blanket pronouncements with no explanations, followed by defensive comments a la ' it's just an opinion' etc etc etc. Defend your position - ie use references to the actual show instead of vague remarks. Let us see WHY you feel this way. Otherwise, useless. I'm more than willing to parse the entire show - explication de texte happens to be one of my professional strengths....
I guess you never really had a love affair, did you? I found the lead couple's romance utterly realistic -…
I'm simply saying that because you said you found this an unrealistic love affair while for me (and many others), the opposite is true. Nothing superficial at all - it is the epitome of what first loves - 20-something loves - new loves - are like. You might be better saying that ALL beginning loves start out superficial, in fact.
man I'm seriously thinking about dropping this drama... I really don't like those kind of romance where the male…
Kaiffee - Do you REALLY think he somehow had a better life as the Healer? Not at all. He might have been awesome etc & entertained YOU, but thinking for a second how a real human would feel living that life, no - he ends up in a much better, more humane situation at the end, with friends and love, able to have relationships face-to-face, non-combative and multi-faceted. Also, no, he did NOT 'forget' about his father's murder just because he went on the one date!!!! OMG - does he have to think about nothing else 24/7 just to satisfy you? That's absurd! Plus the whole reason he DIDN'T reveal who he was revolved around his insistence on keeping his identity secret in order to continue his plan of revenge, which proves he did NOT let love get in the way of that. So you are wrong.
Well, he was always alone as the Healer. They also said everybody left him (his mother, teacher), while he is…
Exactly. His girl didn't force him to do anything. He realized how much of life he'd missed due to his focus on revenge after he met her. It is a classic 'make over the bad boy' kind of theme, but it's done extremely well, very realistic and unforced - totally looks like it's HIS idea as much as hers in fact!
I really don't know why this drama has such a high rating..I'm at ep 9 and am about to drop this..the…
I guess you never really had a love affair, did you? I found the lead couple's romance utterly realistic - one of the few KDrama love affairs that reminded me of my OWN!!! Sweet, uncomplicated (except by outside influences), direct - no teasing or silliness at all - and chemistry off the wall! I'm sorry real doesn't move you. That's terribly sad :(
Pretty underwhelming. Ending was abrupt and left too many questions, romance was just ok, fight scenes were silly,…
The only thing I agree with you on - the ending could have been a bit more detailed (mom & daughter meeting, secretary seen getting his just deserts, etc) but compared to, say, City Hunter, this was perfectly satisfying. As for the romance - oh, honey. This romance is one that so many KDramas aspire to - a straight-forward, sweet, uncomplicated love for each other, where it is all outside influences messing things up! It's 'Romeo & Juliet' level romance here. Sheesh. I do believe you answer one question for me - perhaps some of the naysayers here just prefer violent action dramas w/no real romance (or perfunctory love lines w/no depth ala most Western action films). If you want well-filmed action go watch K2. I will admit that City Hunter had better filmed action scenes, and more emphasis on them, but the ending of that drama (also knowing what happens later, since I HAVE read the manga) left an unsatisfied feeling for me which Healer did not. Plus I preferred the whole story of Healer since it brought in some real history (not that City Hunter didn't, but what happened in the past in CH was just to a small group, while in Healer the back story affected a lot of people and resonated with what ACTUALLY took place in that era in SK).
I really want to watch this drama since this is definitely a must-watch, but I put this drama on hold after watching…
I find it fascinating that several people managed to lose interest in what really is a compelling mystery. This story has two things that kept me watching (other than the gorgeousness of JCW) - the romance (fresh, sweet, uncomplicated), and the back story! I wanted to know what had happened - and that was not somehow easily figured out. So when I hear this kind of comment, my first reaction is WHY did you find this boring? Cause please, don't bother trying to convince me that you somehow figured it all out by episode 5. Not true.
am I the only one who thinks Park Min Young looks kinda weird in that poster lol she looks prettier with long…
I could care what she looked like - her PERFORMANCE in Healer was so much more lively, nuanced, dimensional than any other performance I've seen from her!
Sorry but overrated, didn't like the main actress either.
Not overrated at ALL. You just gave your prejudiced reason for thinking that. However, Park Min Young is better in this that I've ever seen her, the chemistry between her & Ji Chang Wook is off the wall, the story is fast-paced, suspenseful and interesting. I laugh at those on here who claim to like the genre, who liked City Hunter, but say they dislike this drama.
Yep - so sorry for all of you who totally failed to see or understand the awesomeness of this show. The romance…
But you pointed out you liked City Hunter, which has a very similar plot. I watched Healer for that reason initially. That's my point. Healer had a more coherent plot than City Hunter BECAUSE it wasn't a prequel. I guess Healer wasn't bloody enough for you then, or you just don't like the girl. But the leads in Healer had chemistry - if you couldn't see it you really are in a tiny minority. Not only that, you must have a hard time seeing couples that you think HAVE chemistry, because the goal the average producer is shooting for is the kind of sparks thrown off in Healer. People who didn't like this show at all (cause, the genre, or they got confused by the story LOL, etc) did see that chemistry between our leads. They got couple of the year. This show is drama crack.
Yep - so sorry for all of you who totally failed to see or understand the awesomeness of this show. The romance…
Darling, the love story was most certainly unique for it's lack of angst. Really. And it was better than City Hunter because unlike that drama (which I love, BTW) it wasn't handicapped by being a prequel. So the ENDING was much more conclusive. You are really in a tiny minority here thinking that the leads didn't have chemistry. I'm thinking you just don't like one or both of the leads here.
