You tell him, Danah. His money is worth nothing!!! I'm loving this show.
Do you? I'm talking about what I've seen & experienced. I'm explaining why this particular meme in dramas always irritates me. Always. Doesn't always make me drop them but I find it so annoying. But you simply can't allow me to have that opinion, can you? Nor to point out that it is not very realistic either!
BTW I've read a ton of the fiction out there.
You kind of went off the deep end there at the end there. No relevance, a lot of attacking, all because I expressed annoyance over this fictional trope LOL
You tell him, Danah. His money is worth nothing!!! I'm loving this show.
Wrong. He moved her into the VIP suite on the promise he'd pay for it. A girl in her position, in real life, would NEVER turn down that reimbursement. Possibly might turn down the extra cash to be 'noble' but she's very poor, she just got out from under a horrific debt - really! Listen all you noble types who have never faced this situation in real life, my brothers are attorneys and I worked for years at Social Services. Almost ALL lawsuits center around REIMBURSEMENT for such things as breach of promise, accidental injury, etc. In this guy's case, he's offered to pay up front without having to be taken to court. In the real world, as long as strings aren't attached, plaintiffs LONG for such things to occur. It's called an out of court settlement and happens constantly. Get a grip. This is a common occurrence in fiction everywhere, but very rare in real life - and it totally annoys me every time I see it in a drama unless there's (as I mentioned) strings attached (non-disclosure agreements when, say, the injury happened because of shoddy safety at a plant & getting the money means the company can continue to put others at risk, for instance).
This is another case of the writers not being able to let her take the money because of plot needs, but using this tired cliche to try to make it logical. FAIL
I've decided to place the drama on hold. I'm hoping the incident unravels & concludes soon because…
Please keep us posted - I'm off on vacation for 2 weeks & hopefully things will have turned around by then (by that, meaning this will be back as a cute, light-hearted drama)
Holy cow I hated Episode 5. I am here waiting for Lee Dan Ah to fall in love with Choi Kang Soo. You can already…
The fact that you totally misunderstand my problems with this drama shows some lack of comprehension. I'm upset because the writers have done a very poor job creating a consistent character, plus another poor job in focusing their audience. If this guy had been written as you believe that would not have upset me, cliched tho it would have been. BUT in fact the writers failed to do that - they originally had him pretty nasty, then they show him as pitiable, then show him as no where near as nasty as he'd seemed ie just thoughtless, then now back to villain. The character is INCONSISTENT. And the logical progression of the show has been interrupted as well - there was a bromance going on, where the viewers were concerned about what would happen when the whole road race came out - speaking as a writer that should have been extended more. Then a real choice could open up for our rich guy. I'm thinking these writers are heading that way, but they've done it in a way that has OBVIOUSLY upset many viewers. I see you don't understand much of what I'm saying - fine. For you, this is a great, consistent drama so far which is great for you. I hope there are more of you because I like the cast & would like their drama to be successful. But I just can't watch until I see where these writers are going & whether it leads back to episode 3 again.

That's your opinion - and there are many of us here who simply don't agree with you. I say, parsing out what the writers actually did, that your reading is colored by your own personal baggage ie prejudice going in, so you are prone to condemn the rich guy no matter what. But we all have our own baggage.
Also, when you are referring to fictional characters, they do not have 'inherent flaws' they only have what the writers give them. If the writers do an inconsistent job of it (as is the case in this drama) the show suffers (which is happening).

Yankumicho, I am replying separately to you because you have entirely the wrong idea of what I'm upset about in this drama. You seem to think that I believe Jin Gyu deserves to get off 'scott free'. NEVER said that. He needs to learn to take responsibility & of course eventually to stand up to his dad.
What I'm saying is the enmity shown towards him is way off base and that the writers of this drama are erratic about their attitude towards him. They've made him a pitiable person (which BTW Dan Ah knows all about) yet seem to think making him a villain after all that is ok. I've seen this before in dramas - it's poor writing and I dislike it intensely unless there's careful character progression. There also is not much room for that in what starts out as a silly, slightly over-the-top rom com.
And the way that both our supposedly poor lead delivery people just refuse money as reparation (and in HER case money she's OWED!!!!!) well I'm sorry. Not only is that stupid, illogical and the kind of 'noble gesture' only persons WITH money can afford, it in this case was not even done by the FAMILY of that boy! I do see that Kang Soo would do what he did - that IS in character. It's just very unpleasant to see.
And dear, I'm flat out saying the writers DID like that character and they changed him. A real flaw for a writer - inconsistent characters are a sign of sloppy writing.

But that's an EXCELLENT thing (for him to offer to pay the hospital bills) - in this case that kid really needs that money - to just dismiss it as meaningless is a common thing in dramas but it also is ridiculous and makes most of us cringe every time we see it. Plus, I agree, the normal TV villain has that sneering 'you are little people & I can buy you' idea, but this guy does not. Really! I agree, that him kneeling & asking forgiveness would ALSO be excellent - & in fact not very far out of the question - but treating him as if HE were the sole cause of this accident (he wasn't at all), the sole perpetrator (again, not at ALL - lots of people there, other chaebol boys who probably are a lot nastier & those government employees who accepted the bribes), is inane - wouldn't happen in real life either. In reality, the whole lot of them would be reeled in most likely. If that didn't happen it's because THEIR daddies pulled strings which is really bad, letting the one kid take the full blame.
And where was the ambulance, pray tell?
The punishment here, and more importantly the ATTITUDE, is way off from the overall tone of this drama so far. Plus HER refusing to take the money he OWES HER??????? THAT is totally cracked. The writers are just completely illogical, sorry.
You go right ahead hating on this boy. Have fun with that. Far as I'm concerned, I'm done.

Not actually logic - just a different viewpoint. My points, and that of several other posters here, are logical as well - they just are not in agreement with you that somehow Jin Gyu is horrible and deserves everything he gets (as in that horrible dad? total rejection? hate as if he caused that accident alone on purpose? I don't know - I fail to understand the logic there). Plus the big problem of course is that the writers have written the character so that MOST viewers LIKE him & want him to be redeemed by our 2 leads, not hated & condemned.
But so far looks like you will just love the direction of this drama that several others of us are dropping for this very reason.
I'm not a big fan of Yeo Jin Goo. I don't dislike him, but I don't like him that much either, at…
This kid is a consistently fine actor - and he's still only 19. Anyone who thinks he can't act is either really bad at judging acting ability or has only seen him in this (although he's doing fabulous in this so that doesn't make much sense either).
This could be better, but the chemistry is off. Things are just a little awkward between Haesung/Jung Won, Hae…
Hae Sung is Jung Won's HS sweetheart, over a decade later where HE hasn't aged a bit & she has!!! Of course it's awkward! How could it not be??? There certainly is some chemistry there, but it's just not going to happen cause we know our ghost boy will disappear when he gets his family back on track/clears his own name.
Albairis - are you talking about the ACTORS actual ages? That is hardly that obvious - he easily can pass for early/mid 20s and she certainly can. She looks a bit older than him, but pffft - really, this silliness that you can tell how old a person is to the year just by looking at them is idiotic. You can't. There are people who just look older from puberty & those who never seem to age. I get soooo tired of that theme in KDramas - some young actress who's the shy side of 30 gets called out for looking old next to a 25 year old (or some other actress pretending to be 25) - when they BOTH look 20 LOL it is seriously stupid. The fact that they have a younger actress playing her HS self - you know, when I went to my 15 year HS reunion I had NO trouble recognizing anyone because of facial structure! Put some geek into a suit w/contacts & a good hairstylist, now that will change his look - but that's not age....
Yes, ok, the road was blocked.... But why the taxi driver didn't call an ambulance and insisted on taking…
And pray tell, why is OJG the only one in jail? No mention of all the other chaebol boys at that race? There were LOTS of people there. Where's the driver of the car who was involved in the motorcycle accident anyway? In a case like this (the racing) the government employees who accepted money to close the highway would be the ones who'd be in the most legal trouble, but nothing? Just so unrealistic.
BTW I've read a ton of the fiction out there.
