It is bittersweet/ somehow open. Fu Yunxi in the novel was a prince and he got poisoned with an incurable poison, and because he took unknowingly a double dose of the poison over a period of years (he used to eat the meal meant for him and his brother because his brother always gave him his share of that particular dish. Oh and his brother did not know about the poison), it made his condition much worse. But through some way in the end, they were able to give him temporary relief. The book says they did not know the future about his health. That his condition could flare up again in even 5 or 10 years or something.

I think the actor for the ML is doing an excellent job with pulling off his character. It is not that he is a cold person. He is just a very guarded person. Oh and he is very unscrupulous and unpredictable lol.

Just from the way Zhuang Shiyan acts, you'll know he is actually hiding his true nature. He wants to be perceived as kind, helpless and humble.
His concubine and her children have been causing trouble that is very easily traced to them, but he acts like he is oblivious and lets them continue. In the end, he is still using them to serve his own purposes.

My biggest issue was what they did to the female lead. It angered me. They made the other two males handle what she was novel written to have handled herself so perfectly. And then the look in her eyes. I couldn't do it.

Just because The Double was released first does not mean that every other tough male lead character, or every other revenge and mystery story is trying to imitate it. Do you understand how cdrama casting, filming and airing works? Shows are not really released in the order they were produced, and they finish all aspects of the filming before it is released. So for a show released about a year or less, after The Double, for all we know, while the double was in production, this one was too.

Please stop this kind of comparison. It does not make sense and it belittles the hard work of writers and actors.

I hate to bring it up, but that is why I dropped SiJin very very early. I saw clips, started the first episode, saw more clips and couldn't do it. And every time I've even tried to check on it leaves me very very disappointed. I'm a true novel fan for that story lol.
Thankfully, I did not have to suffer that kind of situation with this one. Two in a row would have been truly very difficult.

In this case, I think the drama is more engaging than the novel, although if you're a novel fan, you'd still be icked by some relationship and stroryline changes as expected.
I barely read the novel because it was not very engaging. It did not have a lot of meat in the way it was written, but it was still okay. It was something I thought would be okay to change stuff for the adaptation and once I pegged that early on, I stopped reading lol. I still did not want to get too involved and then get disappointed while watching the drama.

There is one scene from the opening they haven't shown yet and I'd hate if ManMan were given the opportunity to come back to the team. Forgive her when she comes back to her senses and apologizes, but why would you work with her again? I hate when they pull stuff like that in shows.

Ski Into Love, a Cdrama has warnings like every 3 minutes of the show because it is a show about a wintersport. Even for things like driving on the road, there is a warning lol. They should have slapped such warnings all the way from like ep 5 of this show. As "romantic" or touching as Dong Jin's actions were, they should never be repeated by anyone. Realistically, they are quite terrible. All of them. He was basically on a suicide mission.

I cried at the end during that confession. It really was so touching. He was using his whole life to say that to her and the set up and everything made it very emotional.
What was funny was nature basically saying "the audacity" lol. What a threat.
