The storytelling for this show reminded me of Call It Love and I really enjoyed both. It was slow and very soft, although watching him experiment was like an extreme sport lol.

I wish they let Jiang Yiming's character be an obnoxious jerk like in the novel instead of what he is right now. He barely has a presence in the storyline and if you wiped out half of his appearances, it would do nothing to the story.

There is so much reference material to work with for this script. They ignored them all.

I honestly can't believe what they did to her. I've never seen a reincarnation plot with the lead that reincarnated this weak.

Yes. It does not make sense that she is like this at all.

I really don't like the look on her face or in her eyes for this character. And I'm not sure if it is because this is the way she is interpreting and acting out the character or if this is what it says she should do in the script.
She looks innocent and helpless. Very unlike someone that has gone through all she went through in her past life. She seems smart, but entirely too weak.

I'm happy to have given some more information. They changed too much and the thing that pains me the most about their changes is the impact to the female lead. They left her too weak. YQ is supposed to have JS as his purpose. He just wants to marry her and live well with her. So even when some things don't really add up, with regards to her knowledge about so many things and future events, he is not suspicious of her or focused on that. He trusts her completely and those things are not that important to him really.

I'm happy to answer the questions. There kinda was, but it is not put front and canter. Zheng Heng liked JS, and his dad tried to matchmake them before he even fell for her. This arc is actually funny in the novel. Anyway, she rejected the match and it was not an issue. YQ did not have anyone chasing after him. He was a great match as a prince and because of his really good looks, so of course some would want him, but it was like background noise. No one pursued him and Zheng Heng sort of pursued JS, but it was only a few encounters and wasn't an issue. So in the end, there wasn't any love triangle.

In the first life, they got married. Then she "found out" that she was the "replacement" for the Wumiao priestess because of their uncanny resemblance (the priestess had a maid that served JS while she was acting as the priestess in the past life. The maid was bitter and lied to her and she believed it because of a painting she found in YQ's study which had a mole on it, the only vital difference in appearance between the priestess and her). This was her only issue with YQ because YQ still showed her immense care and respect when they were married in their past life. It was a pain she bore because she loved him. So in this life, she kept trying to avoid him because she did not want to get entangled with him again. He was still the only one she loved. But you know, YQ made pursuing her his only mission lol and she already had feelings for the guy before, so she only kept falling for him. Then after a while, after some conversations, mentioning the Wumiao and the priestess, she asked him about his feelings for the priestess and he told her that he had never loved her and explained.
Later on, after they got married, she confronted him about the painting in his study. He told her about how they met when they were kids and how she saved him. Then when he went to the south, he saw the priestess and saw that they had a very uncanny resemblance. So he basically used the face of the priestess to paint a picture of what she would have looked like around that young age. They met when he was around 9-12 years old, I can't remember. And the few times he came back to the capital, he found out she was engaged, and then went for her sister's wedding so that he could see her. In the past life, she ended up marrying Ji Chongyi, so they did not meet until later, but in this life, when he came back and saw that she had broken her engagement, he saw the opportunity to pursue her and stayed.

He clarified to her that he never loved the Wumiao Hugh priestess. That he would have died for her if he did. He said that the only person he loved was her. This was before they got married. Later, after they got married, she found out that he had had a crush on her since they were kids, after she saved him lol. She did not know in her past life because she did not confront him about it, and their first meet was super embarrassing for him that he swore to take it to his grave lol.

She won't. The thing that actually happened is told in the last chapter of the extra chapter. Only she and Ernui were reincarnated and even Ernui did not know what happened. She also never found out about the secret technique that only he found out from the Wumiao chief by chance, so she could not even have pieced it together. So just like he never found out that she got reincarnated, she never found out about his sacrifice.

Yes and no. It was actually Ernui that was reborn because he jumped off the cliff to save her/ die with her. YQ sacrificed his life to give her another chance, the consequence of that procedure was losing his memories of her. So it is not really that he was or wasn't reborn. Till the end, he had no idea or knowledge of the reincarnation.

Ernui really judged EVERYONE and EVERYTHING lmaooo. Our General Xiaotian, a fifth rank official. Used to use his size to oppress others too. And loved to bite the butts of people that annoyed him lmaoo.
He alone could have made JS rich because of all the pouches he stole and gave her lol. That was how he woed her because his master was a bit too useless, being so slow to get the girl.

Yes. It made so much sense the changes to her relationships and personality in her second chance. Something that upset me from jump was her reaction to Ji Chongyi cheating on her. They made her look so heartbroken when it was really her pride that was hurt, even in her past life. She never cared about him or his affections, she was just arrogant and was happy she had secured a good match for herself.

Please don't read the novel until you're done with watching the show. I think that for those who this is a fresh story for, they may really enjoy it.
So for those who have not read the novel, it is really long, but it is so much fun and much lighter. I thought I would not be able to read the whole novel when I first started, but I could not put it down. That said, read it after for a better viewing experience.

Book Ernui would look down on drama Ernui because it was just that arrogant lmaoo.
Novel JS might eliminate drama JS first because she just can't believe she is this weak after reincarnating.
Novel YQ would beat drama YQ because he does not have his priorities right lol.

They do not need to adapt the whole story. There are segments, storylines that they could have taken out. But they changed the essence of the characters. I feel insulted on behalf of the female lead. They are dimming her to make the males shine. I'm so upset they replaced Prefect Zhen with his son. Then they made Cui Mingyue like Yu Qi. They did this for unnecessary jealously and love triangle tropes.

That sent me over the edge. Jiang Si would NEVER. She'd defend her brother and plot how to take her out earlier. I can't believe what they did to her character.

I'm tired of repeating such situations. I think I'll just give this one up. The portrayal of Jiang Si, both the writing and the look in the eyes of the actress are too disappointing for me. They should have left her a full badass.

It is quite disappointing. What is the point of having a past life experience if she's still so helpless?
