I took an oath years ago that I'd never rewatch this movie. I'm just back to say that I never betrayed the promise I made to myself. Just so you know the impact this movie can have on someone. It was like a strong vaccine, there's no going back to it.
Stupid ending. I recommend that you watch the 4 episodes and skip the last 15 minutes. And even if you watch till the end you'll just be confused like everyone who did.

I've been away for too long but I'll reply anyway. The grave belongs to Xia Yao, or another version of him. The scene was used to get Chinese government approval for the release of the series. Supposing that everything that happened was due to Yuan Zong reminiscing a friend he'd lost in the military. [That's the info I read left and right, the scene is nowhere in the novel].
Ignored this one for months. Some reviews are way too optimistic and some others way too hostile to this show. As the saying goes, to each his own. Gonna watch one episode and decide weather it's a "Bravo!" or a "Fiasco!" for this one.

He's scared of his sharp-eyed, witty mom who has nothing better to do than investigating every facet of his life. Xia Yao's education was strict and he wasn't as pampered as Xuan Da Yu. He's rich but his prestigious family background is what stands out. His family's wealth can't be valued with money.
Cheating? That's a poor way to describe this drama, but I'm not surprised. People nowadays are so miserable that they only stick to fairytales. As soon as a show is realistic, intense and lesson-teaching, it becomes an aberration. Yan Fei cheated on his boyfriend indeed, but Jimmy is also a cheater, he wasn't some innocent guy. As for Hai Qing, he was conflicted from day one. If he did know that he would meet Yan Fei again, he would have never dated Pin Jun. The fact that he broke up with his boyfriend to be with Yan Fei is the best thing that happened to Pin Jun, he was given an opportunity to move on and find someone who would love him the way he deserves. You can't fight back love, you will cheat and do worse things for the person you love. This world is a dreary place, it would be a real mistake to give up on the one you desire for the sake of social dogmas and morality. This drama teaches us a priceless lesson: Love comes with a price.
I had the misfortune of watching the ending by accident, I won't gonna be able to watch it now that all suspense is lost. A special mention for the cast and the acting, however.
This drama is just like a cheap bottle of wine. Better be thrown away unopened or else you'd just get a hangover, and no satisfaction. The plot has more potential as a movie, the episodes are rather cacophonous.
Now that KinnPorsche is on the way, and after all the ruckus it keeps making, the Mafia theme will be milked by some opportunists. If the future shows are of good quality, there will be no problem.. but the start is below average for this one.. at least from my point of view. I really don't like the cast either. Graduating from med school and completing a residency (internship+residency+fellowship) in surgery are two worlds apart. Graduating from med school means nothing at all, it's good for the ego but medically-wise it's square one. I know the topic well enough. I'm a fifth year resident in surgery and I don't call myself a surgeon as I know what it takes to deserve the title.

The only new version I'd watch is a Taiwanese version, or a Chinese version WITH THE EXACT SAME CAST and EXACT SAME SCRIPT as before. And what about that female love interest? C'mon, it's outdated nonsense. You either say they are straight, gay or bi. No straight man falls for a guy and no gay man falls for a woman. And bisexuality doesn't rhyme with ambiguity, not here. I know the topic all too well.
Yeah. I met my BFF in med school and that's what picked my interest in the novel, I related to the story and Nadia was a bit like my friend... but in the end, this one original character was discarded in the favor of a woman. I haven't watched the show yet, I just hope the uncles are as lovely as in the book.. or else it will certainly disappoint me!
A well-known surgeon role for a 29 years old actor. Allow me to doubt the quality of this show... but I draw no conclusions. Let's see how he fairs on the screen first. Death got a role, so everything is possible at this point! ರ_ರ
