I’m on ep 25 and I’m kinda confused on the comments that there is very little romance. I beg to differ. It’s not the main story but it weaves into it quite a bit.
One confusion I have tho is that Jinglan found the Shu red wedding dress that was made by yingying’s father, and almost died bringing back, but she doesn’t wear it for her wedding. 🤷♀️
I peeked at ep1 to see if I would enjoy this. I have to say Dylan is really in his element here. I will for sure pick it up after the full eps drop. I am a true Joy of Life fan but I see no reason not to also enjoy this show. It's not one or the other.
This was ok but I did FF a bit with the constant scheming against M&FL. The production quality is just not as good as current shows and some of the overacting in the first episodes is dreadful.
Overall, I did like the growth and maturation of the main characters. ML learns to respect FL and her desire to use her business skills and stay in the palace. However, I was really baffled by Yu Qiao character motivation. I get that she was forced to marry Gao Yan, but she jealously refuses to let any concubine or maid near the emperor, meanwhile she throws herself at Gao Zhan every chance she gets. This made zero sense to me. At least she grows up and redeems herself before the end.
ml's piercings are distracting. , Ep 20 had under my bottom lip itching like crazy 😂
haha I noted that too. Not sure what they can do to hide them. I know a movie where they painstakingly hid them in post production but it was probably bigger budget.
I'm on ep 11 and holy wow this is a hidden gem. There is some choppy as hell editing but I'm letting it slide…
As others noted, the cgi is not great but I’m giving that a pass since the fight scenes are decent. seems like the post production budget was not very high.
Can someone please give a non biased and honest review on the ML’s acting? I’ve never watched a drama of his…
I am really enjoying his performance in this. The character really suits his acting as FengYi has to avoid women for his cultivation but he is literally drawn to FL. For me, the micro movements and reactions are there. Even the messy little hairs that don't stay in his top knot are working for me.
I am so here for Hong Yao as ML. For the life of me I don't understand why he isn't cast this way more often. He has the looks, physique, and range for better roles than the unrequited 3rd wheel (Follow Your Heart). He was great in League of Noblemen but didn't have enough screen time imo.
A very wonderful show to fill me in between heavy cdramas. I am not a huge fan of romcoms in general, but there have been a few kdramas that really delight me. I recently watched Family By Choice and highly recommend that one too. In this show, the romance is sweet and the drama is not heavy. I have adored LJW since Knight Flower and I am so happy to see him in more leading roles. FL is "so Cool" and I love that she's not super girlie, but still really beautiful. The second couple is really sweet too and the villagers are quirky and loyal. With 12 episodes, the story is timed well and very entertaining.
On Ep 21 and I am assuming FL brought Huan Yan back to the mansion for the purpose of tricking ML into thinking he slept with her. Also, that she is going to exchange their lives. But GRRL you cant be that cruel.
