I'm upset with the emperor's actions in the last 3 episodes, although he made up for them in the end. Chu Zhao's…
In the novel, he was a mediocre emperor & was easily swayed by the chancellor. He had listened to & let manipulated by the chancellor. He redeemed himself by issuing a marriage decree between HY & XY. He was clueless to a point that he did not realise that the chancellor was a treat or/ colluded with the wutuo people all along until XY & HY uncovered the chancellor bad’s deeds. He chose an idiot first prince to be the crown prince & didn’t even think that the crown prince’s intention to kill him, the emperor & crown prince managed to do it. He was not a smart emperor.

Yan He is the general that got killed in their last battle due to CZ’s strategy. He was their classmate at the academy & used to bully He Yan & compete with XY for the first place in class.

I don't think anyone thinks he is a benign nice person. He is delusional and selfish. But he is not all evil.…
Fully agree with you.

He has never been a kind hearted person & he was the same in the novel. I’m not quite sure how some people think he is a smart character & has so much potential had the script writers not written him to falling in love? He was that delusional, ambitious with no integrity & loyalty towards any human being but himself. He is a huge red flag.

He also pissed me off in the novel so i have no sympathy for what happened to him.
He is manipulative in the novel. He used HY to get to XY at the very beginning when he sensed that HY was XY’s weakness by giving her gifts, inviting her to his room, going out to watch the moon etc. His move to ask his master & emperor to promote HY without real power after her first battle victory was dangerously calculated to get XY impeach later on when HY identity will be revealed. She & her family risk of being exterminated by 9 generations for having deceiving the emperor by concealing her identity by joining the army. He appears everywhere in front of HY which create misunderstanding & jealousy in XY. When the emperor gave a decree for CZ to marry the Tingping girl and XY to marry HY, he still wants to break them up so he could have HY & ignoring Tingping regardless of the emperor decree. When his master got sent into prison for trahison, delusional CZ used HY’s sister hairpin to lure HY out to a teahouse to ask her to marry him instead of XY. Though, the chancellor Xu is a terrible person, CZ turned against his own master by killing him so he could climb up the ladder. The guy has no integrity & loyalty.

He also does appear a lot in front of HY in the novel which creates a bit of misunderstanding & jealousy from XY.

I don’t like how they turned ChuZhao into a lovesick puppy last minute. They should’ve made him go out with…
In the novel, the emperor issued the decree for him to marry that Tingping girl and XiaoYu and He Yan marriage . CZ is such a delusional & selfish person that he even tried to lure HeYan out to a teahouse using HY’s younger sister’s hairpin. HY was worried about her sister life, went to the appointment to find out it was CZ & he then declared his love for her & asked her not to marry XY but him instead. HY rejected him & told him that they were not the same kind of people. Luckily, XY has been watching him after his master downfall. CZ has never been a loyal person & HY has found that out early on. I’ve never liked his character in the model & nor in this drama.

I really hope not, cause so far it still like " not allies but maybe ?" I hope cause they changed up some…
They’re changing the plot if this is the case. In the novel, HY & XY got married, live happily together after the war & have a little daughter. Before they got married & after loosing his influence/position he had under the wing of PM Xu, he even dared to lure HY out in a teahouse, declared his love for HY & asked her to marry him instead. XY luckily followed him & exposed his game plan & left HY with him. After the downfall of his master PM Xu, CZ negotiated an exit for him & his maid ( that he shamelessly sent to the crown prince on the crown prince request) with the second prince in line who became crown prince. His maid was disfigured by the first crown prince so he left the capital & live in exile by himself in the water city where HY & XY saved the little princess. Years after the war, HY bumped into him unexpectedly in that city & XY was very upset with HY for engaging in a conversation with him haha.

In the novel, the emperor issued 2 marriage decrees for CZ with Xu’s daughter & XY and HeYan. When the truth about He Rufei’s and PM Xu’s collusion with the Wutuo army, HRF was executed on the emperor’s orders. PM Xu was sent to prison & CZ faked his escapee & killed PM Xu. XY & HY’s marriage went ahead according to plan so perhaps they may have changed the plot in this adaptation.

Is He Rufei a true bio blood brother of He Yan? Or is he an imposter?
In the novel he is He Yan’s cousin but here I’m not quite sure if he is her brother or cousin.

I have a question form the novel readers, i have heard people say we still haven't seen xiao jui jealousy and…
In the novel, XY has always been jealous of Chu Zhao whenever he shows up t discuss with He Yan. CZ has also had the nerves to use her sister hairpin to draw He Yan in a teahouse so he could declare his love to He Yan & tried to persuade He Yan to marry him instead LOL. He Yan luckily rejected him but XY has witnessed the conversation & stormed in & kicked him. He Yan had to beg him to stop & explained things to Xiao Yu. He remains very jealous of her relationship with CZ years after the war & they already had a daughter together. Years after the war, He Yan & Xiao Yu together with their daughter visited the city Jilin where they saved the little princess Mu Xiaolou who is now a young lady & is getting married. One night after the war, Han Ye went out to the night market for a stroll & bumped to CZ & they had a quick chat before Xiao Yu arrived & asked He Yan to leave. He has never liked CZ which is understandable for me as the guy is not a reliable partner for a woman in my book. He even let his beautiful maid go to the crown prince who later disfigured her. CZ only thinks for himself.

What was the dynamics between the classmates and how was xj and hrf relationship during their academy time??
In the novel, XJ has been secretly helping HRF in improving his swordsmanship. XJ’s nephew was not at the academy with them but XJ’s good friend Mr Lin Shuanghe ( a Doctor) & another of classmate Yan He who became General & used to bully HRF as He Yan had always been the last in class. He Yan ( HRF) has been shy & kept to herself but was quite willing to study & used XY’s explanation of how to use her sword.

Xiaoyu did claim that He Yan was his fiancé & he was hiding her identity so that she could follow him in a court celebration when the emperor issued a marriage decree between CZ & Xu’s daughter as well his to He Yan . He had discussed about her identity to the emperor beforehand so that she did not have any surprises. A nurse at his military camp who has been in love with Xiaoyu for a long time tried to encourage her own admirer to reveal He Yan’s identity to the court & then He Yan did tell the truth to the court & Xiao Yu stepped in to tell everyone that she was his fiancée.

I think he was trying to mainly trap Xiaoyu & it would be a severe punishment for He Yan. In accordance with the law for deceiving the emperor through lies, He Yan’s family may face extermination by9 generations. I think he was using He Yan as a weakness to XiaoYu.

I have a question for someone who read the novel:What 7? 8? men was the brother musing about as he was scheming…
I don’t recall the exact number of her closed subordinates but there were quite a few that died because of He Rufei who colluded with the Wutuo army & he also delayed coming in to help.
