The first arc was so good, acting by both the leads, chemistry is too good. Cheng Lei did am amazing job as a…
Is the 3rd arch any good pls? The actor who plays ML in the 3rd story puts me off as I didn’t like him in my best friend’s story. He was a selfish kind of same character here not spending for his girlfriend or being a complete jerk.
Qing is so on my last nerve. She is such a bully to Yi Yi. All the yelling, whining. is so over the top until…
Her, her boyfriend Yang & that Fang woman are all on my nerves. I was happy to watch a short flashback of YiYi & her aunt Lin Siyun. I was hoping to see the first couple in the flashback so fingers crossed.
Same but did you understand the whole thing about her situation and why there is a problem ? I don't know why…
Not to mention that they want to take our house so that they could use as a government building. Looking back now, these are the people that make rules up to suit their opinions and has nothing to do with ideology. I was a small child back then but I could feel my mum’s resilience & she always saw the positive side of things with a smile despite the hardship.

Thank you 🙏 for your comment, I appreciate it. When we went through such conditions, we learnt by the hard way to adjust to changes and not take things for granted. The discrimination that my mum & eldest siblings had to go through were similar to that of YiYi, they graduated in high rank but could not receive their degrees because we were of Chinese origins & my father did business back then. In 1979 when there was a skirmish between China & VN, discrimination was very harsh against us. Thanks to our mum who was strong willed, we managed to survive these difficult times & she helped so many neighbours by feeding them for free even though they were mean to us. She helped hide my eldest siblings’ friends from being sent to the army. Afterwards, we had to leave VN & before we left my mum was not able to bring a little Viet girl who was orphan with us as we needed adoption paper. My mum was very sad & had to ask the neighbour to adopt her & gave enough money to take care of her. In the end, we have no hatred towards VN but only love for a country that several generations of my family came to settle down but had to leave due to these circumstances. What I am trying to say is there will always lights at the end of the tunnel..

Tell me about it, my family went through the same thing so I fully understand her feelings. Many were jealous of her family background & are embroidered in their own personal perception of things without thinking that there are other opinions, different ways of living their lives & often project their resentment/negativity onto others unfortunately. It was a dark time indeed but I do think sometimes there needed these dark times so people could learn from their mistakes to improve. Well, you can see now Chinese people are happier when their lives improve. My partner went last year & things are affordable. Of course, there are things to improve but it is much better now than back then.

My understanding is that, her own house where she grew up went through so many changes from being her house, to her hospital then to clothes factory where she was still able to live in. In addition, her personal career went downhill for being a a wife of an official from the nationalist party. Note that the nationalist led by Chiang Kai Shek lost the civil war ( nationalist vs communists) in 1949 & the majority of these nationalists left to Taiwan & some had a lot of money also left to Taiwan. The fact that the Yang guy clearly has some prejudices against the nationalist & capitalist which YiYi background represent so he got rid of her position & told her to go another city to look for a job. All her childhood & memory are in Shanghai so she is kind of rebellious like her aunt was against any prejudices, oppression from other people so she decides to fight for her own survival just like her aunt. I completely understand how she feels as my family went through similar experiences.
My complaint, the kiss at ep 9🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. ML tried to kiss but why is…
It is a shame that FL & ML don’t show a real kiss but boy they are so weet right there. Another sweet moment when they were on the balcony after his adopted father told him that their father/son relationship & FL comforted him by saying she will always be there for him. Their kiss looking at the sea made me think of that famous photos of lovers kissing each other in Paris.
