I have not read the novel at all but understand from Chinese fans that the FL had a tragic end, was kidnapped, tortured & raped by the SML who took her new born baby away? Did she kill the SML at the end please?

I am not an expert by any means on China but during the republic era, china was controlled by rival regional military commanders, warlords, hence they relied heavily on their alliance with the bankers to fund their army or attack & steal other armies’ military supplies. Given that ML wanted be independent from his dad’s army , he needed the financial support from the old Tao through his daughter TZY, so I could see it both ways.

I think ML is just trying to protect her from any attacks either from his family or his dad’s men knowing that she is under his care. I don’t believe there is anything going on between them but the opera singer may fall for him though. I understand from Chinese fans that ML & his big brother were very close but the family favors the elder brother & many people including the singer think that he takes after his big ge. ML may be using the singer to make TZY jealous & draw her towards him & then use her father’s influence to acquire land for his army. I don’t see TZY falling for him either but the girl is entitled so the fact that he purposely made the singer make up with TZY watching behind the curtains bothered her ego, I may be wrong.

I think he is the favourite ones where his father is grooming him to be the heir of the family. ML did say to their father that when his father was faced with the decision to save one of the 2 sons in the battlefield, the old Yu chose to save his big brother.

Agreed. I have not read the novel but Chinese fans on XHS said he was really bad. He kidnapped her, took FL new born away from her, raped he, physically & mentally tortured her and she managed to kill him in the end. However, FL’s health took a toll that ML couldn’t even recognise her when she passed by him. She died afterwards and I am hoping that the scriptwriters would not follow the storyline as in the novel.

I read that the SML will go dark. He will fake the evidence to put the blame on ML about the fire incident that would kill FL’s mum whilst ML came to save both FL & her mum. He will also want FL to abort the unborn baby with the ML. You could see a glimpse of what he may become in today’s episode when he was sparing with ML.

I was wondering why does this drama have the same vibes/storyline as in the Love in the flames of war drama where FL ( Chen duling) is a high school girl & ML played by Shawn Dou, the son of a commander. I’ve learned from Chinese fans because it’s the same author that wrote both novels.

That’s awful & I understand that the SML took away her baby after birth but luckily he united with his father, the ML later on. FL also had a miscarriage of their first baby with ML.

Around that time girls got married early & it was considered normal . My grandma got married at 16 years old.

Indeed, WTF? I understand that the scriptwriters have amended the plot & have painted a softer side for ML.
